Remember that the unexploded nuke in the center of Megaton (in Fallout 3) had a VaultTec logo on it.
It didn't. It was similar but different. Look at the texture.
@@homerj806 we've never seen that logo anywhere else, so it's too soon to draw conclusions.
In Filly The Ghoul was using explosive rounds that look like little bombs. He didn't switch because he didn't actually want to kill a Knight and have the Brotherhood after him, that's why he cut the coolant line instead. He didn't consider a single unarmed knight a threat (for good reason).
They have a long close-up of The Ghoul loading bullets in this episode specifically to show them - they clearly look like pointed, armour-piercing shells. You can also see he has had different types of shells on his bandolier through the entire series.
Also in the Philly fight, the revolver pistol with the specialist rounds jammed first thing so he had to swap to his carbine so no piercing ammo
That’s actually a great theory I didn’t think about that.
Or he just missed the spot. He notes a very specific place, not just shooting the chest of the armor.
@@Tijuanabill He doesn't really seem like the kind of person who misses much. In EP2 he seems to deliberately shoot the gun put of Maximus's hand in their fight.
Maximus' suit had tempered lining! They said it multiple times in the show. His suit doesn't have the weakspot
FYI, Mr House was at the Vault Tec roundtable. He was the owner of RobCo
I wonder if "Sinclair" is the _father_ of Sinclair of the Sierra Madre? Because as far as I recall, Sinclair of "Dead Money" only worked with "Big Mountain" reluctantly to get the facilities built for his casino/retreat
@@silverbladeTE Good chance, yeah
Love how they added these figures we know into the show.
@@silverbladeTE 😮 interesting
He probably immediately ordered the Platinum chip with the updated software for his bots. It was in route, and would have arrived the day after the actual strike.
BEST VIDEO GAME ADAPTATION EVER!
The Knight Titus armor had a “tempered lining”, which was pointed out twice in earlier episodes. That’s why the ghoul could t exploit the defect while fighting Maximus.
Thank you!!!! I kept thinking to myself why he didn’t shoot him dead ep 2
For further backing that vault-tec started the great war the bomb in megaton has their logo on it.
A undetonated bomb in new vegas with vault-tec logo also.
It's different logo, has less strips, different core
The answer to the Ghoul and BOS scene is that:
1. Titus’ armour had the tempered lining which Maximus mentions in episode 2
2. There’s a zoom in on the Ghouls ammo in the scene to show he’s using a different type of bullet than in Filly, likely armour piercing.
i figured that was always more akin to a western duel and this was a more, get it done kinda thing
I honestly don't think he wanted to kill the Knight in Filly, he was toying with a n00b.
Or he just missed/ran out of that kind of ammo.
@@jonnybrello4360pretty sure maximus was tossing ghoul around like a ragdoll until he clipped through the floor😂
@@TijuanabillI think that may be part of it
The only reason I can give about the Power Armor is he didn't have the bullets in Filly. He loaded new bullets before that fight.
I think it was more psychology vs. expediency.
The Ghoul isn't a "kill 'em all" person. We saw that when he didn't kill the young girl that was serving him.
He may tend to be a loner, but not exclusively so.
In the battle at the observatory, there was obviously no choice; the Brotherhood has a standing policy of killing ghouls, and they'd be exceptionally eager considering that he may have learned about the cold fusion.
With Max, there was still the possibility of working with him, so The Ghoul incapacitated him.
Another thing to consider is that he had fought in a power suit during the war, and had seen many men die. I suspect he has a certain amount of sentiment towards power armor users.
That and his pistol jammed in filly. He had to change weapons at the start of the fight with Maximus. Different caliber weapon that he clearly didn’t have armor piercing rounds for.
It’s takes time to load those bullets, time the Ghoul did not anticipating a need of. Why did Titus not go straight into Filly? I suspect it was a delay tactic. And he recognized that Maximus was a rookie.
I thought he got those bullets at the led farm last epissode
Maximus wasn't killing running people too :)
You might have missed this, but the lady that introduced Hank to Coop was Betty
Henry McLain is actually Hermes from Futurama. The guy who becomes a slave but feels the need to give them tips on increasing operational efficiency.
Coop didn't see Max as a threat, so he toyed with him.
21:07 He mentions the flaw of the power armor to bud in one of the flash back scenes. It could also be said he wasn't expecting power armor and didn't have armor piecing rounds that they zoom in on in the final scene there loaded.
Or he just missed the spot.
In their first meeting, he had a little respect for Max and could tell that he was a noob. It's why he did not kill him. Coupled with the fact that he himself dawned the suit of armor once upon a time. It's inherent not to destroy your fellow soldiers, regardless of the bounty that was at steak. At the end, the motivation changed.
In my mind, the reason for the Ghoul to not having exploited the weak spot on the T-60 early in the season was because he didn't have that right ammo (the spiky one) with him at the time. Probably he thought about getting ready for a possible fight with a power armor user, but then discarded the idea and when "Titus" showed up, that's why the Ghoul said "Are you fuycking kidding me?"
100% correct about the electricity starting fires when suddenly turned on. Happened during the weeks following hurricane Katrina
The Ghoul perhaps recognized a squire in knight's armor in Filly, was toying with him when the stakes were a bit lower.
In the vertibird first episode Maximus says to Titus I see you have the tempered chest piece. that's why he doesn't just kill him in Philly
At least Cooper Howard's wife never served him turkey bacon.
Perfect.
I can't wait to see what they consider to be cannon when we get to New Vegas. Is Mr. House still alive? Who won the battle at Hoover Dam? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS
I think canonically the NCR defended Hoover Dam from the Legion, not sure though.
2:48 Silver car at the back's one of only two cars in the show that looks like a Corvega.
Understandable, given how expensive it'd be to make every car look like the ones in the games. But it also gives us a sense that Corvega does _not_ have an absolute monopoly on car manufacturing in pre-War America.
Edit:
20:28 I don't think it's lazy writing, Coop not taking out Max in the armor's weak spot back in Filly. Coop just woke up a few days ago, after a year (?) buried in the dirt. I bet he's just trying to have fun, feel the joy of running around and fighting everyone. He already hobbled Wilzig -- which was his main objective there -- so in his mind he could probably just sit back awhile for a bit and enjoy himself.
Griffith Observatory's different though, since there're a lot of T-60s on the ground -- with a platoon of BoS light infantry with them. He's probably thinking that this one needs to be taken a tad more seriously than Filly imo, hence the Gunslinger + Grim Reaper's Sprint thing he did back there.
20:30 if you watch again you will see as the goul is asking if they fixed the flaw in the armor he is fondling a round of ammunition... a "flawless" armor suit is resistant to armor piercing rounds... the flawed weld is not resistant to armor piercing rounds. I just assume he didn't have any AP rounds during his encounter with Maximus.
The one Fallout game i never finished was New Vegas. Now im on a mission to finish it before the next season.
Love the games.
Love the show.
I better see a deathclaw in season 2 😁
I thought there would have been more of a reaction to "I'm fine Betty at 9:42.
Though there was quite a bit going on during this part of the show.
He missed it, he seems to have missed quite a few details through the show.
There have been *hints* in the games that Vault-Tec was actually the architect of the war, but never anything this concrete.
It's technically not confirmation that they actually pushed the button, but they were definitely willing to and may have.
That said,I think Vault-Tec was still caught off guard when the war started or else Janey wouldn't have been out on the surface with Cooper when the bombs dropped. But I'm sure we'll see.
Yeah, it confirms nothing and the notion is as old as the game series, that Vault-tec was behind it.
#1 Starting in Fallout 2 and onwards, there were hints that Vault-Tec started the war or at least were _planning_ on starting it, but the Chinese may have beaten them to it. In Fo2 it was learned from the AI in the Robobrain, iirc (sorry, it was long time since I played that!)
#2 The Ghoul in the BOS battle specifically loaded "Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot" rounds, he makes a point of it, also Titus' suit had the "tempered lining" which is more resistant to AP rounds
I agree with this. Vault tec was going to if one of the others didnt. Here is my reason they didnt.
Barb was high enough in vault tech to have advanced knowledge of when they would. Based on this why would she let her ex husband (who was never going to be in the vault now) have custody of their daughter the weekend the bombs would go off. No way she risks her daughter getting caught in a blast or not making it her vault in time.
@@dilligafwyt6095 Well reasoned :)
There's info on terminals etc, that suggest China might have struck first because of the "Super Mutant" project, and because of their advantage in stealth tech
Their bombers, subs etc WERE inbound for America for sure, but Vault Tec of course may always have dropped some nukes on either side on realizing this just to "make sure", who knows? :)
I'll point out three things:
1. I liked your genuine surprise at finding out Cooper's wife wanted to nuke the world, and seeing "Henry" meeting Cooper in the past.
2. There's still a bit of a timeline glitch with this show. The show establishes Shady Sands as "falling" in 2277, but Fallout: New Vegas takes place in 2281, four years after. Why the hell would the NCR care about New Vegas, if their own capitol had fallen?
and 3. The Moldaver thing bugged me also, about her surviving till now. A friend did have a headcannon explanation that they establish that she is a billionaire in the past, so it's likely she constructed her own shelter/vault, or bought space in a Vault-Tec one, that had some cryo-sleep pods in it. That's as good an explanation as any, I think.
Look at the animated end credits of the episode, it shows one way she might have been in cryo. That's why I suspect we'll see more of her in some capacity during season 2 in Vegas.
your 2nd point has already been talked about by the showrunners and bethesda. point 3.....vault tec wasnt the only one with the tech for staying alive all this time
I reckon he didn't have the right type of Ammo back in Filly, as he was specifically looking at what looked like some sort of armour piercing round in this episode.
One thing that didn't make the edit, so not sure if you picked up it, but when Lucy came into the Obsersitory complex, a Ghoul recognises her. It was the Ghoul that said thank you for releasing them at the SuperduperMart.
One of my favourite moments of acting in this episode was when Lucy agreed to go with the Ghoul, and says Okey Dokey, but in a totally driven, dark and deliberate manner, totally contrasting with that niaeve lost scared Okey Dokey she gave us when leaving the Vault initially. The Okey Dokeys over the series highlight her arc brilliantly.
Max meanwhile, his facial acting is brilliant. Through Dane attributing Moldever's death to him, he's achieving the status, fame, and recognition that he craved so desperately in the first episode, but his face is that out someone whose so conflicted and torn, between his old dreams and aspirations and the ones he gained with his travels with Lucy, as well as the dilema that this cold fusion tech, basically is the key to restoring Shady Sands or some iteration of it. Moldever's final challenge to him, is really weighing on him, and you can just tell it from his face.
By the way, having watched loads of reactions to this series, Non-Gamers are eating it up even moreso than the gamers in many cases, as the twists and surprises are even less predictable for them. Apparantly as well, sales of Fallout games has gone through the roof as loads of this non-Fallout people are dipping their toes into the games to find out more about the lore etc.
Great reactions.... loved your reasoning and thinking through the episodes, and can't wait to see your thoughts on Season 2
then the sentence from maximus comes back to what he said when he and lucy see shady sands for the first time, and she asks what happened that everyone wanted to save wet and they couldn't agree on how
New Vegas literally had an advertisement for Cryo Pods. It's not far fetched to think a millionaire scientist could afford one of her own, or a personal cryo chamber. And I highly doubt 31 was the only Cryo vault, in fact we know it's not because of vault 111. They have over a hundred Vaults right? there could be a couple dozen solely dedicated to cryo for all we know.
It's also weird you think Buds Buds is a copout when it's basically been laid out for you for multiple episodes. Sometimes the pausing gives good insight, other times you're just too in your head to even focus on the story or the surroundings. Sometimes you even see what happened and clearly don't understand.
I noticed it since the first episode when you didn't even realize the bomb dropped as you saw the flash happen. "What happened?"
Also paused at the worst time and missed the fact it was Betty who brought in Hank. And then you spend 2 minutes questioning stuff you would have caught if you focused up just a little bit before.
edit: Also hilarious you call it lazy writing or selective memory (definitely not the other thing that's been explained to you by others)...that's all projection my man. You have the most selective memory of any reaction I've seen. It's weird because I enjoy your reactions, I just wish you'd focus up and stop trying to solve the story in every scene you watch, while ignoring the story..
And then you questioning the point of cold fusion (something that doesn't exist, like the nuclear apocalypse or most anything in this alternate world) and then want to analyze why fires haven't broken out...because THAT would be lazy, to do all that for 8 episodes just to have it backfire and cause more fire in the world? Something that doesn't progress the story at all?! NOW THERE'S YOUR LAZY WRITING.
Because it's a Bethesda game, that epic moment when The Prydwen arrives, is also the moment that breaks the Brotherhood as a player faction, if you don't listen to the radio beacon, before meeting Paladin Danse. If you roll up to the police station before the Prydwen arrives, it doesn't matter if you listened to the breadcrumb beacon on your Pip-Boy.
Love how everyones path is corrupted even as they get what they want, Max looks so crestfallen as he is given his deal.
I mean, cryogenics was the main caveat of Fallout 4, so it's not too out of line.
Vault-Tec dropping the bomb has always been part of the Fallout glacier, it's one of the unconfirmed ideas along with the alien Zetans manipulating Vault-tec to do it. There is also the influence of the eldritch, a confirmed entity on the Fallout world, but with unconfirmed reach and influence. Since Bethesda has confirmed that the show is canon, this would now be the current accepted reason.
The ghould didn't have the rounds needed to shoot through armor when he met with Maximus the first time. This is why they put emphasis on him changing his rounds to the armor piercing ones in that shootout scene in the end.
Solid explanation... I always figured that Vaut-tec dropped the first bomb knowing the other countries would retaliate and finish the job. They had the most to gain by doing this.
I know little of Fallout lore, but I'm tempted to go with a joke answer that no one dropped bombs, there was a lot of attempted framing to make different groups look bad, but actually it was just a bunch of nuclear-powered Mr Handys exploding for some reason.
you did see Mr. House lol
Think about it: The Ghoul meets/vs Joshua fucking Graham. That would be a combat for the ages!
The camera highlighted a different kind of round that he was loading that I assume he did not use before
Second season was greenlit before we got done with this one lol
8:04 she probably bough her own cryo-pod
OR, he was playing around with him in Filly, and let him have a chance by fighting without using his weakness.
Or he just missed, as people do, when shooting weird bullets at a very specific location.
Budd Really has a thing for tiny vehicles doesn't he?
Man traded in a budget Smart car for a MiGo brain cylinder.
You also see Vaulties in:
The 100 (tv series)
Logan's Run (tv series)
Cyborg (the movie)
Paranoia (TTRPG)
YESSSS MY FAVORITE or fallout 2 lol I lost my ish when I saw the strip!!!
Can we figure out where Shady Sands is in CA based on the crater referenced to the Observatory sky shot?
Cooper's wife isn't evil ... She's gray for sure. She got to be alone while her husband was at war with faulty equipment fearing a nuclear war at all times. She basically worked herself into a position where she could protect her family. In her eyes there is no way out of the horror, and if her company is willing to drop bombs they probably are not the only ones... Her position would have been filled by somebody else but with her in that position she can actually keep her family safe...
Empathy dude
I mean they didn''t have him shoot Max in the armor because that would kill max. Very well can't continue he's story if he's dead. Sure, it leaves a loophole issue, but its about the story more then anything else. I also think he used regular ammo as the bullets looked different in this episode.
Even better question, how is so much getting power in the city. Are the poles still up? Lines also?
The NCR rebuilds infrastructures. Its part of what they do as a government. Their entire presence in Vegas they were rebuilding the Helios One and Hoover Dam power plants
The idea that Vault-Tec may have dropped the first bomb themselves has been hinted at since at least fallout 3 (the bomb in Megaton has a Vault-Tec logo on it.) It's still unconfirmed, even by this show.
It's not Vault-Tek logo. 2 strips, not 3, different core.
I think the Brotherhood will break up like the Elder said and he and Knight Maximus will make New California Republic their new base. There are no new scientific inventions since before the war, and two from the game are still hidden. FEV and mutants are shown in one arm, but the other is Cloning. I suspect that Dane is a clone of Moldaver which may be how Moldaver survived this long. She was always at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in the meetings. She is very clever, which means she won’t be like a Gary. Note that Dane has her head shaved, and she sabotaged her foot to not go away from the Brotherhood. So she may be a spy at the least.
This was Amazon's First #1 Spot Streaming Show. So Yea, extremely popular.... I even got my "Nintendo Only" Gaming wife to watch it, and she fell in love with the show.
Big man here should react to Mauler's vid on this show. It's spot on.
I feel like Moldaver kept Rose alive so that even in her ghoul state, she could witness the lights coming on. That's why they are in that room with the killer view. That's why Moldaver didn't turn the lights on immediately, when the sun was still up. All that, for decades, only so Rose could miss it, after being shot in the head by her daughter. FU Fallout. Why do you do these things to us?
Perhaps you start live streaming a replay of your most liked Fallout game?
people hate hank but he did have a point about the dangers on the surface
Imagine being that family court judge, deciding between one parent that wants to raise the kid in a nuclear wasteland, and the other wants to raise them inside a breeding experiment ran by an evil corporation.
Cryo facility is in the game so it is not a cop out.
"Truth is... The game was rigged from the start." - Benny Gecko, Fallout New Vegas
I'm curious how they will go about NV. Like is Mr House alive still? What is the canon ending of FNV? Also, the city in the end looked dead. So does that mean its abandoned now? So many questions.
Would Hank have bombed Shady Sands if he had known that it was started by ex-vault dwellers? "Honey I'm going to nuke America"..."I want a divorce".lol This show should get all the awards.
Bluetooth range is shit, even in the future, I guess.
Maximus' armor weakness wasn't taken advantage of by the ghoul in Philly because either A) Lazy writing, B) late changes to the script, or B) Maximus' armor was a new special kind that he added in the middle of the season..... specifically, Plot Armor!!!
Or the ghoul was just messing with maximus
knight Titus armor has tempered armor, Max even mentioned it in Ep 2 i think
@atomic_hok.... FWIW, As others have said, the ghoul's gun jammed in Philly. That said, my comment was really about the "Plot armor" joke, but he could have certainly been messing with Maximus.
@malvoliomaximillian2001.... I knew about the tempered armor, but as others have also said the ghoul knew about the armor's weakness along the weld. The weld isn't the actual armor itself, so it wouldn't be nearly as tough anyway. In the end, my comment was meant more to convey the "Plot armor" joke, but I guess that doesn't come across in a comments section as there's no tonal inflection. Unfortunately there's no way to note sarcasm in the comments, other than to say something is sarcasm, and that just ruins it. Lol
I wish they didn't blow their load so soon by already going straight to New Vegas.
There was more of California to explore.
Eww. Who wants to see Cali.
Pause the video when you talk over it damn! Straight up disrespecting the writers by talking over their dialogue
I am shocked you like this show, so many inconsistencies, and illogical plot issues. I liked the visuals and the props, however the story was lacking.
Like what
95% of the time when I see someone say this, it later becomes apparent it's because they missed something.
Are you sure you watched it. It's praised for its constiatnecy lore wise, not having plot issues...etc. Getting all kinds of props for story.
@@ThatShyGuyMatt I watched every moment of the show and was disappointed. I can reference a long list of issues from the start if you like.
@@Scyth0r I am a person with a keen since for details. I can list so many things wrong with the show if you like episode by episode.

The _ONLY_ reactor that got the moral of Fallout, the series.
How many comments have I had deleted under ep8 reactions, because _I_ said it. 🥲
20:50 My theory is that he didn't have a critical hit saved up before.
He clearly uses VATS, so it makes sense. Even with Critical Banker, he is one shotting a whole town, so he could have ran out.
