As a lover of aquavit I really like the sound of that Negroni riff! Interesting that the sherry doesn't seem to complement it quite as well though. I'd be curious for you to try a really sherry-forward, more refreshing drink, like a Cobbler variation (I like something a little more complex/interesting than the classic, with a little citrus, maybe a liqueur or amaro thrown in there). Or a sour that splits the base for a lower ABV result, something like that. Curious to see what you come up with for the next round of sherry!
Random, unrelated comment: There are so many bitters out there. I’m getting sweaty just thinking about how many orange bitters there are. I wonder if you’d consider doing a “let’s try this drink but changing only the bitters” series, kind of like how El Presidente keeps popping up now and again to vet a new rum. Anyhow, I dig your style. Thanks for all the fun info.
Been exploring sherries for a while. I do interchange any dry Sherry for any other dry sherry “no rules” that way I use a Sherry I like as I do find, like you, fino not to par. Ah Robert Hess got me deep diving in classics. PX is so sweet but love it around Xmas. Fig pudding all the way. I did like the PX daiquiri off punch drink using it as the sweet component
@@UnclePete It means yellow wine and is from the Jura department in France. If you like it, you will adore it, if you don't like it you'll hate it, it's the kind of wine that scores only 8 and up and 4 and below.
I made a batch of Sharon cocktails ( 1 1/2 ounces manzanilla sherry, 1 ounce sweet vermouth, preferably Carpano Antica Formula, & 3/4 ounce Campari) and no one at the party would try it. Bastards! I'm still bitter. Good drink, though.
Pretty much only sherry cocktail I've gone back to again and again has to be the "Remember the Alimony," with gin and cynar. Never really like sherry forward cocktails like the Bamboo, but maybe I also just don't really like Lustau fino?
@@UnclePete btw, nice throwback to Robert Hess, his vids were one the first to really get me into making cocktails at home. Him and the Cocktails Dudes!
Love Sherry. Thanks!
You got it! I love it too.
The dry sherry nuttiness is what gets me in most cocktails. Works sometimes and others, no so much.
The nuttiness is way toned down in this. You should grab it if you see it!
Goes to show we may be nutty enough. 😜

Thanks Oshyan! The Trident is a must try. So good. The Sherry journey will continue!
Sherry flips are my favorite but can't wait to try these 3.
Ohh yes! I got a flip I can do with the PX
Great vid Pete! Some sherry drinks I've enjoyed recently: Kobra (also includes white port!), Sharon, Suppressor #21 & Session Manhattan.
Ohh I will look those up! thanks!
Oh now these look like great drinks! I’ll keep an eye out for this fino
I recommend it!

That is a good idea! I will have to think that over, but in the mean time I do like the Bitter Housewife orange bitters :)
@@ryan1cobine shoot I almost have more bitters then spirit bottles. I know the feeling well

Px Daq is going on the list for sure. I love the sweet ones :)
And yeah, Lots of sherries are interchangeable as you say. cheers Man!
Don't have a favourite sherry drink yet, but I do like dry sherry, as well as other oxidative flor wines such as Vin Jaune.
Ohh Vin Jaine? I'm going to look in to that!

Thanks! I will check that out. Yeah I have found that Lustau fino is not that good, and this Cesar Florido is really good. So I say give it a try!

I watched a ton of Robert Hess, seems like so long ago!
