lite bug you should google Jim's performance at live Aid - then google Eric Clapton - If you think Page is better then you are in need of a set of hearing aids - no excuses - he can tune a guitar and this was when EC was hitting the bottle pretty hard - besides that , EC and his band didnt even rehearse Layla ! but they pulled it off with relative ease - Ole Jim got exposed and he knew it

@@davidrice3337 anybody who knows anything about music would say Page solos both out of water.
Clapton is absolutely nowhere near page.
He plays the most basic boring licks.
Hendrix never made as complex music as Page.
Listen to Houses of the holy and Physical graffiti. Even Zeppelin 4.
Hendrix was flashy. Music isn't about gimmicks.

They're human, not robots. Get over yourself. Clapton is simple, even he acknowledges it. @davidrice3337

Page took idea of mirrors from Syd Barrett

      Rather an inspiration.
      He's actually spoken about Syd.
He praised Barrett for his musical ideas and sound approach.

Beck was leagues ahead of both of them but Clapton doesnt hold a candle to Page when it comes to iconic riffs and solos. Hell one of Claptons most iconic solos on one of his songs wasnt played by him lmaoo

@@Mule4ever123 you're out of your mind - I've been playing music for almost 40 yrs - I like a wide by variety -
When people say Black Sabbath invented Heavy Metal I tell them to Google. Cream's first record - it might not have been called Metal - but it is what it is - there is no question about it - and this was recorded in 1965 -
Let's jump ahead to the late 80s when Barry Gibb called EC and explained about the project they were getting ready to do - they needed to rent a home and a studio in Miami because that's where the scene was - EC not only offered up his home ( with a new studio) he also had a few ideas kicked around - some riffs and hooks - The Saturday Night Fever record became an iconic staple and EC was responsible for much of it - ( particularly some of the opening riffs)
The 80s was a very productive time - the Journeyman record is a masterpiece - of course by this time Led Zep was done - EC was just getting started - his unplugged record literally saved the acoustic guitar industry from going in the shitter - then you have his work in the 90s - his live records are great - Now what the fuck was Jimmy Page doing other than a collaboration with Coverdale , a lame effort with Paul Rogers and a reboot with Robert ? Not much -
Yeah Jeff Beck was an incredible player - but he wasn't near the writer and he can't sing - same for Page -
That's just an overview - I know from a players standpoint that Page did so much overdubbing on records - none of it was recorded live with the band - Almost all of EC 's was -
      It's not even a discussion

@@davidrice3337 Metal was in its infant form until Sabbath put the finishing touches on it. Hell even Zeppelin flirted w a very dark metally blues sound before Sabbath. As for the SNF story I have never heard that so i scoured the internet and cant find a trace of Eric Clapton contributing to any of their 70s or 80s albums other than telling them to record in America. I will happily be proven wrong if you wanna provide proof. Till then 80% of your comment is null & void lol

@@davidrice3337 Page overdubbed which means what? He also produced some of the best produced and best selling rock albums ever then went on stage and on 1 guitar played what most bands would have hired another hand or 2 for. Cream did record most everything live in the studio which i have a ton of respect for and those albums are awesome but nobody would be saying anything if Clapton overdubbed a few parts here and there. Plus most of Pages overdubs were just additional guitar parts. Its hard to play 2-3 guitars at once eh?
