      All of those artists that were on stage with Kendrick Lamar at his "Pop out concert" to show their support have all contributed to the degredation of so called "black hip hop" culture. None of them produce music that uplifts "da culture". And they all represent your so called culture. And that's what Drake is "cosplaying"?? The very "culture" that led to the social, spiritual, and moral degradation of black people?? That's what you're trying to gatekeep from Drake? If Kendrick Lamar was a dark skin black female rapper dating a biracial man. And dissed a biracial chick in a rap beef by questioning her so called "black authenticity" and claiming she's "cosplaying" the same black dudes saying Kendrick Lamar "bodied" Drake would have said "Here we go. Another black chick exposing her jealousy of mix chicks again. Corny." They wouldn't of respected it, or said she "destroyed" anybody. And they wouldn't be dancing to her "not like us" song because they would've been too focused on the fact that she's not even with a black man. The same black dudes would have called that black female rapper a hypocrite for being in an interracial relationship with a biracial man, but want to gatekeep "blackness" from biracial chicks. Im sorry, but a black man like Kendrick Lamar who is dating outside of his race with a biracial woman has no right to question a biracial mans "black authenticity". If it's cringe for Drake to say the N word, than it should be equally cringe for you as a so called pro black to be dating interracially. Just saying. How is Drake not black but Kendricks baby momma, a biracial woman that can pass as Drakes sister, is black? Is she black because she knows how to "crip walk", as demonstrated in the "not like us" music video? Is that what "part of da culture" means? Is she "black" because she's a baby momma to a black guy, Kendrick Lamar. Im starting to notice that biracial women are considered black because that is the sexual preference of black males. While biracial men are not considered black and are treated as white men and the villians in the black community. The only time i see a biracial woman not considered black is if she doesn't date black men, and is not attracted to them. That's the only time a biracial chick gets the Drake treatment. They call Kendrick Lamars baby momma "black". They call Cardi B "black" etc..all the biracial women are "black" just not Drake.

    Great conversation. Also the "Not Like Us" comment I feel like it dances to American Black Culture. This comes from Black American hardships, Jim Crow, Slavery, the Struggle, to our rise out of certain situations while still keeping a smile on our face. The ability to enjoy life out of everything we have to endure in America. That is what "Not Like Us" is relevant to. Like it or not l, we are the definition of Cool for the world, we set every trend. As a Black African, I'm a fan of Dr. Umar and appreciate his insights. However, I believe that individuals of mixed-race heritage should have the right to identify as mixed, because that's a valid part of their identity. It's important to respect and recognize how people choose to identify based on their unique experiences.
    Growing up in Belgium, I've witnessed how traditions like Zwarte Piet-a practice where white people put on blackface and curly wigs to act as servantsin order to perpetuate racial stereotypes and harm. This tradition, which mocks Black individuals and reflects a colonial narrative, had a negative impact on young Black kids, including myself, who were ridiculed in school for it. I would feel highly offended if my identity as a Black man were questioned simply because I'm not American. Our identities are multifaceted and deserve respect.

      Additionally, I have to call out Dr. Umar's hypocrisy. While he advocates for Pan-Africanism, he imposes a restriction that Black men should not date white women, while seemingly applying different standards to others. This inconsistency undermines the broader message of unity and respect for individual choices.
      I've also met some amazing white people, and internalizing negative experiences could lead to unfair prejudice and racism, which I am firmly against in any form. Our identities and relationships should be respected, and we should strive to reject racism in all its forms.

    🤔🤔 how do you 100% know that Drake identifies as black when he's never said it or portrayed it. Getting the Hells Angel's to back you as a "black man" shows how he isn't really black if you understand the racial history with them
    38:19 - 38:40 Only person who understands... such a stupid narrative to put on Kendrick and say that he's saying "You ain't like us if you're not from America" even tho' black people from other countries treat us like that like Dr. Umar pointed out
    Kendrick has to clarify something that was already clear but Drake can continue to insult the culture with no consequences..... makes sense smfh
    47:54 - 47:57 Another lie Joyner Lucas & J. Cole has made it very clear that they're black.... even Logic has made it clear lmao stop it guys

  • @tw2334
    @tw2334 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I think Umar means clarifying who he is and what he means in his actions and words. It doesn't have to be as direct a statement as "I'm black." They say things like, "As a BLACK PERSON, I have done or dealt with x, y, z." But when they don't do that, it implies other biases. So when he says Mariah and others have said it, they always say things like that.
    For example, Drake could say, "As a Black man, I think it is important to work with artists who challenge and elevate music," or something similar. and that would work to say it without specifically saying "I am black" in a random context.

They are not conscious...this is the problem with young podcasters who are not tapped in to their elders..Toronto has a huge legacy of consciousness and movements where we place importance of identity as ancient people. (Being black and proud) Drake has to declare his identity...if he can say the N word, not speak on our issues, police brutality etc..but promote his jewish heritage, then he will be seen as an outsider. Period.

    37:48 I think Kendrick was talking about Drake as an individual. But he’s also hinting at Drake not identifying with his blackness and being more of the heritage of his mother’s side. Then the internet took that and made it a “ they “( non blacks ) aren’t like American blacks and turned it into an identity politic issue like social media tends to do with everything lately. I don’t believe that was the intent of the song initially
