    Remember folks green doesn’t always mean good look at your cross numbers, a car can still have a nasty pull with all green numbers, and also depending on the stiffness of the suspension the numbers can change quite a bit when the driver sits in the car

    • @jackoking4657

      Fact but still the driver test drive after alignment

      @WillSwingem ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @@jackoking4657 yup always go for a test drive to you never know if a head shifted or if the machine just didn’t compensate correctly, or maybe the car is pulling for a different reason than the alignment

    • @zachhall3581
      @zachhall3581 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      That’s because toe cannot cause a pull or drift. Only off center steering wheel. Camber and then caster are what causes pulls or drifts. Also tire pressure. You’re right tho to look at cross numbers. Green does not mean good. You can have a car with over 1 degree difference in camber and it’ll be all green depending on manufacture specs. Which obviously will have a decent pull. Also more common on custom alignments is it’ll be in the red. But if cross numbers match or are within .5 a degree it’ll be straight.

    • @WillSwingem
      @WillSwingem ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@zachhall3581 yup toe cannot cause a pull and also the rear cannot cause a pull front camber and caster cause a pull, front toe can cause wandering and darting whitch can be mistaken as a pull

    • @WillSwingem
      @WillSwingem ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@zachhall3581 also it depends where that .5 is you usually want .5 more caster on the passenger side to account for road crown, a half a degree more on the driver side plus the road crown will cause the car to go right, I believe rear toe can cause a pull on vehicles with more than 2 axels tho

    One time, we had a VERY fat man, who drove a VERY tiny car, he came in for an alignment.
    We aligned his car, and sent him on his way. He returned to the shop saying that his car pulls to the left.
    We determined that his weight was the issue. We had to align the car with him inside, up on the lift.
    It did not pull after that alignment 🤣🤣

    I see everyone mentioning the right things but how about trying to even out the camber also with all the helpful tips .. make sure your tires are inflated correctly and along with suspension components make sure those wheels spin freely . No alignment is going to help you if you got a passenger front tire that’s low by 10lbs of air and a set of sticky brake pads because you have a bad caliper or seized slid pins

  • @AxleRods

    I use 2 1x1 boards about 6 feet long and tie them to the outside of the wheels and then measure the dustance from the front end to end and the back end to end. Numbers gotta come out equal. Then adjust on the steering shaft to straighten out the wheel. I bought an expensive laser level that was perfect for alignments but after using it for awhile i realized its exactly the same as the old trusty 2 pieces of wood and measuring tape.

    Extremely dangerous alignment. A proper alignment requires the car to sit on its own wheels a the ride height AND LOADED with the typical mass it's driven with (for example, the driver himself/herself or an equivalent mass on the driver's seat). Cars typically driven by one person exhibit a slightly greater roll towards the direction of the driver's seat, which in turn affects the suspension geometry.

      @@anttikaipainen6072 I see what you’re talking about. There’s more going on here than what’s shown in the video. Subframe adjustment is possible on certain vehicles but it’s usually used to equalize camber. I wouldn’t think something is bent because the caster appears pretty even side to side. I’d like to see the sai and included angles. I used to do a lot of alignments for a collision center. Got pretty good at spotting bent parts.
      Another possibility that he entered the wrong specs.
      In the end if the vehicle doesn’t pull the caster being out of spec shouldn’t be an issue.

    And if you do it right, you can compensate for a bent frame rail. That you won't find, until you're one year into payments. And even then, it'll be the technician at the dealership, who finds it. And at the dealership they only recommend.... Purchasing a new vehicle. To solve your bed frame rail problem. That nobody disclosed to you. Because they were too anxious to sell you car payments. And not an actual car.
