I built this kit a few weeks ago. It is AWESOME. It easily keeps up with my ‘79 JMP 2203. I added a Metro Zero-loop effects loop, which works really well.

      That's awesome!

Now you guys need a 50w Plexi kit! Maybe ‘68 spec…

I'm getting this. Having you guys build it for me. With the Mojotone emblem. Thanks! 👍

Awesome! I am glad I waited instead of getting your other British kit.

The 2204/2203 JMP Lead from 76-77 is my personal favorite Marshall amp. They sound enormous with a 4X12 under them.

Love the turret board. That's the only way I would consider building one. Built several of your Fender style kits with great success.

Hey can you guys put out a video on the difference in sound between the 76’ 2204 and the 78’ cascading gain 2204?

So cool this kit exists. Certain modern amp companies keep trying to clone this thing and failing. They’re always too dark, dull, muffled, muddy and thuddy. It’s like people forgot that Plexi’s are supposed to be bright and crispy. “Ripping cardboard” is the goofy term I use to describe the tone of a good JMP through Greenbacks. The Brent Hinds Terror actually nailed it, but was improperly advertised as a metal amp, misunderstood and discontinued. Can’t wait to get my hands on this kit, but looks like I’ll need to decide on an attenuator first lol.

Love it! I have a Mojotone JTM 45, and it rocks! This is my next build. John, is it possible you guys could post a schematic on your guy's site to incorporate an effects loop into this head for time based effects?

Unfortunately, we don't offer the built out kit at this moment.

You should have no trouble finding a tech to build it for you.

Does this differ tonally from the Mojotone British Style 800? If so, could you explain the differences. Really interested in getting this new JMP kit.

    • @andyhayes7828

No circuit difference between the two kits, but REAL Marshall Jmp 2204's had lower plate voltages due to the power transformers used. All 50 watt Marshalls (1987,2204) starting from around 1975/76 had lower plate voltages (380 -400v). Previously, all 50 and 100 watters had similar voltages ( around 470v) .The jcm 800 series went back to the higher plate voltages. That is why a stock '82-'89 jcm 800 2204 will have a slightly harder, stiffer ( i know horrible comparitive words lol) sound, wheras a '76-'81 jmp 2204 will have just a hair more sag or softness. Differences between the 100 watt jmp 2203 and jcm 800 2203 are very very slight since the plate voltages between the two remained the same. The two kits ( jmp 2204 or 800 2204) are going to both use the same transformers and the output transformer will be like the pre 1975/post 1981 50 watters.

Mojotone, can the 2203 4 input amp be made into a JCM 800?

We used our Mojotone BV-25m speakers for this demo. Thanks!

Yes. Everything is included. You can also add your correct cabinet or head shell in the product page as well. Thanks!

I would buy stuff off of your website but the shipping is $15 for less than half a pound! I went with Philadelphia Luthiers instead.
