Back in the day during school years, my friend and I recorded our no-death walkthrough of this game on a video tape, we took turns completing levels. 10/10 experience, was extremely fun to rewatch our own play later and be like "ooh I almost died there, we'd have to record it again" "ikr?!", and the excellent part was that we did it from the first take, which was collectively voted for being a feat, and it added to the rewatching fun part 😁
Hi Pam. This Flintstone's retro NES video game seems like a lot of fun to play as well as quite the challenge. The graphics and colors are of the highest quality for an 8 bit game. I sure would have liked to play this game as a child, but to be honest, I did not know this game even existed, until I watched your video. So thank you for selecting this game to review as I have learned something new today. Keep up the excellent work and I look forward to your next NES game review.
This is one of the last 14 licensed NES games I don't have, and probably never will due to the crazy prices. Which really sucks, because this game looks good.
+Cannot be Tamed After reading your comment, I looked on eBay to see what price this is selling for now. And the cheapest one (in damaged condition)is $629.75. Literally DOUBLE what it used to sell for last time I looked. CRAZY! I think I'll faint if I ever find this cheap at a yard sale or thrift shop.
I remember as a kid really enjoying this game, and my local video store had like, 3 copies of it. How I wish I could've got one of them back in the day when they sold off their NES games... it is indeed fun! I'd also recommend the nearly-equally-as-uncommon-but-not-nearly-expensive "Treasure of Sierra Madrock" for the SNES, which came out around the same time and has some cool board game elements to it.
I enjoy this game a lot. Taito knew what they were doing with later NES games. This one had great level design, solid music and game mechanics. In my LP of this game, I could never figure out what you get out of winning the hockey and basketball games. They had the basketball games in the first one too, but they had different prizes. Subbed
Wow! Really expensive game I want in my collection! I thoroughly enjoyed your commentary. The editing is so precise. Checking my emulator for my psp. Good its in there!
Yeah, this game was interestingly one of the last five NES games released in 1994. I heard that there was a campaign to keep the NES alive while the SNES was out in order to make more money, but I'm not sure how true that is.
+GRUSS Newton You know the saying "There's a sucker born every minute" ? And there are lots of them out there. Not really surprised that some are willing to fork over 700 bucks for some grey plastic and an IC.
Just wondering how many Nes games do you currently own? And also how long have you been collecting Nes games? I sold off all my Nes games about 12 years ago or so and I regretted it. I ended up buying them back maybe about 3 years ago. I had maybe 25 games as a kid that I sold I currently Own 400 plus now. My goal is to own ever Nes licensed game. I travel a lot and pick up what I can. Nice reviews btw I totally dig your channel! Keep up the good work!
[3 years later] Nice review Pam, thank you for this video :) My only complaint: Don't put filters on emulators, let the pixels be pixels, because we love them
cool vid i subbed, you came up in the related videos for the james in mike mondays, they did this game, so i guess this works in your favor, glad i found your channel
I had this game but its cartridge was rectangle and black. I played it on my mega drive 2 which had grey and blue buttons on it. The cartridge had also other well known games in it like SMB, Pac-Man, Bomberman, Street Fighter II, Circus Charlie, Hunt Duck, Wild Gunman, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Tank, Galaxian and a few more. Not more than 16 or 18 games. I couldn't find this cartridge anywhere on the internet. I want to buy a mega drive 2 but which region verion should I choose? I want to buy it as a gift and some games along with it for my nephew.
I was impressed by this game, I have a multi-cart that had this game on it. I just randomly picked it. I was surprised for sure. I am poor I don't have that big money for that cart. But, if you have the cash it is worth it.
I only have the cheaper Flinstones NES game, but it is a lot of fun. What did you mean by Blockbuster exclusive... is that the video rental place that used to exist?
do you happened to have the Simpsons game the arcade version it was once released on ps3 but its another rare one too thaks for your response its another good game
carlos martinez Same thing happened to X- men arcade and those weren't the only ones delisted. The only problem is that those games are digital and it's still tbd weather or not 360 consoles with certain games on the drive will fetch a price. In the end Flintstones has a cart and as a fellow collector I would take physical over digital any day.
hey neat vid bruh. Very informative and concise. I don't get how you can resist swearing at some of those frustrating parts. I should probably learn a little restraint when I play NES games...
Adam Palozie Oh, there's definitely some swearing while I play. A controller may have been thrown during the part with Barney climbing away from the boulder, but I'm usually calm by the time I make the video.
Hi Nice channel. Subbed. So I just started my gaming channel. Ive got 3 videos up this far and its all about how to clean games. Anyways, I am supposed to be getting this cart (finally) this afternoon. I am trying to find some info on what the inside of the cart should look like. Like what the eproms and chips should look like to make sure i dont pay out the ass for a fake. Im not sure if you have the actual cart or it was borrowed or you played an emulator... But any help you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated cause i feel like im going into this sale blind. I definitely know enough ti not be fooled by a famicon version put together with a adapter internally. I know if i see any sort of wires soldered onto the board that its obviously a repro cart. But past that, i dont know. Thanks in advance. Hope to see more videos.
Growing up I got the other Flintstones game for the NES and my younger cousins got this one (I wonder if they still have it..). Not really sure which game I like the best. This has more variey but the first game is also good and also a quite decent challenge. I also think the last level of the other game was a nice nod to fans of the show and the company behind it. I know "AVGN" didn't give these games much praise but in this I think he is rather wrong on this one. Despite a few negative things these games are fun and nothing you beat the first time you play it. Overall a quite good game but is it worth that amount of money? Not really.
nice review. i recently played it and also thought it was gonna be some sub par game that just insanely expensive. but it wasn't bad. i'm still not sure whats up with the 4th level where its like your small jumping on toasters and stuff. when did it turn into chip and dales rescue rangers?.. i must have missed a cut scene. hockey kicked my butt too. till i found out later just shoot straight from the center and you'll be ok. go figure.
I always get a little nervous whenever there are licensed games, because they tend to be awful. But this one sounds like it's just the opposite. What you showed was definitely appealing, but $700 to play it without emulators? Not so much. I like that they tried varying up the gameplay though, and wish I had had the chance in its heyday to give it a shot. Just like most of your NES reviews (at least for games that aren't on my Classic), you make me nostalgic. Well done and put together as always, Pam.
Are there any other games that sell for more than the $700 Flinstones game? Just curious. I never actually owned a Nintendo. I always played at a friends house and had a Sega Master System at my house. Best of both worlds. Anyway, cool review. I'll be sure to give some of your other videos a look.
+Galactic Zombie Thanks :) Little Samson is the other really expensive one, it's more than Flintstones right now. Then there are are a few unlicensed games or things made in very small quantities like Stadium Events and the Nintendo World Championship cart.
i will say that The Flintstones part 1? is an amazing series, i had bought it back in the day from country video, before it went out of business. But this Part 2 "Surprise at Dinosaur Park" i have never played. but i can tell ya, they added a lot of great mechanics to part 2 alright. so you can switch between Fred & for the very first time, Barnie? Now that is never featured in part 1. in the first series, you have to save the kidnapped martian dude. XD
Good game, but not worth the money it goes for these days. It's also not something I'd call rare, just uncommon. Rare to me, is stuff like the PAL version of Mr Gimmick, Stadium Events, or the Nintendo World Championship carts.
The boulder chase segment is giving me Battletoads level 9 flashbacks.
WHOA, You're Holding a copy? Awesome!
GRAND DAD
That boulder part reminds of a level in battletoads.
Played this nes game when I was 11 in 1995 my neighbor had it fun times 🍿
This game was hard. I remember i wasted lots of money on this game at the cafés:)
I've learned a lot about old games from you, Pam. I think this one is the one I want to play the most. Thanks!

I bought a "150 in one" nes cartridge that came with both of the Flintstones games, they're awesome.
She's the Gentile Video Game Nerd
I rented this back in the day and really enjoyed it. Thanks for covering it !
No problem :)
Okay, I got the cart!
I am filming and editing final touches and will have the pickup video uploaded later this afternoon. Thanks for your help
Hi PAM this is me from 2020 coming from Wacky Races review. You had a lot more sass in this video than I remembered ;)
I love the Flintstones, and liked the other NES Flintstones game... but damn this one is way too expensive.
+Stefan Homberger Yeah, I think emulation is the way to go for this one.
@@Cannotbetamed1 Either that or an everdrive might come in handy, especially when combined with an rgb modded nes.
Cannot be Tamed played both nes versions of the flintstones I was 11 in 1995 when I played them ☺️
@@only257 I used to play them both as a kid too. If only I could find my cartridges now...
5:30 Boulder chasing you up a wall, typical NES game logic. lmao
This is one of the last 14 licensed NES games I don't have, and probably never will due to the crazy prices. Which really sucks, because this game looks good.
+Jay M It's fun. I don't know if it's $800 of fun though.
+Cannot be Tamed After reading your comment, I looked on eBay to see what price this is selling for now. And the cheapest one (in damaged condition)is $629.75. Looks and feels like the Flintstones I like it alot
Wow I remember hiring this as a kid at my local video store. I was never able to pass that ice stage though.

Woow! I've been played so much!

+electricmastro devs had learned how to make the most of the system in 93/94 I kinda wish there were more games after that
I couldn't believe the price at the end when you said!
Looks like. Very colorful late game for the NES though.. Great review!
+GRUSS Newton

At one point the NES collection was over 400, but a lot has been traded off now. I think the current number is 76.
+Cannot be Tamed do you have any repros? Or are they all originals?
Funny that this game seems to have more reviews on TH-cam than the more common (and IMO the better game) "'The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy".
I loved this game as a kid I even had the genesis version as well
I'm jealous of your awesome collection of NES games! Any plans on Little Samson?
No plans for Little Samson. I don't even have Flintstones anymore, it got traded for a lot of other games.
[3 years later]
Nice review Pam, thank you for this video :)
My only complaint: Don't put filters on emulators, let the pixels be pixels, because we love them
have you done rescue of dino and hoppy.
I have not.

+mullein roots Sweet! That's cool that my video is getting suggested from there.
Oh and i am totally going to film the interaction and buying, testing, opening the game and make a (hopefully) pretty entertaining video out of it.
I had this game but its cartridge was rectangle and black. I played it on my mega drive 2 which had grey and blue buttons on it. Pretty sure this was only on NES, so I'm not sure which Genesis cartridge would have been on.
I think I spy some Sega CD games in the background there?
Pretty excited for some Sega CD reviews in the future :D
This game looks fun! Always exciting to see a minecart level 🙆♀️

I only have the cheaper Flinstones NES game, but it is a lot of fun. What did you mean by Blockbuster exclusive... is that the video rental place that used to exist?
It is the rental place that used to exist.
Cool. I didn't know they had exclusive games... kind of miss that place :)
nice review :)
are u planning to review other retro games beside the ones for nes
DukeNukem3D0 I'll probably do the occasional SNES game, maybe Sega CD, along with PS1/2
I have to ask how did you afford this title? Cause the prices are just insane.
do you happened to have the Simpsons game the arcade version it was once released on ps3 but its another rare one too thaks for your response its another good game
No, I don't have that one, though I used to play it on an arcade machine at Chucky Cheese.
the ps3 console sold the game for a while

probably the best super rare NES game by far.
+SpitefulAZ I've heard good things about Samson but I haven't played it
Wow you have some ultra rare games!
Have you had these carts for quite some time?
Really nice gems!!
OAIHY No, this is unfortunately a fairly recent purchase. I got it for my boyfriend, he's going for the complete NES collection.
That's an awesome goal!
Good luck to you two!
I ran out of space at around 500-600 games :(
lol
For me its that I can't get out of my head that the starting theme of the song reminds me too much of the theme from Porno Holocaust.

I agree - good game. Worth $10 or $20. Or emulating. Definitely not worth it's actual cost.
