Feeling like a triple lottery winner over here. My local store converted the crypts to underwater before sale. No melt, beautiful plant. Now I’m here, looking to learn how 2 propagate.
@@BobMossNanoTanks I suspect that folks who are interested in aquatic plants might have a few things growing around the yard and / or house. In SAD news, the raccoons managed to mush the netting down on my patio tub last night and trash my waterlily and experiment with aquaponic cherry tomatoes. Doesn't look like they got through the net, so I hope the goldfish are ok, and managed to get to their cave. Wow, that turned into a ramble. Have a good one!
Been having a lot of luck with ludwigia, rotala and pillo Moss as well. In my water conditions they have been thriving!!! Especially the moss. I have Java and Christmas moss about same as a year ago. I have pilo moss propagation and growing to the top of tank. It’s a beautiful green moss with a nice texture. It reminds me of green hills in Ireland.
That's awesome! The only plant I had difficulty with really is monte carlo and I seem to have saved it now. I thought rotala was going to be a challenge but my tank is completely full of it haha
I've never managed to kill a crypt, even with my first wendtii, it melted and I assumed it was dead after a few weeks, but I left the crown under the substrate and it came up a few months later! Don't just assume they're dead, if it doesn't regrow just leave it longer, let it rot, you may be surprised. If it really is dead it's probably still feeding something else. If it causes problems then sure remove it, but in an established tank it should be no problem at all.
Anyone know what can cause them to melt in an already established tank? My wendtii reds have started to melt while I’ve got a full carpet of Monte Carlo, dwarf hairgrass , vallisneria Nana and they seem to be doing a lot better I’m using co2 and a good light
Perhaps it's competition for nutrients? Those other root feeders are also pretty demanding plants so they may be out competing the Crypt. Try some root tabs directly underneath them, it should help.
Crypt my corn 🌽. Oh I like fresh corn with a bbq. Popcorn. Popcorn from a theater. Lots of butter, anyone see any good movies lately? Great video again Bob . Come join us on the app Bob lol and bring some crypt popcorn
Best movie I've seen lately was Men in Black from the 90's haha. I have been super busy, just haven't got around to getting the app and joining the group.
This video was very helpful. I have crypts and they’re very tall..long stems and long leaves. If I do topping then it will grow thicker and not so tall?
I am not going to say the secret words. I did not see my name on the list. What the heck. Just busting on you buddy, good video, I wondered how to get little ones from Crypts.
You're like the fifth name lol. Time for some glasses ;) I was kind of surprised when I first pulled out a Crypt and saw the nodes, pretty cool way to spread it around.
@@BobMossNanoTanks I really need glasses. 😂 I should have know better. I have a few crypts that are getting big. I have a great one in my pumpkin tank. I like your tip on adding prime; I would not have thought of adding it. I know they say not to mess with the substrate due to ammonia. Thanks again for the great video.
@@BobMossNanoTanks I only use F because so much of the info available is given that way, to be honest. If more people on forums and YT used C, I would be a lot happier. The one situation I've seen someone choose F over C for a good reason was setting their hot tub temperature. In the ranges you want to set a hot tub, a single degree F is less of a change than a single degree C, so choosing to use F gives you finer control.
😮NO WAY😂Love your vids only just come across your channel as I was looking for why my crypt is going brown🙈Definitely funny whilst learning sh!t😁My kind of channel👍😁Nooooo!! I just had to edit whilst watching this vid I'm new to owning a 2 tanks(2&1/2 mths🙈)and I've got fancytails and fantails and you said they can't be in there now I'm destroyed😮NO wonder they're going brown😔
So happy to hear you enjoy the content! You can always try some other plants if the crypts don't work out. Something like java fern is quite a bit hardier.
@@BobMossNanoTanks sorry so many notifications I missed your reply🙈Thanks for the info I'll definitely will invest in more plants so a fern looks ideal from what I've seen on Google👍😀Thanks again 😀
The info and presentation was good, but I didn’t click the video to be bombarded by sudden, repeated, loud, obnoxious pop-culture clips. Will have to pass in the future, thanks.

Thete is a chance they melt just changing tanks, some types of crypts are just more sensitive than others.
Good info thanks! Crypts are great it just takes patience to get through the melt period. Love your intro
Thanks so much! The ones I moved into the Sanctuary tank are going through the melt period right now actually lol.
OMG The end of this video has me cracking up! 🤣 Very helpful information! Thanks!

Crypt My Corn.
I just started a new tank and bought some. They look good so far.
Welcome to the club! Best of luck! I think the ones I lost just weren't deep enough in the substrate when I planted them.
Just propagated my wendtii for a new cherry shrimp tank. Thanks bro👍
Awesome! Hope this helped a little! I might be pulling some wendtii by the end of the summer to the green jade tank to be honest.
Oh, you divide them like daylilies or hostas! Yay, thanks Bob!

Awesome advice dude thank you. from the uk herex
Thank you! Appreciate the positive feedback!
Crypts and mosses are my fav! Aquarium coop keeps there plants submerged, so you won’t get melt if any at all.
There can be melt from the shipping and change in water params but growing submerged limits that.
Crypt my corns? Whatever you say. Thanks for another great vid.
Thanks as always for watching!
Great video! Just bought new crypts and cut off all the leaves but now the stems are melting. Guess I should have cut them close to the substrate?
it's really hard to say, there is no perfect strategy. i tend to let them melt and then trim off the gross parts
Crypt my Corn! You always make me laugh, :) Crypts are one of my top favorites! I have a plant supplier who will always toss in a bonus Crypt. :)
I was mixed on them at first but after a few months with them, I have fallen in love. The leaves on the wendtii are gorgeous.

I stick around for the bloops
Glad you like em! I have been questioning taking them out recently.
I luck out with crypts. Never had a melt back, even with pet smart tissue cultures. Root tabs and a seasoned tank made them pop for sure!!!
Mine are melting even moving them from tank to tank in my own set ups. :(

I lost a few because they were invitro and the melt was too severe. I saved enough though that now I have a forest.

thank you! yes it can help if they are kind of stemmy, clip it at the bottom and it should sprout 2 from that spot.
