Hey guys you have a very great lineup of pistols in this video. Myself personally have purchased the canik rival a few months ago and I really enjoy shooting it. I have about 500 or so rounds though it and I have not had one single malfunction out of it. The trigger is phenomenal with little to no take-up and the reset is super quick. Great job guys
Man awesome video, I love the choices you guys presented. So after doing some research, I bought the Glock 19 gen5 ( my first gun) and I got it because of it's reliability, and few years later I got my self a Canik TP9SF and fell in love with it. Not a single malfunction (where I had few with the Glock) and because of this gun I am currently training as much as I can to get in to competition, but like someone mentioned in the comments I slowly started saving for the top dog STACCATO, It will take me a few years but by that time I believe I will be ready for it. Thanks guys for a grate video and keep doing what you do and God bless.
This was a great video with the price point range and comparison I started out with the Canik Rival Switched to the M&P competitor and it was an improvement for my scores Some day I will move up to the CZ or just take to “buy once cry once “ and get the Staccato But you guys have a great range and lots of rentals to try Keep up the great work on this channel
Appreciate the content, I was looking to get into competition shooting and I decided to get a Shadow Systems CR920XP. What are your thoughts about this pistol? Did I make a good decision?
Thanks for your response, I have a mr920 with threaded barrel , attachment the screw on shadow systems comp . It’s a great set up . But new guns have a much easier set up (caming system for the comp and better trigger ) Dr920p has to be much easier to maintain, with better trigger , better control and accuracy. I’m sure you had great results and experience. I’ll be up to the range ( shop ) soon to check the new models out . K
I do participate in local competitions. I started with the Rival, then tried the P320 RXP and I also use a super tricked out Prodigy DS 5. I have to say, for polymer, to get into competitions, you can't get better than Rival for the price. Next, I would go CZ S2... amazing pistols. Oh, and Glocks, sure, they are reliable
I just bought a canik TTI and the Rival S. I know that the TTI will bump me up a class. Should I start out with the RivalS to get my feet wet first or does the classes really matter? Thanks!
The TTI definitely will not bump you up a class. You’ll be in open division if you’re in USPSA where it’ll be a huge disadvantage compared to guns with frame mounted optics and aggressive multi port comps shooting major power factor. If you’re concerned about classification don’t shoot that gun in open
@@S1deshowRobLet me rephrase. Having a comp on the TTi vs not having a comp on the rival S. Will the rival S allow me to shot in limited or any other class lower than open?
I have not shot any of the newer Staccato double stacks yet. Fortunately, one of my local ranges is a stocking Staccato dealer, so I'm going to test it head to head against my current top dog, an STI DVC 3gun. Funny thing, the STI is roughly the same price as a comparable Staccato. Going to be interesting trying them together.
1st time viewer. You guys are likeable and seem knowledgeable. Very fair choice of entry to experience level of competition guns. A realistic casual price increase right through to the top of the tier, before getting into some pretty pricey custom competition & race guns. Keeping it under $5K (gun only) is the optimum target market for people who don't have sponsors or large sums of disposable cash. 😏 Great video. Great explanation of each gun. I like seeing the target hits, but i get the purpose of the video. It's not about how well you shoot, it's about how well the guns shoot, in your opinion. Next up? The Bougie Bulls. Start with the Staccato XC. Bul Armory Spitfire (show a race gun). Atlas Gunworks Erebus. Infinity. Etc. 😮😂
Thanks for the feedback. We're working on a way to show hits as well with multiple camera angles. Andrew and I are both half-decent shooters, so I think it would add more validity to what we're talking about. Next up is a full review of a budget 2011 that we've both fallen in love with...the MAC 9 DS. We need a few more subscribers to do a bakeoff of $30k+ worth of 2011s...but it's not out of the question in the future :D
I'm going to land this question here. I have a P320 x5 Legion and the trigger has 0 overtravel. This will be great for some people but not for me. Is out there any trigger that can add a bit of overtravel after the trigger disconnects from the sear? I would love to have a little movement after the trigger breaks.
All P320 have the same issue...which also makes the 320 unique. The FCU design doesn't allow a ton of options. I know Grey Guns does a trigger that a lot of folks like.
I have the Canik Rival great pistol to start with add a w74 guide rod and a 29 newton firing pin spring and it get even better the staccato is like a cheat code
I'm an Idaho Spud but I married the daughter of an Ohio State Buckeye. I like ye old father in law so I'll give your channel a shot. I am not a competition level shooter, more of a dude that grew up going into the hills with friends shooting random stuff, but I do like competition pistols because they're fun to mag dump at stuff. Looking forward to the review.
Great video. Looks like the best shooter to me was the CZ, even though some of the others were preferred. I personally shoot with a P320 X5 Max and find the other shooters using the Shadow 2's having a better time with trigger manipulation. Also, it seems to me that recoil management id better as well. After this video, I may pick up a Shadow 2 to replace my carry optics division gun.
My pa gave me a EAA witness well at least I believe that is what it is. He got it like 20-25 years ago but I haven’t been able to find much about it or get any extra magazines for it. It’s an all steel hammer fired gun maybe like a 4 inch barrel. Looks similar to a CZ
Can / did y'all do a video going over IDPA regulations and tips? I've noticed most content creators tend to focus almost solely on the super high-speed USPSA stuff.
We don't shoot IDPA, but we can cover some of that in future videos. Again, we just want to put out content folks want to see. We both spend more time with USPSA.
@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER All good. If y'all do decide to run some IDPA, I think your style of presentation would be greatly appreciated. No rush. I'll wait.
Except the trigger is the first part I see competitive shooters swap out in a Canik. To be honest it happens with most guns, but the best trigger still gets swapped out.
The Rival is a little over sprung from the factory in my experience. May consider dropping in a new recoil spring assembly to soften it a bit. I did, and it made a pretty big difference with faster drills.
Few people beat me to the DH3 frame but still a good video though I know you mentioned in another comment that y'all mainly partake in USPCA as a suggestion even if it's not IDPA related I would include that info like the different classes by what you shoot bc I think it's important for people to know like I originally did comp before my accident at work as a way of training and even got paid for some events and matches though I shot in various different groups and I used my work/duty gun and trimmed down version of my duty belt or shit I didn't need. But someone mentioned it above I shot my first steel match in production class with a vp9 and had to learn difference between shooting a 40 & 9. Why it's important is there are guy that will go order and wait for a Hayes Custom or one of the other many 2011 manufacturers that are hand built(big reason for the cost) but not know comps and ports could put them in open division and you have a brand new person going against pro's. Though I am sample of 1 I have heard others mention that Carry Optics is probably the biggest or most joined & I know they have a CO limited but I honestly get confused at classes but before some goes and drops I would say $1500 min between pew, ammo, gear what they are getting into also I would explain there are some local clubs that will hold a match that follows an organization but not sanctioned, like I showed up to my first 3 gun after my injury and it was a local match not sanctioned and they had their own rules I had a basic VP9 my Benelli M4 (no extension) and a multi purpose AR in 556 that I built they ran it like sports brackets so I had to compete against a random person and that guy was a pro shooter I knew showing up in a wheelchair I had a challenge but wasn't expecting to be put first round against a pro and it discouraged me to the point I haven't done 3 gun since though I do shoot pistol in carry optics Me personally I was lucky to get some support and though not part of the cool legion club I built an X-Five Legion for a lot cheaper than buying one(only regret is not knowing about Icarus or Fdez Werx beforehand) but the DH3 is basically a fde version of the X5 with Dan's flair added on to it(any Sig in DH3 line is for an amazing pro for Sig named Dan, it's like the Rose collection was an idea Lena had another pro for Sig) What I kind of find funny is they already have a competition rifle inspired by Dan but him and leads are going to worlds comp and actually using a different rifle think on the mcx platform. Sorry rant over Another thing I think people need to look and do homework on is aftermarket support for whatever setup you want to run so for me one of my biggest fears being in a chair besides getting stuck in sand which has happened is my pew falling out of the holster which is an automatic dq so I wanted some kind of retention so with my background I have tried alot of holsters and always went back to Safariland fortunately there is a company called RDR gear they modified my holster because Sig already had a X5 Carry I think either way the X5 Legion is a 5" barrel vs 4.5-4.7 of the other one but it was an issue I ran into also I will say 95% but could be wrong of the gear I am used to using and used for multiple decades before becoming paralyzed at work works great for military and public safety comp gear is whole different animal, so like guns what I like or works for may not work for you so I would check out few options and make sure they work with you setup. If your looking for a gun & you don't have many friends that have have a variety see if there is any local ranges that might do rentals like I wouldn't mind taking friends out but I not only got screwed by a FFL on a blue label purchase if I was also in a boating accident luckily my comp gun wasn't on that boat but I often refer people to a local range they have a deal they rent by caliber + ammo so say for $20 you can go try every 9mm they have also range time is by day not hourly there are some that charge hourly which can get expensive they also charge per gun to rent but say it costs you $200 for the day to go find what you like though it may feel wasted it's not I can tell you how many pews I bought over the yrs that felt great holding it in the store & it sucked unless it's something special once you buy something even if unfired it's used & some dealers can be brutal. Also around here a lot.of the ranges that are FFL's you get range time when you buy something from them like one does 30 free days. Though I hope it's ok to mention this if not I can apologize later if you or anyone you know has a disability civilian or veteran there is actually a really neat event that takes place currently at Sig Sauer in NH in the fall and last yr we had people travel from all over its 2 days of instructions and classes 3rd is a match that has a good mix of stages what you may see at USPCA IDPA or Steel. I like IDPA for the scenarios like last yr there was one at the movies and they set up a range like a theater different stage set up as a coffee/cafe(only stage I shot a hostage but not going to lie yea it's cheaper not doing it but many jobs there is slight chance of it happening) but I will say though I don't like IDPA because some of their rules are stupid and who ever created them has never been in an actual gun fight though it's just procedural points added on but I think it's one of a few where uspca & idpa have different rules also if you are unclear on anything before a stage ask the rso or whomever is in charge. Though not my current goal but the event I mentioned above was started by a combat wounded vet that became first wheelchair sponsored pro shooter and though shoots for a different company now he wants to get more people with disabilities into shooting sports. For me to get better besides training more(something I think we all say) but I do need to get a off-road electric chair bc I do loose a lot of time when you have to move & alot is oitdoors. Lastly though I would love that ammo and I legal can have it shipped to me as all my comp ammo has been I sort live in a Commie state that forgot what we did to the Brits like 35mi from the State house mind you the Masons and others re-created dumping of tea earlier this year and they reenacted some of Concord & Lexington yet the Dems and rinos still don't get we became a free nation for a reason & 2A wasn't created for hunting wild game different hunting. But it's not just here it's everywhere if you don't study history it will repeat itself. So even though there is like 5 companies that will ship to me your supplier is probably not one of them Though not sure who your sponsor is & i get your a smaller channel right now but if you ever do something like this or comp related or whatever topic is be neat if your GAW was geared towards that so like ammo I use and find I do well with is the Federal Synthetic which is a sponsor & one of the official ammos for USPCA though it does feel like kind of cheating using 150gr 9mm @ 890fps but I was was taught sometimes it's any port in a storm lol great content and reviews.
I love my CZ 75 SP-01. Would it have killed them to have a decocker? I know how to use it because most guns I shot growing up (1988 high school grad) were revolvers and I've seen idiots drop the hammer wrong and discharge fortunately not at anything. People always want to try it out but I have to be that guy who says "no" and looks like a douche to people who are just starting out shooting. I have 2 Caniks, not one of the new fancier ones but the two I do have, the Canik Mete SFx and the TP9 SFx are fantastic. I think I paid a total of $990 for both of them. I know only one is technically a competition pistol but the Mete is my favorite long slide pistol to shoot out of all of my long slide pistols, that includes my CZ, H&K VP9 Competition and others I've spent more money on than both Caniks combined. I did just get the Walther PDP in the 5" and been able to shoot it once and it might replace the Mete as my favorite long slide pistol. I have the PDP 4" and it's absolutely fantastic. I don't like optics on most pistols but on the PDP I do. Explain that, I can't.
Canik killed it with their competition series stuff. I don't know how they can squeeze so much value into the price consumers pay. They're killing all the other manufacturers in that department. Big fans here!
It varies. Most of the time I run a Trijicon SRO (2.5 MOA) and Andrew runs a Trijicon RMR (1 MOA). However we both have guns with Delta Point Pro, EO Tech EFlex, and Holosun 407/507.
honestly, there are better deals for a competition 2011 than the XC... my biggest gripe with it is that while its competition focused, its a gun with no division in USPSA... sure it fits in Open Division... but you're at a disadvantage because its not a major gun... in my opinion, the Masterpiece Arms DS9 Open is a much better choice, and its only 200 bucks more...
Absolutely! We just didn't have a MPA handy. The higher echelon of 2011's are sweet in general (Atlas, Infinity, MPA, etc.). If someone is looking at a Staccato for USPSA, the XL is the way to go! Even in 40 isn't bad and meets Major criteria.
USPSA and our house leagues that are run similarly. We do USPSA, house 2-gun, house practical pistol, Steel Challenge and house Steels. Little bit of everything. However, we don’t focus too much on IDPA.
I'd like to have that ammo, I'm currently behind enemy lines in commiefornia. A supply drop would greatly help out, especially since we're about to get taxed 20% on everything gun related starting July first.
One of the better comparison videos I’ve seen. Thanks for the content guys!
I would’ve loved to see the PDP match steel frame here!!!
CZ. That's it. That's the pistol.
No argument here! #CZFanBoi
Got one, love it, but I also love my canik mete sfx.
Hey guys you have a very great lineup of pistols in this video. Myself personally have purchased the canik rival a few months ago and I really enjoy shooting it. Canik is like a cheat code for getting an upgraded weapon early in game. They're just sweet...especially for the price point!

Zak and Andrew thoughts on Shadow Systems new comped pistols , have you received any of them and have you fired them . Thanks K
We've both shot the G17-sized on (I can't keep the names straight), and they shoot great. If you're a "Glock Guy" you'll really enjoy them!

Where are you seeing a Staccato in competition?
The comp puts the gun in open decision where it would be at a disadvantage.
Local USPSA. Dudes just end up in open. The XL is the better choice for USPSA. We also host "house leagues" and the XC is popular in our divisions.
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTERI run a XL in limited optics..

How was the Canik trigger?
The Canik trigger is AMAZING! By far the best trigger from the factory for the price point.

So even though there is like 5 companies that will ship to me your supplier is probably not one of them
Though not sure who your sponsor is & i get your a smaller channel right now but if you ever do something like this or comp related or whatever topic is be neat if your GAW was geared towards that so like ammo I use and find I do well with is the Federal Synthetic which is a sponsor & one of the official ammos for USPCA though it does feel like kind of cheating using 150gr 9mm @ 890fps but I was was taught sometimes it's any port in a storm lol great content and reviews.
Great video.

Cz is so nice. Xc felt so good in the hands for me
Either are great options!
Canik is pretty neat!
Canik killed it with their competition series stuff. I don't know how they can squeeze so much value into the price consumers pay. They're killing all the other manufacturers in that department. Big fans here!
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER Most Definitely! Price is on point as well as reliability.

Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh forgot , what optics were you running?K
It varies. Most of the time I run a Trijicon SRO (2.5 MOA) and Andrew runs a Trijicon RMR (1 MOA). However we both have guns with Delta Point Pro, EO Tech EFlex, and Holosun 407/507.
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER Thanks all great choices

Amazing done hope I get the ammo
That Staccato is crazy level.
Yep! It's a cheat code!
I love them all
honestly, there are better deals for a competition 2011 than the XC... my biggest gripe with it is that while its competition focused, its a gun with no division in USPSA... sure it fits in Open Division... but you're at a disadvantage because its not a major gun... in my opinion, the Masterpiece Arms DS9 Open is a much better choice, and its only 200 bucks more...
Absolutely! We just didn't have a MPA handy. The higher echelon of 2011's are sweet in general (Atlas, Infinity, MPA, etc.). If someone is looking at a Staccato for USPSA, the XL is the way to go! Even in 40 isn't bad and meets Major criteria.
I havnt tried a canik yet
They are sweet!
Subbed, nice video
Thank you!

So what kind of competition are you calling”competition pistol”?
USPSA and our house leagues that are run similarly. We do USPSA, house 2-gun, house practical pistol, Steel Challenge and house Steels. Little bit of everything. However, we don’t focus too much on IDPA.
Good video. CZ all the way.

A target cam would have been nice.
Working on that actually. We're on a shoestring budget, but we're improving the quality every time. Half of this is shot on an iPhone lol

Nice
I'd like to have that ammo, I'm currently behind enemy lines in commiefornia. A supply drop would greatly help out, especially since we're about to get taxed 20% on everything gun related starting July first.
Supply drop not authorized at this time. You’re on your own soldier. Godspeed. 😂
Show me the ammo! Please 😂
