    Nice !
    A desert hike without the
    need to haul in water.

    Saguaro Cactus. I love the Sonoran Desert. I miss the coyotes' serenade at twilight. Man, it's a magical place.

    Beautiful! I just did an overnighter in Joshua Tree recently. Really dig the winter desert trips. Such great weather and those amazing desert sunsets...Gotta love it!

    Welcome to AZ, Justin. 🌵

    Love AZ. It's such a Yin v Yang to Vancouver island. Will be there the last half of Feb. We spend a lot of time on the Arizona trail in the Tucson region and south to the border. Always great views all day long (unlike forest hiking on van isle)

    Great to see you getting out in different environs, Justin. It reminds me of where I grew up, in north western Australia: pokie indeed!

    I've come across a few of your videos in the past and have recently had an interest in backpacking. I can't tell you how much of your content I've watched in the past 3 days. Good stuff!

    My favorite kind of backpacking - solo desert trips off the beaten path.

    Thanks for this! Headed to Phoenix/Superstition Mtns in 2 weeks for backpacking with my son. Can’t wait!

    What a teaser! Surely you've got more coming from this trip. I work for the US Forest service and started in Arizona in 2006. One of my first gigs was doing some layout work on the Arizona Trail near White Canyon Pass., not too far from where you are now. Hard, hard work. And yes, everything in the desert wants to hurt you! But so strikingly beautiful in person. Hike on J Money Gangster!

    Awesome camera work and editing the equipment seems cutting edge especially with the 3rd person view

    Man, you're making me really miss SoCal desert camping. That's where I started my backpacking hobby! What a site - both a fire pit AND running water, in the desert? Talk about a home run!

      My first trip ever was to a place in josh that is now closed due to vandalism. I was 17. Got down to 9 deg that night. It was the beginning of December 1988. NQU

    Take away the saguaro cacti and this video brings me back to my years in Texas and New Mexico. 👍🏻

    I love AZ camping! So much free dispersed BLM and National Forest camping.
    You need to check out Sedona asap. A night in in Wilderness areas deep behind Boynton Canyon or Bell Rock.
    The area is filled with bucket list hikes.

    I love that Zerk pack but it only goes up to a 19” torso length. I’m only 5’ 10” but have a 20” back. They should make an XL size.

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd be fine. I have an 18in torso and it fits a little big. No hipbelt means it's much more versatile too

    I love my Z Packs Duplex. I like the weight to room ratio. The sun gloves are a great Idea. They wear through quickly when you're on the trail a lot. Still, better than a burn. Let me know if and when you come to CO. I lead trips for the CMC. Would love to have you join.

    Are those 360 shots from the x2? If you're going to be in Alberta this summer we should shoot some videos. I told the family I'd road trip back to Calgary this year after America banned commercial filming in National Parks.

    Nice video. Curious if there is a reason you didn't do your usual, rear pegs first, then pole, then front pegs setup with this Plex Solo. Is there something different from your Lanshan and Altaplex setups with this tent?

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do find it sets up a little better with the 4 corners staked first. It doesn't have the seams the altaplex and plex solo has to make the triangle.

    I hiked through the Superstition Mountains a few years ago and I sat on a Cactus while setting up my tent the first night. Millions of microscopic spikes right in the ol buttocks 😂
