I'm an 84 year old UK resident and failed miserably at History at School (like 7%) I was just not interested in Henry VIIIth and his wives etc etc. Now what you're showing us here is just amazing to me and what History should have been like back in my day. I'm fascinated with all your adventures and how I wish I could have done something like you are showing us.
You're right. Real History, especially in the desert southwest is mind-blowing. I lived in New Mexico and Arizona, the old cliff dwellings there are incredible. They raise more questions than answers. Bit for me, it was always the eerie yet amazed feeling I would get in these places, walking the same ground as the ancients.
@@johnganshow5536 I grew up in WV in a small town where Native Americans had built 60+ mounds along the Kanawha River (where they buried their dead. It was a very holy area). The Smithsonian “excavated” (tore up and took) most of the contents. There are stories about researchers trying to gain access to the contents at the Smithsonian and being told that they didn’t have anything like that. Gone.
The drone is such a useful tool for these sorts of explorations. You can check out and document the sites without risking life and limb or disturbing them. Thanks for sharing these ruins with us!
The reverence, respect and sheer joy on your face as you find a new ruin is just one of myriad reasons I come back time and again. Thank you fir showing us all treasures and places we may likely never get to encounter. You respect of the lands and ruins when so many others seek to destroy and remove is awe inspiring. Keep up the good work. ❤
What you are investing in your time gas, wear and tear on your feet, is priceless for those of us who really appreciate the past culture and history. Thank you for what you are doing.
@@TheTrekPlannerBig thank you from someone who was very active and now has rheumatoid arthritis and for the rest of my life will be in bed with lots of pain. Keep living life and enjoying. life throws curveballs at times. 💘
Drones in the hands of a true Trekker who can spot these possibilities from afar, then bringing them to us up close so brilliantly, in the comfort of our homes, is EPIC!! Mad respect, TP‼️❣️✨❣️✨❣️🥾❣️🥾❣️🥾❣️✨✨✨✨😃😃 Drones are such a cool tool for investigators of these sacred ancient lands!! Beautifully produced too😉
It is really amazing how widely inhabited the Southwest was. We find pottery sherds on every single trail and nearby, and recently found 10 different home ruins including a grinding rock, where most people would not suspect anything existed. Once you start seeing them, you cannot unsee!
I cannot imagine living so close to the edge like that. What came to mind is mothers teaching their kids how to walk in that area. That ruin in the alcove…WOW. Your drone shots are so amazing.
You appear to be tired... It's around your eyes... When you're tired and doing what you do so much in the wilderness and desert, be extra careful ❤!!! I'm sure you have a very happy and proud family....I can understand that 🙏!!!
I imagine the former dwellers aimed to conceal their presence; wanted protection and defense, from the elements and from enemies, wanted to detect in-coming from a long way off, had impressive survival skills, and probably had to stay on the move from year to year. Very nice video. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I love Saturday mornings going on virtual hikes with you. I have written this before but want to write again that I am so grateful you role model and teach people how important it is to respect sacred sites.
What an amazing group of finds! I was reminded over again about how small these people had to have been to live or even just sleep in these ruins. Thank you for sharing it all with us
Imagine how many people may have actually fallen from these cliffs and been injured or even killed by the fall. You know it had to have happened. How sad that would have been for the community. Life was very hard back then.
While it almost certainly happened from time to time, to be fair, it was probably pretty rare, or they wouldn't have continued to build in these areas. Consider, also, they were significantly smaller, leaner, and generally more agile than the average person today.
I can only imagine how dangerous it must have been for the people on the ground that they risked themselves and their kin to live up there. I wonder if the geography was different- the rivers higher and beaches coming up closer to the dwellings. I wonder if the cryptobiotic soil is indication of having been underwater once upon a time.
I always think of that too. I know people were smaller then, but it was still just as steep and dangerous, especially for children. Makes you wonder doesn’t it.
Thank you for your wonderful videos. I’ll likely never visit any of these sites but your videos are not only helping me realize that humanity has been on this continent so so long, but also the beauty we have here. I also appreciate that you took a moment to enjoy the wildflowers. I drive my family crazy stopping to take pictures of wild flowers. But to me it’s about seeing the beauty around us in the ordinary plants that grow without human meddling.
Those ridge caves look exactly like the background for Willie Nelson's new record, "I Work On The Border". Beautiful to say the least. Thanx for the great drone shots!♥
What amazes me is how the heck did they get such large stones lifted that high up. Can you imagine several guys wrapping a rope around the stone and lifting it up that high? Drones are so nice to have, we can see things we would never have been able to explore. That is a big sight and the whole are was quite active at one time.
I love hearing the sounds out there, the birds screeching & the wind. It may be the one constant that these people & us still share. Thanks for the beautiful flower shots!!! What a great find!!! I thought I saw very faded pics on the upper right ceiling of that one tucked into the rock.
I see two ruins at 3:09. There is another one (or two) to the left of the frame, but more fallen down. I have to say that even if you found no ruins, I immensely enjoy seeing the landscapes you are moving through! It's all so magnificent!
Another amazing video. Im amazed at how they get themselves up there. Im one for NOT disturbing time. Leave it as it was. This is a very nice young man!🙋♀️👍👏🏻👋😊
Truly one of your best videos! And I can't even express how much I love your drone, your software that shows us more ancient art and the software you used to make the 3D! But mostly for having the drive and the determination to get out there and explore and for taking us along! Thank you Jeff!
Toward the last part of your video it was drone footage up into a small ruin, I could have sworn I saw rock art lightly in the top part of the frame. Thanks for the great trek, there, Sir! As usual fantastic!
What a great trip. Thank you. The drones should be used on all these trips. Less damage to the sites. Less danger to all the people that go there. Blessings
Another profound archaeological discovery, not to mention another ancient dwelling that you have broadened my horizons with. Thank you again for your curiosity and insight into these hidden treasures!!!
Im in my 60s but even I would find a way up there. I love this channel and its one of just a few I cant wait for another episode to come out. Much love and respect for all you do friend and thanks so much for sharing these cool places.
❤❤❤ Thank you, Trek Plannner! I love your videos and dedication to your searches! I would rest easier did i know you weren't alone out there! Be safe always and thank you so much!
As a documentary soundeditor i suggest you lower the volume under the droneShots. Those shots are amazing but the music is to dominant and sometimes disturbing. Your little stories are pretty straight forward, thats good! Keep it up - 👍

@@teresahasopinions2329 And the real history is buried in the basement at the Smithsonian...

You're lucky to have had real history in class. My history teacher used to sit in class and talk American football all period. Talk about boring.
Who else could easily watch 6 hours of this drone footage with the music?
Yes, and you can always turn down the volume
Not ruins, but a wonderful drone view of Shiprock, Nm th-cam.com/video/GvSvnws6pkA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_uZ6ssixyNKXRpXK

Not until I found your channel did realize there are actually ruins everywhere.
It is really amazing how widely inhabited the Southwest was. We find pottery sherds on every single trail and nearby, and recently found 10 different home ruins including a grinding rock, where most people would not suspect anything existed. Once you start seeing them, you cannot unsee!
I am in awe at just how much there really is!
Your videos are so great. Other "trekkers" don't hold a candle to you. Your respect for these jewels is priceless.

The ones without petroglyphs... I always think of the mom telling the kids not to draw on the walls, lol.
Drone exploration at its finest .....no disturbing the area...great close up shots...and your climbing safety also....good show

The cave is totally awesome. This is the true essence of…”if walls could talk.” ❤❤❤
The flying eye records, the 3D program renders and we get to enjoy‼️
You do a beautiful job of matching musical selections to the site views.
Thank you for granting us the opportunity to explore and uncover the fascinating ruins. It was an enriching experience!
So nice of you! Thank you!
I'm not even a minute in, and the rock architecture is fantastic.....
Must've been a reasonably rainy spring given all the flowers and greenery

Especially children 😢😢😢
Skeletons of kids with healed broken bones are found. I'm sure it was a constant battle to keep the kids safe

Right now, this is one of the few really good uses of TH-cam.
You and your drone do us and the ancient ones a great service in recorning their existence. Thank you.
Up early to get the trash out and was so excited to see your post.
I'm so grateful you share your adventures ❤ from Grandma in Peru 🇵🇪
Those ridge caves look exactly like the background for Willie Nelson's new record, "I Work On The Border". Beautiful to say the least. Thanx for the great drone shots!♥
Its so amazing, how they got all those rocks up there, on these dangerous cliffs, to build a dwelling. wow.
For elders experiencing medical issues, it is wonderful to see . Thank you.
SO COOL--thanks for including and identifying the wildflowers!
Thank you! Going to try and do that in more videos!
It is amazing that these people were able to adapt and utilized the available raw materials to build these structures.
The beauty of this scenery is just stupendous!! Thank you so much for continuing to take me with you!!

What I believe you are looking at is reminisce of a flood removing part of the cliff face. The rocks and pottery were from dwellings along cliff walls
