We had to cry foul until S3, then we finally got back the TNG crew but they still have their wonky way of writing and producing. They built up his dreams like a horror story. And they built up Amanda's character only to have her die at the end. That weird hand was an unnecessary horror special effect. Star Trek is not a horror show. Now that I'm watching Fringe and realizing that it was also a Kurtzman production along with Sleepy Hollow, I realize his production team conflates SciFi and horror. Really, it would be great if they could do Star Trek more like Alias.
@@auberginebear Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to choosing to include a legacy character by design from the beginning... not as a ratings grab half-way through the series.
The Dax symbiote, if still alive, would be too old and large for joining, it'd be in the pools breeding. Or just as likely is that they died in The Burn given their love of Starfleet.
I can see one or maybe two at most, but they can't rely on nostalgia for the entire faculty. I think the EMH would be a good choice, of course he'd age himself to appear more "professorly". As for Discovery crew, I'd like to see Pelia, Tilly, and Reno. Reno is so freakin' funny I can't imagine NOT including her.
Funny thing about Worf's evolution is he went from stereotypical Viking Barbarian to Samurai Bushido. Going Zen isn't contradictory to the Way of the Warrior, it complements/supplements it.
Garth of Izar. With his powers he's effectively immortal. Now that he's sane again, he could teach courses in Strategic Thinking, Tactics, Diplomacy and Dealing with Trauma.
First, in the Pelia segment it should be the FIRST time Spock hijacked the Enterprise. But you forgot about support staff. How about Neelix running the mess hall, and putting Quark in charge of the student union?
You know Tilly did bring up a good point Things would be a lot more interesting if SFA Had a mentorship program Having notable individuals becoming professors and mentoring promising individuals
I absolutely agree with Pelia being in SFA. Holograms are impractical because the hero ships didn't have the only heroes in Star Fleet and the heroes we know are aging up , symbionts aren't really going to be the characters that we loved (we may love the new character, but they won't be the same. I liked Ezri, but she wasn't Jadzia, it was a neat gimmick to make her Dax but didn't really give me an inbuilt connection to her. Ezri just earned that as a new character). Cast members from SNW are currently the age we know them as and Pelia is just damned cool. She could be on both shows for a couple years (guest starring on SFA every few episodes until the SNW finale, then taking a front seat afterward). Maybe she left Star Fleet a few times over the centuries, just to keep from getting bored and happened to be away from any starships when The Burn hit. She spent a couple decades living a simple life on a planet disconnected from the rest of the galaxy and now that Star Fleet is back, she'll decide it's time to "get back to work" but since she's been out of the technological loop for so long she wants to study current tech while teaching Fed History until she feels comfortable being an engineer again. She gets to be a student and instructor at the same time. It would also be neat to see healthy hologram Christopher Pike in command of the NCC 1701-T... but there are going to be a lot of heroic captains and crews between 2400 and 3069. They could bring him back just because of hotness, that hair should guarantee him a spot in eternity.
Yes please. And either don't explain why he's there at all, he just always was. Or, plot twist, he's the 8472 Boothby .. just because he genuinely finds it relaxing just being Boothby
Not as a teacher obviously but, as some inspiration for a command class, it would be amazing if they could work in the footage of James Kirk's opening speech from the 1990's Starfleet Academy game as a hologram in the same way they used the recording of Zefram Cochrane at the launch of the NX-01 to send them on their way.
About Dax, we do know where a later version of the symbiote ends up...though not the actual time. Enterprise has Captain Dax of the Enterprise NCC-1701-J
I always thought that the Academy should have Academy Starships, where cadets get some hands on training with Starship operations and a training in the department they are considering specializing in. Like smaller ships that usually do stellar phenomenon observation, planet surveys, and cargo runs, lots of cargo runs to move the smaller cargo that larger cargo transports don't have to move, with head officers on board that serve as instructors in their specific department, like it could be the final years before graduation, that way the cadets are already familiar with how starships operate before getting their first official assignments after graduation.
Here is one that could possibly live that long: Earth History Teacher Guinan. I mean we saw her in the time of Mark Twain looking the same as in The Next Generation. As an El-Aurian she may not be exactly as long living as Pelia, but she lived through a lot of Earth's history.
I agree that Pelai would be a great teacher at Starfleet Academy, not just of engineering but of history from her experience traveling incognito on Earth for centuries. I especially would like ot hear her stories of being the wife of a taxicab mechanic in New York City in the 1970s and 80s. 😏
What about from TNG: Data, & Geordi LaForge, and Dr. Beverly Crusher, From enterprise: Dr. Phlox, and T'Pol, From DS9: Dr. Bashir, and Quark, From Voyager: Captain Janeway, Seven of Nine, & Neelix,. From Discovery: Tilly, and Reno.
Data, assuming his new form can live as long as his TNG self could have had he not been atomised in Nemesis, although there'll probably be just yet another Soong that just happened to look identical to all the previous Soongs (and of course, Data, Lore and B4!), because there always is... :P
Having recruited professors to teach at university, your choices are based on favoritism toward particular characters instead of actually asking yourself if the characters you chose even like to teach, and have good people skills. Data, Worf, Belanna, the holo Doctor, and even Picard aren't given me teacher vibes. Many on this list aren't flexible and don't understand how to actually interact with people. Data, although patient, is always searching to be human. Students would find his courses boring and unrelatable. Worf, who would be a good instructor for self-defense and war tactics, failed as a father and has rarely shown interest in mentoring students. Belanna, despite being hot headed, was a skilled engineer, but didn't have a lot of friendships. That Paris and she hooked up was a surprise. Picard has never liked kids and tolerated Wesley. Despite being upset about not knowing about Jack, one got the feeling Picard never really bonded with Jack or mentored him. If he had, Jack would not have been such a jackass at his first posting. Second, you forgot core courses that all students must take in the first years of university such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, languages, art, diplomacy, PE, and even travel and hospitality management. So here are my recommendations! Sociology and Psychology: Deanna Troi, Ezri Dax (you need these two women because of the high levels of unliving, homesickness, parental and relationship problems) Languages and Communication: Uhura, Hoshi Sata, Jake Sisco Art and Education: Keiko O'Brian Diplomacy: Spock, Mrs. Troi (yes, she gets on people's nerves, but also gets things done), Saru, Muggi (who was responsible for getting women to wear clothes and the clean up of her home world) PE and Dance: Beverly Crusher, Worf Travel and Hospitality Management: Joseph Sisko, Leeta, Rom, Quark Science and Engineering: the LeForge family, Scotty, Reed and Mayweather, Miles O'Brian (not because of his drinking game, but because of his outstanding experience of fixing things with little resources) Religion: Kira, Chakotay, Neelix Nursing: Dr. Chapel and Nurse Ogawa Officer Training Program: Burnham, Georgiou, Tilly, Riker, Troi (it's not all about being a captain, but being a good follower and doer), Sulu, Bashier, Stamets and Culber (the one-two punch when it comes to crazy things that happen to officers) The reason I picked officers from different departments is because everything isn't about flying the ship and battle tactics! Most never make captain, but have to actually run the departments they have been assigned to! And why isn't Kirk on here? It has nothing to do about me not being a Kirk fan and everything to do about how Kirk would carry himself. Like Picard, Kirk is missing the human touch. Plus, his style of cowboy diplomacy would be fine for his time, but not for the future. An example of this is how the Federation President Rillak and Suru had to talk down the Breen from starting a war. The fact that you can't go in most situations guns a blazing is of upmost importance. Furthermore, Kirk really didn't take time to self reflect aside from the point of him getting older. At least with Burnham, we know she's done the work on herself. The same for several others on this page.
If you're including Pelia for having been around forever & a day, how about Guinan? A Vash hologram could assist Picard with archeology. What about a Q? They've seen everything. And IMAGINE THE FIELD TRIPS...authorized or otherwise😂
Kurtzman's IMDB says SFA won't be released until 2026. Section 31 is already in production to be release 2025 while SFA is in pre-production. There also appears to be a podcast in production called Khan Ceti Alpha V.
Missing Guinan, another long lived member of Star Trek. Also missing Data. Tuvok, a Volcan that would still be living. 7of9, though would be a ship captain her self. Then there is the actor ' Jeffery Combs ' who has been in every single Star Trek series since Next Gen at least as a guest in one episode.
Villains. You have holographic teachers in the form or James Kirk (please oh please have Vic Mignogna playing him) and The Doctor. There is this AMAZING opportunity to have classes taught by persons with very much non Star Fleet perspectives. A sort of multiple lessons environment. Obviously the students would need regular reminders that the philosophies taught in these classes are NOT the Star Fleet way. That said, a lot more than st54rategy could be learned in Khan Noonien Singh's military tactics class. A lot more than organization and bureaucracy could be gleaned fro, the Borg Queens seminar on large scale governments. "Q's" theoretical physics classes would be more about thinking outside the continuum than inside the box. You get the idea. From a series perspective this is definitely an opportunity for some fun cameos from people that would otherwise not be able to be in further Star Trek for obvious reasons AND would be an amazing opportunity for a "FootHold" episode. You know where the villain(s) that you have been WAITING for the holo-deck malfunction to allow to actually BE a villain secretly is taking the academy over in a 2 part season finale only to find out at the end of the episode that it was all a team work exorcise for the entire student body that only the faculty we in on. Even Prof Moriarty, now an actual professor of dimp9omaxy and espionage, was only partly 3ware of the nature of the exorcise as he added a few lines of code to himself to make it interesting for himself. And serious note guys, if the actual Moriarty is not finally free and an actual professor in this, Star Trek should just give up and go home.
You know, it was originally a seven year mission... I sort of believe that space work is tough and that after the 'mission,' Star Fleet officers need to have some time on their home worlds to retrace themselves, work on their theories, research, recouperate, and perhaps those qualified should be given Academic Fleet Sabbatical. In STO the idea of emergency holographic automation seems to follow suit with like that which we know from the Dr. and VOY. If in battle, the crew should be compromised, or for some other reason, the holograms relative to the mega computer on every starship, should avail themselves to mission fidelity until the crew is capable. I think in places in the galaxy, like say the Dyson Sphere, or some very remote place other than that, that yeah, holo-education is really practical. In SFC it seems almost like a template for the assailability of holograms relative to interstellar endeavors. I'm a firm believer in the seven year mission concept, and larger more deep space capable star ships might find themselves simply docked at seven year intervals and perhaps intentional chronologies for mission intent might find itself in a seven-base chronological scheduling.
fun thought experiment but, due to demonstrated reluctance for paying royalties for previously created characters (why Nick Locarno became Tom Paris) it seems more likely they will NOT go to the well of past Trek characters for ongoing roles. guest roles, sure. ongoing roles are unlikely unless it's a main role, ie Picard.
B'elana would go insanely mad having to deal with obnoxious students like herself. In terms of spaceship engineering Harray Kim might be the better pick as a professor as he would be more patient with his students and he has a lot of practical and theoretical knowledge. Also how on earth could one ignore Ensign Sato on languages? She basically created the basis for the translator and she is a genius in terms of analysing and comprehending languages. Plus she already has teaching experience from the tme when she lived on earth before the events of the enterprise series.
NO, all the call back to captain /legacy characters is just fan service. Appreciate it but NO. Here's one ''NOBODY WILL FIGHT ABOUT'' mr. ''BOOTHBE'' He has been there for so many, but HOW? Boothbe is a Lanthanite Played by Jeffrey Combs His story arch could see him ending so giant galactic war. He didn't want the responsibility of being the Emperor. So, he's been hiding out at Starfleet to understand different cultures and species. Or, playing the long game he's actually shaping the minds and policy of the universe. There's got to be more to his story. Boothbe has a world of knowledge but why?
I would swap out ANY engineer for Torres. Charles Tucker, Reno, and most certainly Scotty! Captain Sulu would be a superb instructor, as would JAG Capt. Phillipa Louvois for UCMJ studies.
Since it seems his lineage has been involved in every Trek since 2024, they would have some Soong. Though one was not on-screen, you just *know* a Soong got his hands on Korby's tech.
Improvisation and smuggling techniques: By Prof. Harcourt Fenton Mudd. "How to disappear and be nowhere, yet everywhere." A course on subterfuge, by Luther Sloan.

Zimmerman, would be the Dr. Cox of Starfleet Academy.
Garth of Izar. With his powers he's effectively immortal. Now that he's sane again, he could teach courses in Strategic Thinking, Tactics, Diplomacy and Dealing with Trauma.
Business school taught by the Grand Nagus. Inconceivable!
Data would be a fun teacher
First, in the Pelia segment it should be the FIRST time Spock hijacked the Enterprise. But you forgot about support staff. How about Neelix running the mess hall, and putting Quark in charge of the student union?
That would be cool
You know
Tilly did bring up a good point
Things would be a lot more interesting if SFA Had a mentorship program
Having notable individuals becoming professors and mentoring promising individuals
Data - Professor of Soongian Life
Reg Barkley- Professor of Holo Technology.
Dr Flox - Exobotany
I think they should’ve done a Starfleet Academy series based on The Enterprise time. No Federation
Please bring Boothby back. He teaches the cadets as much as any of the professors!
Yes please. And either don't explain why he's there at all, he just always was. Or, plot twist, he's the 8472 Boothby .. just because he genuinely finds it relaxing just being Boothby
If he's not tending the roses, what the hell are any of us doing there in the first place?
@@himdel He might well be El Auran, like Guinan.
Ray Walston is no longer with us
@@potsdam28 ever heard of AI holographic animation?
Seeing both Pelia and the doctor going at it would be an absolute treat. I would love to see a dynamic with those two together.
I wanted Nog, barclay, dr mbanga to teach self defense, tpol, and worf.
Positronic studies with Prof. Data. He could also teach an evening class in feline care.
One person that I would say is Ginan from TNG
I could see a descendent of Miral Paris played by Dawson, or a class on the writings of Jake Sisco and the Dominion War.
You absolutely nailed the rest of this episode love!
2:10 Thank you KANSAS!!
Loved this..need a second set.
Teaching requires patience and wisdom. Hence, both Spock and Guinan should have been on your list.
(holo?)Quark could teach business and economics.
Someone cut out part of the intro in the final edit lol.
Odo would be great at teaching inter-species diplomacy. Guinan should run an on-campus lounge to give advice to students.
Guinan would be an excellent guidance counselor.
Odo could conceivably be alive
Yes❤️❤️🥰🥰💕💕
@@tsharabrown3719oh I agree
Who put Wesley's head on the alien? Fess up!
Sorry :(
Here is one that could possibly live that long: Earth History Teacher Guinan. I mean we saw her in the time of Mark Twain looking the same as in The Next Generation. As an El-Aurian she may not be exactly as long living as Pelia, but she lived through a lot of Earth's history.
Data is all we need.
Riker could teach command
Chakotay would also be a great interspecies relations instructor
And *sigh* Flox could teach exobiology.
Flox❤️❤️💕💕🥰🥰
@@michaelaldredge-greenwell1692 **Phlox.
I agree that Pelai would be a great teacher at Starfleet Academy, not just of engineering but of history from her experience traveling incognito on Earth for centuries. I especially would like ot hear her stories of being the wife of a taxicab mechanic in New York City in the 1970s and 80s. 😏
Spock would be great when it comes to classes related to: legal matters; diplomacy; linguistics; statistics; history; debate; Ethics
Writers, make it so!
Agreed
What about from TNG: Data, & Geordi LaForge, and Dr. Beverly Crusher, From enterprise: Dr. Phlox, and T'Pol, From DS9: Dr. Bashir, and Quark, From Voyager: Captain Janeway, Seven of Nine, & Neelix,. From Discovery: Tilly, and Reno.
Worf. LOL. Every time he gave a valid suggestion, Picard was always like, "Wait a minute Mr. Worf. Let's see what they do first."
Janeway would work, she time travels. it's no biggie, just another Tuesday.

Deanna Troi teaching psychology at Starfleet Academy
Data, assuming his new form can live as long as his TNG self could have had he not been atomised in Nemesis, although there'll probably be just yet another Soong that just happened to look identical to all the previous Soongs (and of course, Data, Lore and B4!), because there always is... :P
I want more Tig Notaro.
Theres 2 versions of the Doctor EMH out there
What about Data?
It is worth mentioning that Avery Brooks is a Professor in real life.
That is so cool
Not "per-SEE-do." It's "Pre-si-dee-OH."
Boimler should be the one to give the first command to the newly rebuilt Enterprise D saucer section.
Sociology and Psychology: Deanna Troi, Ezri Dax (you need these two women because of the high levels of unliving, homesickness, parental and relationship problems)
Languages and Communication: Uhura, Hoshi Sata, Jake Sisco
Art and Education: Keiko O'Brian
Diplomacy: Spock, Mrs. Troi (yes, she gets on people's nerves, but also gets things done), Saru, Muggi (who was responsible for getting women to wear clothes and the clean up of her home world)
PE and Dance: Beverly Crusher, Worf
Travel and Hospitality Management: Joseph Sisko, Leeta, Rom, Quark
Science and Engineering: the LeForge family, Scotty, Reed and Mayweather, Miles O'Brian (not because of his drinking game, but because of his outstanding experience of fixing things with little resources)
Religion: Kira, Chakotay, Neelix
Nursing: Dr. Chapel and Nurse Ogawa
Officer Training Program: Burnham, Georgiou, Tilly, Riker, Troi (it's not all about being a captain, but being a good follower and doer), Sulu, Bashier, Stamets and Culber (the one-two punch when it comes to crazy things that happen to officers) The reason I picked officers from different departments is because everything isn't about flying the ship and battle tactics!
The holo Doctor would be a great teacher. I would take his classes.
Way too many holograms.
This is wish fulfillment of a fictional series for at not yet made TV Show.
I say 'bring on the Holograms!'
Well done. Thanks
Wouldn’t the new Data have also survived?
Love you. Also it’s press-I’d-eeh-oh 😊😊 we say things weird here sometimes

Finnegan would be the most fun professor
Great ideas!
I have to agree with you. I also don't see Worf teaching either unless it is self-defense.
Guinan would be a great teacher too.
NO, all the call back to captain /legacy characters is just fan service. Appreciate it but NO.
Here's one ''NOBODY WILL FIGHT ABOUT'' mr. ''BOOTHBE'' He has been there for so many, but HOW?
Boothbe is a Lanthanite Played by Jeffrey Combs
His story arch could see him ending so giant galactic war.
Janeway, for sure, B’Elanna yes! Lewis Zimmerman yes! Dax, possibly!
Since it seems his lineage has been involved in every Trek since 2024, they would have some Soong. Though one was not on-screen, you just *know* a Soong got his hands on Korby's tech.
