@@mickandtrudie Actually Mick, after you shown this Hasankeyif, i looked it up. these people moved to a nice location as you see, and all shop owners given new shops, and homes,, this part of Turkey have very rich soil but they lack water, and Turkey imports $45 billion in energy, it is their biggest expense per year, and population is increasing water becomes scares in that part of the country, even around the World. they had to compromise, Entire Turkey is like a Museum, if they stop projects for historical sites, than the country wouldn't be able build anything, Turks do pretty good job preserving and presenting heritage as l know how many ancient sites they excavated and restored, , most of Ottoman empire ancient ruins even mosques been teared down in the areas such as Greece ( You know when we were in Greece most of the Greek people all they did was to spew their hate for TURKS , calling the Mongols, they should go back to Mongolia, they are dirty, they are muslims, like been a muslim is a bad thing, we were really disgusted with their attitude ,and funny thig is that their entire culture based on Turkish people, they even eat the same dishes, they even say Yogurt is their, baklava ,lokhum, Turkish coffee, even Mussakak, humus, dolma, i forgot but almost all Turkish things.but they say they are theirs, hahaha, And when we were in Turkey all Turks say they are their neighbors, we eat the same food we dance like, we look like each other and we let old by gone be by gones, we like Greek people. that is the difference, between them, and other places while Turks spends their own tax money to preserve them because Turkish people are wonderful compassionate, caring hospitable people , and hate no one accept the ones want if they try to take over their county, than they be your worst night-mere, I am a history buff, I read Ottoman Empire also even during the Ataturk and after, even in Korea, long ago Korean veterans were saying how brave the Turks were and how happy that Turks are in their side. so yeah, yes Turks are not perfect but they are something special, do you know their national Anthem ends with these words ' "Hakkidir Hakka Tapan ,milletimin Istiklal" you know what it means right? Means"" We have given the rights to keep the country and liberty, just beacuse we only worship and fight justice and liberty " I thought that was so impressive and important why they are like the way they are. One Australian General said after the war in Gallipoli " Turkey is for the Turks and Turks only, we say Good bye to this war" says it all.

Are ther buses or minibuses which ply intercity in southeastern turkey for example between Mardin and Midyat or Mardin and Adiyaman? How do we actually find information on this or perhaps even buy a ticket online?

I traveled to Mardin and other cities in southeast Turkey with a well-known Turkish journalist who is known for defending the rights of the Kurdish minority in the area. She was recognized and welcomed by many of the local residents who are of Kurdish and Arabic descent. It took quite a long time to find our hotel because my friend had trouble understanding the local people's Turkish. We went in the beginning of July (very hot time of year) and there were very few tourists - foreign or domestic. The local Christian community are Syrian Christians. There are two Syrian Christian churches that we were able to visit after finding a resident who had keys to unlock these ancient and fascinating buildings.

We understand, the UK foreign travel always says the same thing as well - one of the reasons we made the films in south east Turkey was to prove how safe we felt in that area. I’m so glad we went, it’s an area we plan to return and never felt anything other than safe. It’s an amazing part of Turkey to explore.
As far as covid is concerned you would be given emergency treatment if you required it free of charge.
Unfortunately most insurance company’s won’t cover you if the government say you shouldn’t go to this area, but I’m sure someone will cover you. How long were you thinking to be in that area? 🙋‍♀️

I will stay about 5-6 days in mardin and explore the city, midyat and dara. And maybe one day each in antakya, gaziantep and diyarbakir, i got insurance from safetywing for 83$ for my 5 week trip and it cover both covid and that area 👍😁
