Old school cool! Love my traditional knives!!!
Hey Kevin, OLD SCHOOL all the way thanks for sharing 👍 just subscribed 👍
Thanks for this nice discussion topic video, I think you hit the nail right on the head. 👍As of late, I've been carrying both a modern folder and traditional slipjoint. I enjoy both. Take good care my friend and Cheers!
Old school all day
Great points here! Im joining this tag. That Kizer is sweet! But i also agree the traditionals just give us that great feeling. Thank you for sharing your knives and your thoughts. Much appreciated!
Ive always carried both well all 3 i always have a fixed, a traditional and a modern on me at all times. I lean towards traditional more though i think i love them..
Good one, Keb
When there's work to be done, I almost always know it ahead of time and I'll carry a one hand opener with a pocket clip.
Otherwise . . .
You and your grandpa knives. . . are awesome:) Great video brother!
Great video!
I love my modern knives, but something has been drawing me to these more traditional style Buck knives. Ordered my first 112 (nickel silver drop point) yesterday and super stoked to get it in hand.
Hey Boston, hope you're doing well. Enjoyed the look at the new versus the old. There's just mystique you can't get in a modern than you can in a piece that has stood the test of time. Thanks for the great vid.
Well said. I doesn't get much better than using a traditional knife with some memories attached to it.
Traditional(usually a Buck 112) in a sheath. Right pocket - modern. Left pocket - traditional. Victorinox SD classic hanging around my neck.
Great video Kevin! I like both old and new school knives! But my heart is with the old school! Thanks brother!
I used to carry a modern and a traditional but the last 90 days or so, I just carry traditional. Unless I’m testing one for a review, the moderns stay home. Nostalgia plays a part. The history and class of the older knives wins out over the bells and whistles of modern knives.
Hey Boston, I got modern and traditional knives and like both. However there’s just something about a traditional knife, the patterns, materials and feel just connect with me 😎👍🏻
Great knives buddy and thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thanks for the video, BBRKevin. The simple fact is ... I can appreciate any and all knives because of their utility, feel, and function as a tool. I enjoy modern knives for their convenience, technology, and ease-of-use ... but the price is not kind to my wallet. I enjoy older knives for their history, natural materials, outstanding build quality, and value. I agree there is a "classic feeling" carrying an older knife which is a pleasure on many levels.
Traditional all the way! Thanks for a great video, my friend.
I almost always carry a traditional unless I need to go stealth then it’s my Mini Griptillian
Nothing quite like a buck 110 fg brings back good memories. By the way nice video
I rotate my knives alot, and carry both modern and traditional knives. But the majority that I carry are traditional. Buck and Case are my two favorite brands to carry, and I also carry alot of Victorinox knives as well. Great video, buddy!
I think a good carry, is one 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣, one 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 and one 𝙎𝘼𝙆, even if it's on your keychain.
I just don’t get the same emotional connection with moderns as I do with traditionals. When I pull out a slipjoint and use it I can’t help but think of my dad, uncles or granddad.
I love modern folders.
I love the action.
I love the aesthetics, the profile, the blade shapes, the elegant lines.
I love the fidget factor.
I love some of the more modern materials that are being used (G-Mascus, milled titanium, Zircuti, etc)
I also love traditionals.
I love the rich history.
I love the patterns.
I love the passion that collectors have for them.
I love the traditional materials.
I love that almost every knife guy’s very first knife was a traditional folder.
With moderns, it’s too much “ooh wow awesome”, and then on to the next big thing immediately.
And that’s not so much the case with traditional folders (although some of that exists, but much less).
I’m a knife guy and I love knife guys.
But knife guys that have an appreciation and passion for traditional folders are more welcoming and friendly, than those knife guys that are strictly into modern folders.
Not always, but in general.
Good stuff brother!
👊🏻
Well said
@@lcurtsinger4313 Thank you!
Hey man you know me I'm a traditionalist I always love old-school pocket knives and I love that they're still being made but also they're also being made with upgraded materials awesome man get back to me when you can about the next upcoming LifeStream I'm going to try to make it if I have nothing else to do
I love old-school knives from the 30s all the way up to maybe the early 90s they are not made the same anymore
Same here brother I have not had much time for posting videos myself between work (bills!!!) and daily life responsibilities (property maintenance, wife & kids projects) I can barely take time for myself. Old-school blades are built well! Even the old Chinese made versions were made real solid! I have a few. Great video awesome blades and I love the leather that goes with some of them. Dude as far as the negative things people say, it goes in one ear and out the other. Trolls come at me all the time. It really does not bother me one bit. I'm all about being positive.
Great video brother!! Give me a traditional on my hip or in a slip any day over modern cookie cutter bullshit!!! Not gonna lie, I love a modern while wading and fishing where I can usually only use 1 hand but any other time I got the extra few seconds to open up a traditional.
"Fidget" knives are great, you can play with them and flick them open and shut, ad nauseam until your significant other tells you to stop before they take it and stab you with it. But with a slipjoint, every move is deliberate, often two handed, dare I say it, more Zen? Thanks for sharing.
YES!
Very well put.
Just something about it.
It’s like actually holding a book instead of reading on a device.
Or like putting on a vinyl record and letting it play all the way through instead of listening online.
There’s a connection between user and implement.
I’m getting weird haha
I agree though!
My traditional knives outnumber my modern folders 190 to 10 So I suppose I’m old school My traditional knives are jewelry for guys lol at least that’s what I tell my wife
Nice video and collection
Nothing wrong with the Buck 110. I love all knives.
You have a good knife collection and I personally like both traditional and modern style folders and fixed blade designs.
You are correct there's no right or wrong and I know of some channels that don't like nothing but traditional foldes and that is perfectly okay with me they are the ones I learned the most about those types of knives from. 😊
Shame on the person that made a comment trying to put your knife choice down when you paid your hard earned money for what you like. 🎯
I am an old school fan of the slip joints and lock backs. I am not a big fan of some of these new style "pocket" knives such as the Spyderco knives(sorry) and others like that. I do own some newer styles but prefer old school.
Nice collection bud.
New tech. Does a new bm do anything other than an 1850 old hickory. They both just cut don't they. I think it's kinda funny how the slip joints are so popular now when lots of people a decade ago acted like they were obsolete. No matter how they open or the steel they're made from they still just cut
I love old school knives because I'm old school. But I also love new school knives because some day THEY will be old school knives and youngsters will be talking crap then too.
Old farmers and hunters know that a simple Case or Buck is a hardworking and sufficient tool that will last them decades.
Modern knives have the additional tasks of killing zombies and impressing tattooed hipster steel snobs at the local fair trade coffee shops.
