I can drop a couple spoiler-free pieces of advice, just to ease things a little for you. - Firstly, don't stress out about the seemingly empty spaces by the start of each level. You're just going to bash your head against the wall repeatedly if you keep trying to force a secret out of it. If you replay enough, you'll figure it out. -Going super fast and feeling overwhelmed at not doing things super efficiently is natural, because this game's controls take a while to get used to! Peppino has a very fast and frantic moveset, and you'll grow accustomed to how to use which moves in the way you want them to work over time. Once you get a good grip of how to control the game, going real fast and being cool will come A LOT EASIER. -It's pizza time
man you can say that theres lap 2 its not like thats a spoiling feature. lap two is just replaying the escape with the time you have left from the first time, and you can access it once you've beaten the level once normally. though its only necessary for higher ranks
@@Marxdaft The particular reason I phrase it that way is because BLG in particular *tends* to have an interest in figuring out even the littlest of things on their own. Though at this point it's probably unnecessary because there's a bunch of other people spelling it out more clearly anyway.
I remember reading a comment somewhere that said Peppino has either the energy of 10 baby seals or 10 copies of the Navy Seals copypasta going off all at once, with no in between.
I've said it once, but I'll say it again - Peppino Spaghetti is the most respectful and accurate representation of the Italian-American diaspora, not just in video games, but in ALL forms of media. In your face, Mario Puzo.
You play as Peppino, an anxious Italian out to save his pizza restaurant from the evil Pizza Face. Visually, it's very inspired by 90's cartoons. All the animations are well done. And the music is amazing! Also, the brown haired fellow is named Gustavo.
It’s pizza time! You’re actually on to something with those out of the way rooms near the entrance that seemingly should’ve had a secret, but they only show up once you’ve beaten the level already. If you’re looking for an extra challenge, I recommend replaying a level and checking those rooms out again.
"but they only show up once you’ve beaten the level already" You can also unlock the secret room for every stage at once just by completing the tutorial in under 1 minute & 45 seconds.
TBH I really think they should be there from the start. Immediately show people Lap 2 and immediately let people know that levels can be completed in one combo.
@@colbyboucher6391 I'm actually of the opinion that they shouldn't be immediately obvious for new players. Having them available immediately would imply that these are standard challenges even new players should try to complete rather than an optional challenge once you've mastered the level, and would easily lead to players trying to complete these challenges early and getting frustrated before they even have a good understanding of the controls.
Those taunts you can do act as parries! You can reflect projectiles, stun baddies, and invulnerability though boss attacks. It also feels greasy sweet~
I don’t know if I should be ashamed but I have been WAITING for this series. Pizza Tower has become my current obsession, and it’s great to see you guys play it. It definitely has a…different vibe from the rest of the games on this channel, which is why I can’t wait for next episode!
I’m not gonna sugarcoat it; Your taunt can be used as a parry! If you taunt RIGHT before you get hit, you’ll block the damage you would have otherwise taken. This will reflect most projectiles, too! And if you’re feeling extremely confident, you can even use this against bosses.
It begins. This will be an absurd high-speed journey through some top-notch platforming! Have fun! Casey's "MSPaint fever dream" is such an excellent way to describe the way this game looks. Yes, I like pizza. Pizza good.
2 tips: 1, make sure to play every level because you need most of the toppins (the dudes in cages) to beat the game. (Also it’s just fun) 2, the uppercut jump was an attack and is useful on Pepperman’s bounce attack if you re-fight him.
In case anyone else was losing their mind because they recognised the music in the tutorial level and couldn't figure out why, it's called Funiculì, Funiculà, a classic Neopolitan song which I first encountered in a Veggie Tales Silly Songs With Larry called "My High Silk Hat"
Those "secret rooms" near the beginning of the exit gates contain a portal, however, they only appear once you have beaten the level. Replaying some levels would be good.
In boss fights, it's generally a good idea to start by assuming they get hurt by the Grab Dash, and wait for a moment when the boss starts flashing to attack. There are some exceptions to this rule, but you'll know when they come up.
This is not at ALL what I thought Pizza Tower would be. I thought it was a pizza maker game 😅 Anyways this is highlighting how good Ian is at video games, for me. Platformers are difficult and there are SO MANY controls and combos to use here, all in a fast-paced overwhelmed environment. It’s really impressive how quickly you picked this up!!!
I'm glad you guys are stopping to comment on every absurd thing this game throws at you. I've watched 2 other playthroughs of this game but since they were streamed it seemed like the people playing were rushing through or talking to chat. Definitely looking forward to your reactions to everything
the beauty of this game i think is that the gameplay really puts you into the headspace of what peppino must be feeling all the time (i.e. intense anxiety about everything) also why is mr stick just spamton
your correct on the P being the highest rank! but the way to get it is VERY hard, you have to collect all toppins (the little dudes in cages)you gotta get the tower treasure (the things the pink guy with keys gives you) find all secrets (the eyes that you go in) do a lap 2 (do the escape AGAIN) and keep a combo though out the ENTIRE stage and also I think you have to get a high enough score. hope this helps!
An addendum: Collect all the 5 toppings isn't mandatory for the P/S rank. However, all the 5 toppings grants to you 1000 points on total, so it's a good idea to pick every topping you can.
@@ambleeins_door They still are. All ranks are score based (apart from P Rank, which is dependent on both score and combo). The requirements to achieve S/P are pretty high, so the secrets, treasures and the Lap 2 are mandatory, only because they alone give you thousands of points when collected. All 5 toppings gives you "only" 1000 points, but they're still a good help to maintain the S/P rank, even more in those stages where it's extremely easy to lose points, like "Don't Make a Sound").
I'd say don't worry too much about getting good ranks when you're just starting off (or for the purposes of this series even). If you do want to know what's required to get the best rank, then expand the comment since it involves some very minor gameplay spoilers. The best rank you can get is the P rank and it requires you to do the following: -Get all 5 ingredients (the little dudes in cages) -Get all 3 secrets (the eyeball portals) -Get the treasure (the items you find by getting the janitor to unlock the door for you) -Do a second lap during the escape (after you beat a level for the first time a portal will show up in those empty spaces near the start of the levels that takes you back to where Pillar John is during the escape) -Keep one combo going for the whole level without dropping it (your combo increases everytime you kill an enemy before your combo meter runs out. Collecting the random little pickups will refill your combo meter so that you can go longer without killing another enemy.)
23:42 The best rank is P, and here’s how you get it! First you need to keep a continuous combo from start to finish, find all the secret eye rooms, find the purple guy and the secret food in the janitor door, then do a second lap (those empty rooms on second playthoughs of the level have a pizza portal where it lets you do a second lap) a second lap teleports you back to the end where you have to do the escape again (you don’t gain back lost time). And that’s how you get a p rank 😀
I was hoping you guys would play this game eventually! It's a really crazy game, and can be difficult to keep up with at times, but once you familiarize yourself with Peppino's surprisingly diverse moveset, it can be a BLAST to plow through levels! Don't sweat not doing well at certain levels and bosses, though; I was a hot mess when I first played the game and I still managed to have a good time. It's just so satisfying beating up and ramming down enemies, so much so that I enjoy replaying levels and going for a better rank because it's so gosh-darn fun to play! Hopefully you'll also have a good time with it!
