Timelordwinterandsun I'm not really into real sports lol I find baseball and hockey boring, I watch the NBA but the Lakers suck now and LA doesn't have a football team.
@@qwertymanova2652 guess you didn't see Kobe Bryant score 61 points in NYC against the Knicks...the freakin fans turned on the Knicks and started cheering Kobe.
+Jeanine Basson Not really a sport, but Pitch Perfect does this too. Actually, a lot of movies about some competition (dance, spelling, whatever) have it.
The training montage has to be my favorite part of all sports movies, you get too see the grind behind the success and the heartbreak before you make it to the top
You guys forgot the cliche that when a bad looks for an amazing player and the bad team becomes really good because of the amazing player putting the team on his/her back.
Or the "Unifying Moment" that one scene where the team finally realizes they're all in this together. It's usually played for light laughs and involves music or brawling. (EX: the bar brawl scenes in Cool Runnings, The Replacements the first time the team rhythmically takes the field singing/dancing in Remember The Titans)
Remember The Titans is the Best Sports movie mainly because it didn't follow No. 1. They won every single game and was loved by everyone in town. The only cliches they followed that I can think of was the Two enemies on the same team become friends cliche. Inspirational speech cliche that gets reused a couple times, but come on its Denzel Washington. Lol Finally the tragic accident that inspires the team cliche. The only hitch was that this really did happen Lol
You left one out: The opponents always cheat. Yeah, I know, villains always cheat, but I feel that in sports movies it's much worse because, aren't sports supposed to be played by the rules? And how come nobody ever catches these guys at cheating?
Yeah cliches....the thing is you still watch old favorites like it's a live event. I guess it's just part of the human experience that excites us all. Sports don't build character they reveal it, and that is always amazing to watch.
I couldnt stop thinking how "A league of their own" does not fall in most pf these categories. I can only recall two aspects of these being in that film: The underdog and the montage...
my personal (un)favorite is the inner-city school that happens to be only full of black kids that brings in a random old white guy to coach them and "turn their lives around"
You forgot the one where someone close to the team dies.....it almost happens in every sports movie....longest yard(remake), D3, Remember the titans, When the game stands tall, just to name a few
The underdog team will always have: 1. The inexperienced but strong willed natural leader. 2. The goofy clown who scores huge points by dumb luck. 3. The big angry hulk who doubts his wimpy teammates have what it takes. 4. The super nice guy who's excessive niceness causes the team to lose, and as a result, question their morals and consider making dick moves like the antagonist team.
Fun fact: Daniel-san does NOT do the crane kick correctly. Because Mr. Miyagi says there's no defense for it if it's done right. In both Karate Kid 2 and Karate Kid 3 it's blocked. So he really only hits it once when his opponent isn't aware of what it is.
Work really hard and play really well but lose the last game only to realize that it's the friendship and teamwork that really matters rather than the numbers on the scoreboard. Also, teams of misfits/outcasts.
Yall forgot "You did it!....No, WE did it".
LMAO
I immediately thought "you got served" movie
+Amiri Copeland lmao.. Bro I heard steve Harvey messed up the winners of that movie too 😂😂😂
+J V OOOOH SHIIIATT!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 *HIGH FIVE*
YEAH!!!!!
You forgot the dying relative of the hero(es) asking him/them to win for him and magically making a recovery afterwards.
They mentioned it briefly in #7
+Rainbow Rising haha! happens almost in every sports movie :D
check out my top ten channel
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 True!!
@@kenrickkahn What is the movie at 4:18 ? I always forget the title
Not going to mention the disenchanted former pro who gets inspired to play again by a precocious young fan?
Above the rim
lmao seriously
Yap
I'd like to see a movie about someone who just stays on top throughout the whole movie and crushes the underdog haha
Haha then watch real sports
Timelordwinterandsun I'm not really into real sports lol I find baseball and hockey boring, I watch the NBA but the Lakers suck now and LA doesn't have a football team.
+Sir Boast-a-lot LA Galaxy... Ahhh, you meant soccer, right?
+Sir Boast-a-lot yeah LA is getting football next season. rip SD chargers
I'd like to see a movie where the protogonist never comes out on top and learns nothing.
Ya'll forgot the mean, hotheaded, and depressed dude who coaches a team of trouble making kids who don't respect him until the end of the movie.
hardball?
+Charles Chamberlain remember the titans, coach Carter, gridiron gang, etc
+Joseph Pullium bad news bears
+eli stewart Gordon Bombay in The Mighty Ducks
Pulling
Left out, "but dad, it's not my dream, it's yours"
Don't forget the old pro who was told he/she was wasted up and he/she will never win again but came back and proved a point to everybody...
utmost cliche number 1.
"they always win."
Also, the antagonist that becomes a good guy/girl when he/she is defeated.
Monstars?
I love this list. "You're the Best Around" and "Eye of the Tiger" are definitely cliche sports montage songs and yet they are so awesome.
- Rocky are you ok?
- Mwawa rwawowa
Top ten Animated Teens from Cartoons.
Ex: Danny Phantom, Randy Cunningham, American Dragon Jake Long.
You forgot Slow-mo at the very end. Literally EVERY sports movie has that lol.
the Crowd turns on their favorite
by the end
Bit unrealistic
@@qwertymanova2652 guess you didn't see Kobe Bryant score 61 points in NYC against the Knicks...the freakin fans turned on the Knicks and started cheering Kobe.
That wasn't a training montage in Karate Kid. That was competition.
The flying V would never work because they would automatically offside.
You forgot the ''BIG TEAM'' coach, who returns to his hometown to train the underdog team. Good Video! (Y)
Also in alot of movie, the team looses a game but then the other team gets disqualified so they get another chance
+Jeanine Basson Friday Night Lights
+Jeanine Basson Not really a sport, but Pitch Perfect does this too. Actually, a lot of movies about some competition (dance, spelling, whatever) have it.
That's weird NC recently made a video about sport movies from the late 80's & early 90's. And now this channel made a list of it.
"The Sacrificial Play" - The star player, athlete or team hands the victory off to a teammate/upstart/promising young rival.
...also "worthier and/or righteous" rival!!
I never was a fan of these underdog stories. They're all the same to me.
Then u are not a fan of rocky, arguably one of the best movies of all time
Brandon Correa I have never seen Rocky, but I'm sure that would be the exception.
Might I ask if the roadside ditch u live in has cable? Because if u haven't ever seen Rocky ur pretty fucking late
Brandon Correa I simply haven't gotten around to seeing it. But don't worry, it's on the long list of classics I'll see sometime. .
+Brandon Correa
I love "Rocky" a lot because of the underdog story, but sometimes it can become a bit too predictable in other movies
I don't even like sports. I just saw The Karate Kid as the thumbnail and clicked faster than humanly possible.
I know
The slow clap is so embarrassing it always brings tears to my eyes...
Rocky 1,2, and 3 are of pure heart. Cliche as they may be
The bad guy/team humbles up on defeat and salutes the winning good guy/team
The training montage has to be my favorite part of all sports movies, you get too see the grind behind the success and the heartbreak before you make it to the top
I like the South Path version where both teams try their best to lose so they don't have to play baseball anymore.
"When I get done with you, you're gonna be fartin' outta your mouth and talkin' outta your butt."
lmao xD
No Major League? I love that finale...definitely hearing Bob Uecker's excitement will get anyone to stand up and cheer.
Rookie of the Year, Like Mike, Angels in the Outfield and more: Whenever someone gets a superpower, it gets taken away at the end.
Prediction number 1 is underdog wins
aw yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
+No5712 you God damn genius
I haven't watched this list yet but I'm calling it right now....The last second score to win by 1 point will at least be top 3
Top batman Arkham moments
I just want to say that I LOVE Remember the Giants... one of my favorite cliché filled underdog team movies.
Yeah, you're right lol I meant REMEMBER THE TITANS... Thanks.
Lol!! That's great!! You earned your wings today, then!! Have a great day!!
for me one of my favorite cliche is that one players joins a terrible team and suddenly becomes great
"put em in a bodybag!! GYEAAA!!"
Herb Brook's miracle speech is my favorite of all times, easy.
You guys forgot the cliche that when a bad looks for an amazing player and the bad team becomes really good because of the amazing player putting the team on his/her back.
Excellent! Now we need a top 10 Animated Movie Cliches list!
I'd love to see a sports film where every last one of these cliches is reversed.
What about "they don't win but it doesn't matter"
4:16 RIP
Which movie was that?
What just happened
+Timothy O'Keefe The Blind Side... Based on a true story...
+$wag he means 4:17
this dude got ripped
+$wag not another teen movie is the title though
Or the "Unifying Moment" that one scene where the team finally realizes they're all in this together. It's usually played for light laughs and involves music or brawling. (EX: the bar brawl scenes in Cool Runnings, The Replacements the first time the team rhythmically takes the field singing/dancing in Remember The Titans)
SPORTS is the "True" meaning of life and the universe and purpose
The one they forgot was the moment where the team comes together as a team (Bar fight/Prison Scene in the Replacements)
Yup.Wasn't it a true story?
the strong guy on the team that doesn't believe in the Protagonist who ends liking him
My fav sports movie is coach carter
Lol this makes Blades of Glory even funnier xD
the "bad boy redemption"
"For the love of the game" win (memorial win)
My top picks are the "Giving Up Scene" and the "Coach's Speech" like they literally are in every sports movie i think
I love you, WM! You should do a TT worst sports movies.
You left one out: The opponents always cheat.
Yeah, I know, villains always cheat, but I feel that in sports movies it's much worse because, aren't sports supposed to be played by the rules? And how come nobody ever catches these guys at cheating?

Sports don't build character they reveal it, and that is always amazing to watch.
Still watch old favourites? You talking about the video or makers or peoeple
" Sweep the Leg " =))
Put him in a body bag!
+David Chacon lol "I went ahead and bought him a body bag."
+David Chacon "yeaaaaaaahhhhhh haha" God I hated that kid so much
Good list. Made me cry a little.
they forgot winning by 1 point.
Good list, but you really should have included the initially hostile crowd that starts cheering for the hero.
This list. Lmao! Y'all got it right! We love the underdogs!
Cool runnings man, so much love
I already have Eye of the Tiger stuck in my head.
You forgot the "We didn't win in the end but we are happy though" Just like in "Cars" and "Bad New Beards"
This is like the plot for every sport movie ever
Where's Mr. Miyagi's final speech? "Win, lose, no matter. You prove point." That was one of the most important lessons from Karate Kid.
you forgot the raising of the champions body and a freeze frame ending
Damn now I am crying. I know these scenes&movies are so dumb but I still love them :')
I love this channel so much
I couldnt stop thinking how "A league of their own" does not fall in most pf these categories. I can only recall two aspects of these being in that film: The underdog and the montage...
"HENSON dropped the ball!! Henson dropped the ball!" :D
Needed more clips from The Longest Yard...
I missed seeing the awesome training in Team America (over ONE NIGHT).
The Bad Boys should be # 1
We all like them...
Any given Sunday speech is amazing
You spoiled not another teen movie for me. I was watching it and had to go. then I come back and watch this.
You forgot the dad that puts way too much pressure on his kid to be the best because of his own shortcomings.
The Daniel san's Crane Kick is not a Illegal move...
In Some Karate Tournaments, Punchs to the face are forbidden.
But Kicks to the Head, are legal.
yeah the training montage because they just get that pro overnight. My victory song would have to be Freddy Mercury "another one bites the dust"
my personal (un)favorite is the inner-city school that happens to be only full of black kids that brings in a random old white guy to coach them and "turn their lives around"
My favorite sports movie is Glory Road. Don't know why but I think it's the best basketball movie ever.
Bring it onnnn
+Amiri Copeland lol 😂
see my "Sacrificial Play" comment
i got the slow clap when i learned how to tie my shoes. so emotional.
list gave me goosebumps
top ten most snow dumped at a ski resort in 1 storm, or most snow dumped in 24 hours at a ski resort!!!!!
The wise old man giving worldly advise.
wow i cant believeMajor Leage and "Wild Thing" was not in it :((
The slow clap gotta be the most awkward movie cliché in cinema history.
I forgot that kid from 'Rookie of the Year' was in the American Pie movies.
Watching this just reminds me of all the South Park episodes that poke fun at these cliques. XD
Excellent video!
How could you have footage from Dogdeball and a category for Cocky Antagonists, but NOT show off White Goodman? How? Seriously? How? LOL
You forgot the one where someone close to the team dies.....it almost happens in every sports movie....longest yard(remake), D3, Remember the titans, When the game stands tall, just to name a few
The underdog team will always have:
"Fucking Chuck Norris.....I won that dodge ball tournament!"
the number 1 clip.. mojo illuminati confirm!
God... The slow clap HAHAHHAH >
You forgot the commentators - every sports movie has commentators for the final game , even if it's little league.
I hate when slow claps happen when I'm in the theater and love it when they awkwardly die down
4:16 is from Not Another Teen Movie. Just in case anyone wanted to know.
Work really hard and play really well but lose the last game only to realize that it's the friendship and teamwork that really matters rather than the numbers on the scoreboard.
Also, teams of misfits/outcasts.
you forgot the sudden burst of superhuman reactions athleticism and intelligence
