Tricks are cool, but there's no "battle" here. I train daily with the Bo. Its frustrating that the only videos I seem to find are demonstrations and choreography. Does anyone actually know where to find videos of sparring and tournament sparring with the Bo staff? Plenty of practical HEMA videos out there, but none w/the bo.
I agree, its basically cheers leading with bo staff. Its difficult to find combative as many martial arts were forced to stop doing the combative side of training now it's more for sport.
I’m in Amerikick and tbh most of the tricks that are learned on with our weapons are never gonna be used in a real battle- they just showing us how to do tricks to impress
I'm pretty sure the center of Reid's are magnetic and that's how he balanced it. In another of his videos, he uses them both as one. I think they are magnetized together
+CW RH Leave it to America to take a respected traditional art form and develop a totally new art style requiring amazing amounts of technical skill while also preserving the older traditional art form with divisions like traditional forms and weapons still being very competitive. Just recognize the differences in the styles and enjoy them both maybe? Obviously they are both very loved.
+Chiyo C Uhhhhh... These Bo staffs are made of wood which = wooden Staff they wrapes on them to make them more visible when we are useing these demonstration weapons.
Not really it just proves how good he is because using 2 staffs is a lot harder than one the other guy lost soon as he was able to swing them both let alone doing the tricks with them

Emon Rashid a lot of them do traditional art but also practice hyper as it requires a high degree or unconventional skill and athletisicm
I'd love to see how these guys fare in an actual fight on the streets against a wooden staff
