    I’ve just left school and I’m interested in doing bricklaying at college and after I finish. Your videos are a massive help to let me see what future I’m walking into I’ve watched loads of your videos and I would 100% recommend them to anyone who is looking into doing bricklaying!

    End of the job and nobody would know it hadn't always been there. That's why, when it really matters, you pay a bricky to do it.

  • @Daniells1982

    It's good that the heating lads are using a good bricky to piece up after them too and not just clashing any old brick in themselves. I bet they've turned out a canny job too cos they obviously want the best finish for the customer.

    So neat Stu 👍. I like the way you did the last brick , buttered it with a taper towards the back.
    I always come away learning something from your vids. Thank you.

    Nice job Stu , can never understand why people can't be arsed to look for a brick match when doing a repair , I live in a 4 house avenue , my son lives opposite me , his next door neighbour had a bay window repair more than 20 years ago , using completely different coloured bricks , last year another repair to same , my son was having a kitchen extension using Proper old reclaimed Accrington Nori's, so I told him to give their bricky 40 plus of his bricks for them to fit in their bay and I would pay for them so I didn't have to look at cheap orange bricks , looking stupid in a 1934 built house , Jang will learn so much from your skills and attention to detail, well done

      yep, it really cheeses me off when I see a window bricked up with bricks which don't match the wall, especially when someone uses 65mm bricks in a wall built from 73mm bricks.

    Have you ever tried the brick blade for a reciprocating saw?
    They’re great for getting bricks out of walls like that, they cut through mortar like butter.

    • @lunavx
      @lunavx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is what I do , make a hole big enough for the blade and cut away through the mortar, really good especially with old brittle bricks

    Brilliant videos, very interesting, please can you make an in depth video about all the different types of bricks and blocks? For example the ones with holes in and grooves on one side, and why you use the bigger blocks on the inside of a cavity wall etc. The videos I have seen, made by other youtubers were quite boring voice overs on pictures and didn’t really explain the use for the different types. Keep up the good work!

    I had a go at putting some double air bricks in the side of my old house before we sold it, you should've seen me trying to butter them! FFS, how'd you get the muck to stick so easily? Haha. Had to use a small pointing trowel and my hands in the end! Looked alright once I'd finish but you make it look so easy.
    Top work.

    I've just bought my first house, a traditional semi from around 1930 and there are some spalled bricks below the bay window. The bricks need replacing but they are a dark brown colour and they're textured. I can't find them anywhere online. Can spalled bricks be repaired? If not can you colour these red bricks? How do you get the mortar to match? Would you recommend a builder or could I do it myself? Also some of the bricks look like they have a coating of white salt on them. Will this be a problem? I'm another one of those novices who did a useless law degree instead of something actually useful. Kind of regretting not going for the smaller new build but you live and learn.

    • @seniorgolfprogress83
      @seniorgolfprogress83 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom you are better getting a builder that knows what they’re doing they could locate the bricks to match plus if you did it yourself you could make a mess of the front of your house and that would devalue it👍

    • @TomRipley7350
      @TomRipley7350 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seniorgolfprogress83 Thank you for your reply. Having thought it through, I agree. There are just so many ways I could bodge it. I was letting the expense cloud my judgment but with it being work that is front and centre, as you say, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and call in a pro.
