I have never seen an artist more engaged in an interview as Brent was here. Normally at some point you can see or hear a sense of “how much longer” or “here we go again”……not once here. I watched the whole interview and it was great to see two people with respect and admiration for each other talk about things that drive them.
Brent's just an all around decent human. He loves people and he's interested in what they have to say. The lyrics he writes are always to the individual and not the group. Not many busy, successful, famous musicians who can stay relatable to the people after 20 years. Major accomplishment there!
Hey man, I met him twice here in Sweden. This guy is so genuine u cant Believe it. And the way be cares about mental illnes and they way he cares about People, its amazing. First time I met him, he cancelled his flight because be wanted to answer questions to us (his fans). This guy is a beautiful human being!
My husband and I have been clean for 14 years! I think that's why Brent/Shinedown is my husband's favorite singer! He relates! My husband also drank to get wasted and fall down. He also suffers with mental health and is constantly in his head! We went to Shinedown Concert this month and the whole crowd was jumping and singing while my husband just watched and took it all in! He is the complete opposite of me! My husband is the most selfless person I've ever met!!!! He never asks for anything! I bought Shinedown tickets for his bday and he was mad almost because I spent money on him! Our daughter also saved my life! I'm lucky to be alive. She filled a hole in my heart that was missing my whole life! I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for my daughter! Chris Cornell is my husband's favorite singer and then Brent! My husband's thought process is identical to Brent's! My husband is always in his head also! We are both super open minded and can listen to differences without negativity! I can clearly see why my husband lobes shinedown so much! As do I, I just don't think about things like my husband does either! I just go with the flow and my husband is a observer and listener. He doesn't argue or correct people ever. He's the most observant person I've met!
I let out an embarrassing little yelp when I saw that you'd be interviewing Brent Smith. I couldn't wait to get home to watch the interview when I saw that it dropped. What a class act is Mr. Brent Smith. He's a wonderful and engaging interview. The willingness to be vulnerable absolutely floored me. I learned so much! I'm grinning from ear to ear. One of the very best interviews you've done yet, Elizabeth. Well done!
I'm originally from Winter Springs, and Brent gave a relief concert after 4 hurricanes hit in a row. Shinedown was one of my favorite bands and that free concert always stuck with me.
Been a Shinedown fan since the beginning and if I had to pick a song to ecompass what the band is to me, it'd actually be two songs, Fly From the Inside and Burning Bright from their first album. Absolutely incredible songs that showcase their mix of aggression and soaring, emotional vocals. Can't wait to hear this entire interview, Brent is the man.
Seen them twice and Chevelle. They are favorite modern bands. I could see them everyday. My wife won a signed guitar from Shinedown and look forward to see them again.
I have a story about the song simple man. my dad was a huge skynyrd fan and when I let him hear shinedowns cover he was so excited he went to buy the cd and bought the original version twice before he finally found the one with simple man on it. he passed away in 2005 and I made sure to play it at his memorial as a send off.
Brent is always engaged in his interviews, but the level of investment in this one was fantastic. Usually questions revolve around inspirations, influences, projects, the band members, their relationships, and every other personal detail. He seems really energized and excited to be talking about the technical details of actually how he sings. It's like asking a physicist what motion is when they're usually asked to just recite Newton's laws.
Ive seen Shinedown 5 times now, my wife never got the chance to until the Planet Zero tour came through town. After the show, she said "man, now I see what you were talking about...thats one of the best shows Ive seen!"
Brent and his band members are such incredible, humble and generous human beings. I had the pleasure to meet them on several occasions and these guys are so down to earth! Not to mention that Brent was a huge part of my weight loss journey. He supported me so much, not only with being a role model for me in this case, but his encouragement was incredible. These guys will always have my heart! No matter what 💜
Really liked the part where Brent was very open about his addiction and where he stated that Shinedown didn't save people lives but that they themselves did it. They just helped. I totally understand what he was saying. Early in my recovery I would listen to every album I had on my phone especially the song " Save me " . Their music help me in some very rough times.
I remember I was locked up in 2008 and Shinedown was on the radio station talking to people taking in colors to talk to shinedown and I only got one hour of radio time a day. And just by circumstance my mom had called into the radio station and got to talk to Shinedown about me in my situation and the song second chance I heard on the radio it changed my life while I was in jail, so my mom mentioned that to Brent of Shinedown and he did a shout out for me and I heard it over the radio live, which is a one in a million chances that I heard that on the one hour radio time I had and I'll never forget that moment.
Brent...There are many people who feel the same about Chris as you do.... However there are many people who feel that same feeling about you. Your voice has touched many souls....
I think what works with Brent is that what you get is genuine. Vocally, in interviews, lyrically, at meet and greets...it's a music lover who busted his ass to be able to work in the industry and damnit, he deserves every single ounce of it. Not a nicer guy in modern rock. Up there in my top 10 rock vocalists of all time for tone, timbre, and range, too. Just unreal talent.
He's just so honest and open about everything. Makes u like him even more really not that it was really possible as his talent alone is off the charts amazing!!!
Dude I was heavy in addiction for a long time and got clean. I saw shinedown for the first time while clean and Brent actually handed me a pick and shook my hand. It amazes me that 2 addicts getting clean shook each other's hand without knowing it. But honestly his lyrics helped me, even during addiction they helped me realize I was at rock bottom. I was actually getting high on something other than weed while listening to the radio when my younger sister called and actually called me out on my being high. As I listened to the song after cussing her out, later that night I was looking in the mirror while the same song was playing and the next day I decided to quit everything and get clean. I spent the next 3 weeks puking my guts up getting clean and it was shinedown that helped me and ultimately starting my road to recovery. It's awesome to find out we were getting clean together.
Elizabeth, would you ever consider doing a series of "Lets React" where you bring the singer/artist/band in to sit with you during your initial reaction? I think it would be fun to get to see a band "show" you their song, and then to analyse it together, in the moment.
I liked them before I saw them in concert...I LOVED them when I saw them for the first time. I was hooked. Anyone who can sound THAT good in person always gets added to my lifelong music love category for me. Like Brent is talking about his Jazz music love? Right up there for me.
Brent Smith is one of my favorite musicians. Shinedown was one of my growing up bands, still listen and love them. Was struggling this past year and randomly heard some Smtih and Meyers and it made the pain lessen. Just a beautiful voice, person and light to my darkness. Love you both.
I took my two eldest daughters to see Shinedown. We had several rough years and things were finally turning around. We all liked Shinedown so I bought tickets. It was their first concert. Shinedown blew us away! It was a really great night and one we really needed!
He brought me back, from my darkest time. I could never show enough appreciation. Unity is my Battle song. Thank you Brent and the rest of Shinedown. See you again in Sept.2022. Maryland Hights St.Louis Mo.
My grandpa really likes Shinedown. He's in his seventies, and really picky about music. He normally refines his music taste to AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Nazareth, etc. But I heard the Simple Man cover and immediately had to show him. He loved it so much. He keeps asking for me to play "Raindown" lol
Glad to hear it is accepted by the older generations as well, simple man is an iconic song, and as much as I love the original and Skynyrd, Shinedown's version just sounds better to me, and has more emotion in it .
The one thing the band loves the most is that their music spans generations. There was an interview where Brent was talking about the video for The Human Radio. The video is 100% all fans in it. They did a call out for fans to be in a video and thousands jumped on it. Some flying from far to get involved. The video shows the diversity of people who love them.
Nice! I've got my mom hooked on them, too. She's in her 60's. I'm finally taking her with me to a concert this September! My son likes them, and his best friend's boyfriend loves them, too, and my husband (after being inundated with their music so much from me) was FINALLY becoming a fan of them after years of listening to them 😂...and a couple of concerts with me.
So damn cool! I have personally met and chatted WITH Brent after a Billings, MT. early tour, Salt Lake City bar/scene in middle of SLC a few months later, then almost a decade later in Youngstown after. I have this GENUINE gentleman’s signature on a band shirt fully signed in Billings by their tour bus. I have no qualms stating this is the most human heroes we have in music.
Brents vocals +Jason + berry= truly amazing and yes they did save me and i got to tell them after seeing them in LA and was taken behind the table and talked to me ill never forget that for actually wanting to know and that is hard to come by in a person much less a band thank you you guys thank you ....
First of all, I want to say congratulations to you and your husband. I think you'll be a great mother. I would also like to say congratulations to Brent on his recovery. I actually discovered Shinedown about 10 years ago after beginning my journey of recovery. I recently saw them in Birmingham and was blown away by their performance.
@@jasondayton1581 THANK YOU. That one gets overlooked because of all the rock-ballods that came after. "Diamond Eyes" and "Unity" are pretty good. What you thinkin'
Ooh, Enemies is one of my FAVORITES! I used to have to drive a lot for work and, hehe, I may or may not have blew out a set of speakers in my car...🙈🙉 I was hell on speakers when I was still working on site for the hospital.
That was absolutely the best interview I have seen ever, with an artist. It felt so real, like I was just lucky to be sitting in a room listening to two people who have such a love for music. Definitely looking forward to many more to come. Thank you for that. It was a real conversation, no fluff.
Also good podcast. Didn’t want to miss this. (Perhaps you could work on the audioquality from the other end. It sounds like a phone, lots of midtones.) still 5 out of five stars ⭐️
Met all of the Shinedown guys and I can honestly say they are the most engaged, talented and humble people in the industry. They love and put their fans first and ALWAYS have time for them. Their talent is unrivaled!!! To see them live is an honest privilege because words can't even convey how amazing they are! ❤️
Was never a huge Shinedown fan, but this was a great interview. Now I will definitely have to go back and listen to more of their music. Brent has definitely opened my mind. He looked like he had a great time doing a 2 hr. Interview. Most singers wouldn't have made it 20 minutes. Really impressive. Elizabeth you knocked this one out.
An excellent guy that possesses a great deal of wisdom and intellect. I remember when his first album came out, and I could tell by his vocals then that he was inspired by Chris Cornel...His music does exactly what he intends it to do, it inspires, tells a story, and envelops you into his world...The best music is relatable music...You have to be able to read people quite well, as well as be able to read yourself, and relate that we are all really the same yet individual...As he said, people are inherently good, or at least want to be...we can't judge someone who hasn't learned all the lessons that we have learned, and we must acknowledge that we also haven't learned all the lessons that life has taught them...Experience is the best teacher...I am happy to have learned that Brent has this humble view that everyone should learn...this tells me that he truly has lead a hard life, yet it has taught him so much...wonderful interview, and great to get to know Brent and Shinedown that much more...thank you for your content.
I got introduced to Shinedown with Sound of Madness.. I was like Holy Hell yesssss. I loved his look in the video ☺️☺️☺️ With Shinedown songs each one of them everyone can relate to in what Brent is singing about when your going through same thing and when you can't speak about it. Brent did for you. He is a wonderful singer and amazing man❤❤
I could totally see you geeking out when Brent was talking about nuances in the vocals and pronunciations. I loved every minute of this. Thank you so much for doing this interview! I've been a huge Shinedown fan since their beginning. Brent has been seen to give some time to interviews but I've never seen him open up this much for that long!
Nothing short of amazing! When I first looked at the 2-hour length of this video I thought no way am I ever going to watch all of this... Boy was I wrong, Brent Smith was very engaging and far more centered and grounded than I had imagined as I had never heard an interview with him before. Appreciate all your vocal breakdowns... They definitely give me a new appreciation and respect for vocalist.
Wow, such a great conversation. New found appreciation for Brent hearing his story. I'm an hour and a half in and there's still something that stuck with me from minute twelve, "if you're gonna play it, play it with attitude!"
The interview was fantastic. You can really tell the type of man Brent is! Down to earth and humble. My wife and I just saw our first Shinedown concert in Atlantic City on 08/10/24 and it was electric! THE best concert I've ever seen. My wife, who enjoys Shinedowns music (mainly because I subject her to it in the car) said that the concert was AMAZING! I don't disagree. You guys really put on a first class show and make the audience feel like family, and that you are grateful for them. Keep doing what you are doing guys!
I really enjoyed Brent taking time out of his day to do this. I don't normally see bands live, but Shinedown seems like something special to see live! ♥️
I am an even bigger fan of Brent Smith, and Shinedown now- if that's even possible- what a real, honest, and just himself, down-to-earth good human. Awesome awesome, love real down-to-earth honest talk. Great interview
Brent Smith has one of my favorite voices in rock and roll. I've seen Shinedown three times in concert and I want to see them more. His song with Apocalyptica is amazing as well.
That has to be one of the best interviews I have ever watched. So open, honest, humbling. Explaining the music and where it comes from. His past. The band and how close knit they are. How their songs come about and where their songs come from. The way they have evolved. I was so in to this interview that I watched it all the way through. The only other music artist who's interviews I have been so captivated by was Meatloaf. I love Shinedowns music and have been a huge fan from their beginning. The songs that resonate with me the most are Get Up and The Sound of Madness because I can relate to the words of these songs in so many ways. Having been medically diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety I have been in those deep dark places and the song Get Up is so uplifting knowing it was written with those things in mind giving hope to those that suffer with depression and anxiety. Total Shinedown fan!
His voice is one amazing gift, and we are all lucky he shares his music with us all. Love shinedown. He is so right on the current climate. People are not against eachother.
Elizabeth, this was such an incredible interview. I could’ve listened to the two of you chatting for an additional two hours. I love that you do research beforehand and don’t just ask the same boring questions everyone else does. Not sure if you’re currently taking requests for these or not, but I’d love to see a Tea Time interview with Corey Taylor and/or Spencer Charnas(Ice Nine Kills) in the future. With Spencer, I could see the two of you geeking out over theater for hours.
@@TheCharismaticVoice "Corey Taylor will happen"? Wow, that's amazing! Really looking forward to it. I was so happy that you analysed Duality and was just thinking how great it would be if you would manage to invite him for one of these.
On one side it's a dangerously honest man hold his heart on the palm pointing at you right there... on the other there's an incarnation of compassion itself ! No wonder I couldn't stop this interview 🏁🏁🏁
Always been a "moderate" or "passive" fan of Shinedown, but never really studied that much into them. After this, I'm still a moderate fan of Shinedown, but I'm a HUGE fan of Brent....I'm not one to sit and listen to a couple ppl talk for 2 hours very often, but I was honestly riveted to this. Kudos to Elizabeth for bein a gracious host and just letting him speak as much and as often as he did. Outstanding interview.
I was so excited to see you had an interview with Brent. I am a huge fan of Brent and that incredible voice of his. Shinedown is one of my absolute favorite bands and have been for many years. Brent is such a down to earth guy and is always very engaging with the interviewers and this one was one of my favourites that i have seen Him do. You can't help but love this man even more than you already did! I am so beyond grateful that he got himself cleaned up and is still with us. He needs to be protected at all cost. When he was talking about Chris Cornell I lost it when he became emotional. I was totally devastated when I heard of his passing and my heart broke for Brent and all Chris's friends and family, But I am so glad the guys chose to let Barry tell Brent about Chris's passing instead of him finding out on the news or social media posts. That could not have been easy for Barry and the guys to break it to him but so glad they were all together when the news broke to support Brent and each other . Chris is and will continue to be greatly missed. He was an incredible artist and and loved all his work and incredible vocals as the frontman of his bands Audioslave and Soundgarden. He is gone but not forgotten and will always be in our hearts.
My favorite concert ever is Shinedown. Brent smith has the most amazing voice and sound. Its amazing that you can sound like the radio in person. Big props to you all. I also love the Smith and Meyers acoustic albums they do. Great covers!
@The Charismatic Voice and @Kirk McCune, thank you so much for this day. A Shinedown day, I hope you have a blessed weekend! Once again, thank you so much! ❤️
I've NEVER been roped into an interview and couldn't stop watching and listening. Elizabeth's admiration for music and singing is toxic and a pleasure to watch!!! Brent has been my Fav since 2002.
Wow. Elizabeth, Brent, this was a fantastic conversation to witness! Thank you so much for sharing it. I was a fan of you both before watching. I’m a much bigger fan now. Thank you for taking the time and sharing so much of yourselves with us!
As a trumpet player I’m still amazed how things brought up in these interviews make me think about my playing/performing. These ideas are so universal! All musicians can get something from this!!
Shinedown is one of those bands that I saw as a warm up for something else that I was going for. They absolutely blew the roof of the joint and especially Brent made a lasting impression on me with his vocals. Diamond Eyes for me is their best song and his vocals are captivating in it!
I love Brent Smith's talent on stage and sinnging, but after this interview i absolutely love even more with his way of talking, his huge knowledge about music and how motivational feels sometimes.
Ah, Brent lol My wife has your autograph tatted on her foot, the shine down logo on her other foot, and a picture of you with her on the shelf. She has seen you guys like 25 times, from the beginning where there were only a couple hundred people. I think you’re the only guy she would leave me for lol Stay safe man, keep rocking!
Shinedown is a strong evolution among popular rock bands. I don't know whether they will hold up in 50 years as have some of their classic progenitors, but Brent Smith is a good sign they will. He gave you a FANTASTIC interview, and I'm not even a huge fan, but this is perhaps your best tea time to date; truly excellent and on point.
I have a good friend in common with the guest, and I have to say that my respect for Mr. Smith has only grown with every thing I hear. Seems genuine and authentic. My friend suggested Planet Zero and it kept me going through the hardest year of my life. I owe Mr. Smith and our mutual friend so much gratitude.
Cool interview. I've been a Shinedown fan for about 15 years. My 7 year old daughter became a Brent Smith super fan 2 years ago. She's seen Shinedown and Smith & Myers live 4 times in the past 2 years.
That was just an amazing interview. Brent is so inspiring. Dude has one of the most powerful voices I've heard live. He talks louder than some people can sing.
Great interview, Elizabeth! I've seen Shinedown about a dozen times in different states and countries. They never disappoint. Many bands say they have a lead singer, but I've heard the members of Shinedown say they have "a Brent." Amazing singer and so dynamic.
I just wanna say I love this interview, but that also I remember when Shinedown did the live on WAAF. I was in the 3rd grade with a pocket radio, I was just getting into music. And I heard this band cover simple man. And it was as if time stopped. AAF played that song for a long time after an I had it recorded on an old tape recorder. Unfortunately you can't find that live studio version on TH-cam anymore, but I can honestly say, hearing that performance as a 9 year old changed my life forever. It was a once in a lifetime moment
Been a shinedown fan for a long time. I remember seeing one of their early shows, and I was drunk, and he said the next song was controversial and they won't play it on the radio, and I started yelling PLAY 45, PLAY 45. I was right up against the stage and he stopped, looked at me and said Dude! We're about to. Always thought that was funny
Big Shinedown fan! Love the interview. You were fantastic, and really let Brent speak, and pour out his emotional journey. Kids are life changing! Good for you Brent!
I’m really excited to hear this interview. I wrote a poem titled Shinedown under the stars for him. It’s in my safe and maybe one day I can get it to him. I’ve gone thru a bunch of shinedown cds. You feel like you are in the same room with each song. I can’t tell you my favorite song, changes with my moods. I’m glad you got to talk with him.
Omg I soo get you about the favorite song! I've had so many people ask that and I've gotten a complete deer in a headlights look because my brain just goes into ((here's every song from Shinedown all at once)) or ((Error 404 - file not found)) 🤣 and I know that whomever I'm talking to instantly thinks "This chick is NOT a Shinedown fan..." (This interview is EXCELLENT, by the way! When you do get to meet Brent, this is as lovely and personable as he is when you meet him. 🥰 And he gives the BEST hugs!!)
@@moogarner374 If you can try to go to their tour bus if you can't do M&G. I did back in TTS tour I hung out with Barry and then Brent came out he wasn't feeling well but he still took pic with me. I respected Barry and Brent so much I got the tattoo on my arm. Then Shinedown and Brent posted it on Twitter. Also great hugger Brent is. I had the pleasure of meeting them multiple times before the tour bus.
So happy you got to virtually meet Brent and do this interview.....he is truly one of my favorite performers and people in the entire world. My son and I have been to 5 Shinedown concerts and will continue to go to literally every one that comes my way.... I was addicted from the first show.... at my age, so much of music's value for me is generated by the message it contains. Shinedown's lyrics are relevant, and usually postive. Watching them in concert, you can absolutely tell that Brent and the band care 100% towards their fan and their crowd. He likes to stop the concert and tell those in attendence to introduce themselves to their neighbors at the concert. Then to consider that even though that person may have different views on life and everything related, while they are at the concert, they are there as brothers and sisters to enjoy the music...and to take care of each other. Then, holy heck, his vocals are all 100% front and foremost. SPECTACULAR! Welcome to the Shinedown family! I'm a lifer.
I saw Shinedown in the mid 2000s (long hair days) and again in 2018...great shows...powerful vocals. His stuff as "Smith and Myers" is absolutely phenomenal.
I love Shinedown. Every time I’m noodling around on my guitar and a clean tone, somehow I end up playing .45 at some point. His vocals are amazing, just the perfect rock voice. It was great to see his enthusiasm and passion for music really shine through in the interview. After watching this I’m an even bigger fan.
I'm just now watching this after seeing your breakdown of "Simple Man" and wow, where do I begin?! I'm from Jacksonville, Florida, I live 2 minutes from Ronnie Van Zant's childhood home and went to the same high school as Ronnie and Gary Rossington. I also went to middle school & high school with a buddy who was a drummer in a local band, which.. long story short, were good friends with the guys in Shinedown being they're also from here. I was AT that show at Freebird Live when Shinedown played that cover of "Simple Man." That buddy of mine's band opened up for them and we all hung out the entire night. Brent is 100% genuinely EXACTLY like this, there's nothing artificial about him at all. Brent, Jason, Brad and Barry, the original lineup, were a blended group of musicians who were in other bands, but came together and created something really magical. I never imagined I'd ever see Brent talk about those early days in an interview, but I'm beyond floored to be watching this and just wanted to come by and share a little from what I experienced. Also, if you've read this long, PLEASE look up Shinedown Simple Man Welcome to Rockville for a nice surprise ☺
My first exposure to Shinedown was from playing a PS2 game called MX vs ATV Unleased back in 2005...the song was Fly From The Inside, and I've been a fan ever since. This was a fantastic interview as always Elizabeth, you have this beautiful ability to make your guests feel comfortable conversing with you and it shows.
At some point, you've got to do the "Shed Some Light" trifecta. The original Shinedown version, the Shinedown cover featuring Lizzy Hale, and the Lizzy Hale cover featuring Brent. They're all SO GOOD.
Iv always like him from what I've read about him personally. Iv always liked shinedowns music But seeing this interview was great. Actually, seeing a person of his caliber being engaged and interested in doing an interview was great. Also, how open he was and not afraid to openly show emotion. I have a lot of respect for him, and I guess the rest of the band is much like him.
Thank you so much for interviewing. Brent Smith…he has become my favorite song//songwriter over the past several years as well as Shinedown becoming my Favorite band ..been waiting for Awhile for you to review more of his songs..first post on You-tube and just had say thank you..and thank you to Brent Smith. ..sorry I missed you in LR ..
Brent is one of the greatest vocalist on the rock scene ever, neve stops amaze me when listening to a live version and it sounds close to better than the studio verision. THE best!
I have never seen an artist more engaged in an interview as Brent was here. Normally at some point you can see or hear a sense of “how much longer” or “here we go again”……not once here. I watched the whole interview and it was great to see two people with respect and admiration for each other talk about things that drive them.
Nine of the interviews she's done feel that way. The artists are very engaged with her and it truly feels like a conversation.

Each time I've met Brent, he gives everyone this same level of focus and genuine interest. Something I've never seen before and totally refreshing

This man is incredible I love the fact he is so humble and values the fans like he does it's so amazing.
I LOVE HER REACTION. IT'S AUTHENTIC. She was so sweet. He can truly see that she is genuine not Hollywood. He absolutely enjoyed this conversation

For me The Crow & the Butterfly 🦋 & Through the Ghost.
Got to go watch the live concert
Seen them twice and Chevelle. They are favorite modern bands. I could see them everyday. My wife won a signed guitar from Shinedown and look forward to see them again.
I first saw him do Simple Man in Iraq in '04. A much needed respite at the time. Thanks Brent.
I have every Shinedown Album, my all time favorite band, his voice is just incredible.
I feel the same way about Save Me. It's gotten me through a lot.
Him talking about Chris is so emotional 😭
Brent is such a humble, down to earth guy. I love him and I loved this interview.
That would be awesome
Count me in for this! That would be super cool
Great idea!
That would be cool to see!!! I’d tune in!!!
What an absolutely fantastic idea!!
I just saw them in concert. Brent has an extremely powerful voice and they are excellent live.
Omg can’t wait for this Brent smith nicest/ most down to earth man in rock
My grandpa really likes Shinedown. He's in his seventies, and really picky about music. He normally refines his music taste to AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Nazareth, etc. But I heard the Simple Man cover and immediately had to show him. He loved it so much. He keeps asking for me to play "Raindown" lol
Glad to hear it is accepted by the older generations as well, simple man is an iconic song, and as much as I love the original and Skynyrd, Shinedown's version just sounds better to me, and has more emotion in it .
Oh really? Also the new Shinedown?
My grandma listens to them sometimes in the car with us, she calls them “moonshine” 😂😂😂
Brents vocals +Jason + berry= truly amazing and yes they did save me and i got to tell them after seeing them in LA and was taken behind the table and talked to me ill never forget that for actually wanting to know and that is hard to come by in a person much less a band
thank you you guys thank you ....
He's right on. The Sound of Madness is the one all of us started on.
Hey Brent, more like that and Enemies. They rock!!
Enemies...good call.
@@tinamarie2121 it will wake ya up better than coffee
I"m so excited for this Tea Time interview! Big fan of Shinedown here!
That was absolutely the best interview I have seen ever, with an artist. It felt so real, like I was just lucky to be sitting in a room listening to two people who have such a love for music. Definitely looking forward to many more to come. Thank you for that. It was a real conversation, no fluff.
By far the best interview with Brent I've ever heard. Love how he opened up about his relationship with his son.
Listen to the first half of this interview early at:
thecharismaticvoice.com/podcast/
Great use of the podcast options..
A BEAUTIFUL interview by two in-tune, passionate people. Your channel and interviews really do show the magic of music.
Corey Taylor will happen sometime, maybe this year. I'm not familiar with Ice Nine Kills, so I'll have to hear some of their music first!
@@TheCharismaticVoice "Corey Taylor will happen"? Wow, that's amazing! Really looking forward to it.
I was so happy that you analysed Duality and was just thinking how great it would be if you would manage to invite him for one of these.
@@TheCharismaticVoice oh my goodness, YESSSS! Can't wait to see that interview, I love Corey!
This interview deseves much more views! Brent is one of the greatest in rock music. Love it, so humble and outgoing.
If I could pick ONE voice to listen to, from a singing perspective, it's Brent Smith. hands down, no questions. Beyond excited to see this interview!
On one side it's a dangerously honest man hold his heart on the palm pointing at you right there... on the other there's an incarnation of compassion itself ! No wonder I couldn't stop this interview 🏁🏁🏁
I love that dude! He's such a cool and down to earth guy. Love their music as well.
Now we need an Outshined cover. Damn, Brent!
Everybody definitely needs to up vote this comment and get an Outshined cover
Uh...that's right.
He did do Black Hole Sun at their 1st Smith and Myers show after his passing it is ion TH-cam.
Hi Tony, I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
@@kirbys1370 hello Kirby S! Thank you 🙏! I hope you too have a blessed weekend!
Ah, Brent lol
My wife has your autograph tatted on her foot, the shine down logo on her other foot, and a picture of you with her on the shelf. She has seen you guys like 25 times, from the beginning where there were only a couple hundred people.
I think you’re the only guy she would leave me for lol
Stay safe man, keep rocking!
th-cam.com/video/7g4L47kEcS0/w-d-xo.html
1. Brent has some of the best pipes on the planet.
2. Your absolute love of music is infectious.
Glad to see you interviewing Brent Smith Elizabeth. Another great Tea Time interview I'm sure.
Thank You Brent, Thank You Shinedown.
Beautiful songs, beautiful people, so much love for him & the gents.
Brent Smith is s hero to so many! Thank you for that bro❤
such a cool guy. really love how much respect he shows elizabeth during this interview
That guy seems so down to earth and obviously a great talent! Would love to meet him someday
Shinedown is so influential! I have not heard one bad song from them
"Save Me" was my first exposure to shinedown and I was _hooled_ .. Brent is one of my heros
Awesome Elizabeth The Sound of Madness is definitely my go to song, and the newer song Monsters is so good.
Brent said he was lucky to be alive...I submit that we are ALL lucky he is alive. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us!
I've had so many people ask that and I've gotten a complete deer in a headlights look because my brain just goes into ((here's every song from Shinedown all at once)) or ((Error 404 - file not found)) 🤣 and I know that whomever I'm talking to instantly thinks "This chick is NOT a Shinedown fan..."
(This interview is EXCELLENT, by the way! When you do get to meet Brent, this is as lovely and personable as he is when you meet him. 🥰 And he gives the BEST hugs!!)
@@tinamarie2121 the only time they will be close enough is September. I really would love to go. He just a good human.
Thank you, Elizabeth and Brent, for this Fun and Fantastic Tea Time Interview!!! 💙
I love his collaboration with Apocalyptica, I'm Not Strong Enough. For Shinedown, it's Bully, hands down.
I love that song so much! Such a great collaboration
They're all SO GOOD.
if you ever get a chance to see his acoustic show Smith & Myers do it. i can't recommend it enough. much more intimate show and absolutely incredible
This was just the best conversation ever. So thankful for all of your hard work. The best 4th of July ever
Iv always like him from what I've read about him personally. Iv always liked shinedowns music
But seeing this interview was great. Actually, seeing a person of his caliber being engaged and interested in doing an interview was great. Also, how open he was and not afraid to openly show emotion. I have a lot of respect for him, and I guess the rest of the band is much like him.
Such a brilliant interview! Very interesting, inspiring, emotional, very worthwhile. Thank you Brent & Elizabeth!
THE best!
