Can this be done on a identical truss arrangement to that shown except in a 1984 timber frame house where there is no blockwork on gable end , just a plywood panel and brick skin outer layer.
The steel beams must laid on pre made concrete pads, and not on either brick or what looks like breeze blocks, also steel brackets should be bolted to each end of beams and walls.
Ryan H its definitely not easier. I used to hate working with the shit!!! Its a nightmare to cut and put up on your own anyway haha. Sometimes we had to use both celotex and this stuff.
Thermal values for soft insulation are nowhere near solid values, now days you'd need it 2 foot thick to get up to regs, it horrible stuff to work with but what insulation isn't
Domestic loft extension, using a crane ?? interesting budget.
Love the music really gets that foot tapping !
As someone in the industry it's nice to see an extremely professional company at work , well done lads.
Because breathing in dust and fibreglass and flooring joints not above joists is professional?
Did you use padstones for the RSJ?
I like it so much. please continuous it more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also the steel has not been treated.rust weakens steel.
There's a red item on this build .They placed the steel on thermolite block with no pad stones.oops!!
Nice use of PPE lads
lads u forgot to put concrete pad stones for the steel beans oops, ni building control would knock u back on that?? not a bad job very good

Everything covered guys. Brilliant work
@uskybear think these would be fixed onto floor beams
Experienced sparks do not strip twin and earth with stanley Knifes !
Isn't the steel beams a bit overkill?
Yes but under building regulations you can't do it without them because they say it weakens the structural integrity by removing the trusses.
Is that insulation better and cheaper and easier to install than celotex board's?

Very nice work! 10/10
excellent 10/10
No way that level of insulation would pass building control today. It's miles away from being enough.
Is that ridge steel needed??
1 year later.. the answer to your question is yes if you are introducing a dormer which the ridge of the dormer will be resting on.
@@4k3el you need one whether there's a dormer or not.theres no ridge plate because they are trusses
Long winded and expense for customer why not timber joists or doubled up just as strong and been used for first floor structure
You should never wrap a chain and hook it on to itself, steelworkers experience not up to scratch I’m afraid.
I wouldn't want 24 rafters @2' centers, which is essentially what you have now.
