Tears are healing, they bring a catharsis that nothing else can. I’ve been challenged as an Empath, knowing that not only do I pick up on others emotions deeper than others, but I also pick up on the darkness that thrives in some people, although no one else can see it. My Christian beliefs include a knowing that death is not a conqueror, nor is it a finality. We don’t truly loose our loved ones, they’re asleep and one day we will all be awakened to a new day. So it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. And songs like this, although emotional and heart-wrenching, will become a thing of the past in that day. But until then, cry if it brings you wonder or pain because it strengthens your empathy and compassion and reminds you of what it means to be a caring and loving human being.
I have always LOVED Kelly's voice but this song touched me like few songs have. My parents divorced when I was 2 and while my dad lived nearby, he rarely made time for us. He then moved far away, saying there was "nothing keeping him here" (only his 6 kids and 3 grandchildren at the time). But the man I eventually married was and always has been an excellent father - totally involved in every aspect of our kids' lives and puts them first, even after we got divorced. We did 50/50 custody, which I never even thought to contest, as I was happy for my kids, that their father WANTED them!!!! Even when we went through periods of hating each other, I was always grateful that he was good and loving to THEM, as they were who mattered in the situation. They've benefited immeasurably by having both parents in their lives equal amounts post divorce. This song hit everything for me - the damage from my dad, leaving feelings of abandonment, worthlessness and little trust in men/fathers - to restoring that faith and trust in my children's father, knowing our kids would ALWAYS be loved and put first and never have to feel what I felt growing up.

I’ve been challenged as an Empath, knowing that not only do I pick up on others emotions deeper than others, but I also pick up on the darkness that thrives in some people, although no one else can see it. My Christian beliefs include a knowing that death is not a conqueror, nor is it a finality. We don’t truly loose our loved ones, they’re asleep and one day we will all be awakened to a new day. So it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. And songs like this, although emotional and heart-wrenching, will become a thing of the past in that day. But until then, cry if it brings you wonder or pain because it strengthens your empathy and compassion and reminds you of what it means to be a caring and loving human being.

I have always LOVED Kelly's voice but this song touched me like few songs have. My parents divorced when I was 2 and while my dad lived nearby, he rarely made time for us. He then moved far away, saying there was "nothing keeping him here" (only his 6 kids and 3 grandchildren at the time). But the man I eventually married was and always has been an excellent father - totally involved in every aspect of our kids' lives and puts them first, even after we got divorced. We did 50/50 custody, which I never even thought to contest, as I was happy for my kids, that their father WANTED them!!!! Even when we went through periods of hating each other, I was always grateful that he was good and loving to THEM, as they were who mattered in the situation. They've benefited immeasurably by having both parents in their lives equal amounts post divorce. This song hit everything for me - the damage from my dad, leaving feelings of abandonment, worthlessness and little trust in men/fathers - to restoring that faith and trust in my children's father, knowing our kids would ALWAYS be loved and put first and never have to feel what I felt growing up.

Yup, you’re certainly an empath… as am I. A blessing and a curse for sure. Kelly is absolutely phenomenal. She has such an amazing vocal range. The emotion in her songs gets me every time…

My daughter lost her father at 6 years old. 6 months later I met the man who is my husband now of three years (together for 7) and took my daughter in like his own. My daughter is now 13. This song gets me every time I hear it.

Okie's!! We feel the feels. We have been rich (parents) homeless (you live by MY rules) to not so homeless or rich... It's all about perception. Where you are. Personally, this so speaks tome about my dad leaving at 11 and mom and I rebuilding. Without a father... makes me cry. For HIM! HE has lost out on 27 years of grandkids. 😢
