    ''Di'' or ''diay'' are easy to explain. Its a pet word that is equivalent to "well..." and its sometimes to express doubt, for example "vas a salir hoy?" (are you going out tonight?) To which you reply "di, no sé, talvez," which means "well... I dont know." Or to express the obvious for example "di si... hoy salgo de fijo," which means "well, yes, I am going out for sure."

    Nice, helpful....
    Have you ever met someone who can interpret the whistles that the men use? I'm sure it's an old communication technique. It's almost like a language.

    Pretty spot on good job. "Vos" is used like 40% of the time in the central valley and orthern Costa Rica "usted" is more typical 60/40. Use "vos" if you know how to conjugate your verbs properly. People from Cartago use "vos" pretty exclusively and will use over "usted" 40/60. Don't use "Tu". Why? several reasons, if you want to blend in and be more "tico" don't use the word, you will single yourself out as a foreigner, not that that's a bad thing. reason number two, "tu" is considered snotty and could be taken as impolite. If you decide to use it, be ready for weird looks, constantly be asked where your from and might get a sarcastic "tu"said back at you. Stick to "usted" instead, even though you might feel like you're limiting yourself to pronouns.

      Nada que ver.
      Creo que en el valle central es donde usan más voz.

      @@allanbaal2743 jamas, eso es puro cartago.. san jose es usted

    • @gaboltl
      @gaboltl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@allanbaal2743 En general se sigue usando más el usted que el vos, aunque este último está cada vez más extendido. El problema es que la gente no comprende que el voseo se debería usar solo con gente de confianza y el tico es un confiansudo que lo usa incluso con alguien a quién acaba de conocer.

    That's not what yeismo is. It doesn't matter whether you do ll as j,ll or y it's all yeismo. Not having yeismo is distinguishing LL and Y, with LL being a sound like LH of portuguese or GL in Italian (kind of a ly sound)

      We do, in some words in other we don't, we have 3 different Rs. Some people in Central America do not pronounce the letter S, and I just know that its because other countries speak their variation of Spanish. No need to hate on other country's way of pronouncing.
