Thank you so much Jennifer. I'm so glad we have a new member in the junk journaling world! Please have a go at making one. I hope you find as much joy in this craft as I have. Good luck :)
I love your tutorials, too. I take a picture on my phone of your wonderful instructions and then when I get them developed, I put them in a journal I have for future use. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us every step. I think while it is still winter, I will take the time to do lots of ephemera ahead of time so it does make it easier when filling up the journals. I am also inspired in taking the time to sew, too. It makes the pages and tags so much prettier. Keep up the great work you do. I am one who cant come up with the ideas, but I can sure try with your help to try doing them.
Thk u so much Natasa! I was feeling overwhelmed... Surrounded by paper, glue, cards etc.. Wondering.. Where do I begin?! And no RyanO'Neal to come to my rescue either! And voila! There you appear.. My fairy godmother with this magical step by step video! Grateful thx.!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad this video came at the right time. We all go through the same struggles, me included, which is why I made this video. I get you hehe
I discovered your channel by mere "oportunity meets effort" when i was looking at the junk journaling tag in my "no apps phone"(i don't have social media there, basically), and your video popped up and called strongly my attention… But now, after 8 to 10 videos, i know i found a hidden gem. This type of journaling never felt fully confortable to me, i ain't good at sewing, i'm picky with my papers and arrangements bc i'm also an illustrator(and very perfectionist and "neat" at that), the aesthetics of normal journaling tend to be very dainty, and full of couple "anime" or korean-like stickers(which i don't vibe with, i profusely despise having human faces staring at me in my journals, and any human body by itself is kinda weird), and full of expensive materials, which i want, yes, but not ALL of them!! And i specially have troubles with hipsters-like aesthetics and minimalistic journals… But i found this channel, and i felt so conforted by your words, it made me feel better about myself… You keep on repeating, "It doesn't have to be perfect" "You can use other colours if you want" "If it's nor your style, you can do it differently" And don't hesitate to show us how varied and chaoticly pretty your collections are, proudly sharing your creations(you might not be an amateur illustrator like me, but you SURELY create a lot!! And everything is beautifull, so you're like, a "scrapbooking/journaling artist", very specialized), to the point it's easy to get lost in your reassurance and believe in one's self… That i can't help it but feel inspired, and that IT IS OKAY, if i wanna create just for the sake of it And IT IS OKAY, if it is not perfect, or made from things people wouldn't even bat an eye for, like a cookie illustration from a plastic bag package, or a cute tag made with cardboars from tea boxes. It's okay to just do it, and be content with it, even if it is not "brand new" from a shop, and it doesn't have to be museum worthy to be art and be enjoyable to show and make. Thank you so much for this videos, they inspire me so so much💖💖💖 I hope you find the secret to happiness in the other side of the rainbow, little and nice junk journal leprechaun full of joy and wonder ✨🌈🐇💖🍀
I simply love your video. It’s great to show steps too cuz sometimes your creative brain goes a mile a minute and don’t know where or how to get started. Thank you Nat. Your are Marvelous Darling!,,, lov always. Lin
I just watch an rewatch your videos.. Love your combinations for colors and for closures, etc. Mostly i make the cover from some inspiration first and then fill. But I'm always saving individual papers for a signature.
Thank you so much Natasa. I agree with the other comments, the best video I have seen on getting started and the process, so simple. I am a beginner and this will be a tremendous help. I won't need to overthink things from now on. All the best to you in these trying times.
I have been watching your TH-cam channel for several weeks now. I have watched other channels but yours is my favorite. I love your style and casual approach yet you are very detailed. I have created a few pieces, not journals per se. I found some of my mothers old pictures and included were the old cardboard frames that the photographers used to display the photos. I still have a way to go but I have to say with your help they didn't come out awful! Thank you so much for your wonderful videos and your style. You're terrific! Thanks.
Thank you so much for this step-by-step JJ video! It's very helpful and I will your helpful suggestions. Your videos are always so well planned and structured, I like it a lot! For me, the timing is perfect alsoю Цe will be doing 10 Books in our "Discovery Club" with 10 kids in a Church. I will do my prototype this week and think about how to simplify the process for 7-12 years old. Hopefully, they will be able to succeed. It is my first time as a teacher for kids, so I am a little bit worrying. We will try to keep choices to the minimum and steps as simple as possible. Hugs from Kazakhstan!
I sometimes have a firm measurement on the cover (when pre existing), sometimes a decided measurement on the papers for the signature, as when I want all letter size folded in half. That determines which I do first. I love this tutorial, and it is so carefully and clearly presented! I love the cute little journal that you made!
thanks for this. up until now i have painted/embellished pages before sewing them in as i thought it made sense. however after watching this it is clear that it is much better to sew them in first, with a few exceptions xxx
I have only just found your channel and am also quite new to all this but your tutorials have given me the confidence to try different things instead of just using paper packs. So thank you for sharing your brilliant talent on here. I am looking forward to binge watch all your other videos ❤😊
This is wonderful, it takes out all the guess work of what goes first and the worry of missing a step and ending up disappointed. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks. This makes so much sense. Ending one huge apartment project before I pull out my stash (many years' worth) and GO. Bet I'll come back to this as I start.
Hi Natasa ❤️ Thanks for this sequence of events for making a junk journal. Very helpful. And very much appreciated.😘🤩 Now I can proceed to make my own with total (or almost) confidence. This video is an invaluable resource. I've saved it to watch over and over again.🥰 Thanks for breaking it down to the basics.
You read my mind tonight, Natasa! I've been sitting here for hours trying to concentrate on a movie I've paused 3 million times because all I'm thinking is...do I sew the signature pages first or wait? One question leads to another question. You've answered all in one video! How great are you 😁 you just don't know how much I appreciate this video and the time you took to make it. Thank you so much ❤️
I wanted to say thank you for your great videos as they have inspired me to make my first book! It's been great to see how easy this can be and that I need to stop over thinking, get out of fear and just do it. I have always said that I was the one person in my family that was not touched by the arts N crafts gene. Today that has all changed!! Thank you again and blessing to you and yours.
This is a very helpful video😊💕! Yes, I did screenshot the steps. They will help keep me focused instead of panicking when I see all the junk. I mean ephemera for my journaling 😆! I get overwhelmed with choosing the things and what to do with them😁. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos💗🤗!
OMG! This is exactly what I needed. After 2 days of binging every video I could find I found you! :-) I'm so thankful that I now have steps to follow and this big magical journey can be put to life for me. :-) thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are absolutely a treasure. 💜
Thank you so much for this. I just finished a small travel journal and realized that I hadn't given any thought to a closure 😩. Your breakdown will be of enormous help on future projects 🤗.
This video is wonderful, thank you Natasa. I am confident it will help immensely. I am a process person and following step by step is just what the doctor ordered.
It's always soo inspiring to see and hear you, a tru teacher 😊💕💕,, and i have been struggling with cover i shod make, now i know 🥰😄👍, so thank you Natasha for all the fine tips, this is waht I'm going to make for a girl on hers 60 birthday 😊🙌💕💕💕
A Very helpful video! Thank you! ...I Really like this journal. the tassel was Sweet, not too heavy or bulky. I don't do a lot of tassels but the way you did this one was Great! I will try your method. ...I'm all for Simple so this guideline was perfect for me.
I think it’s always nice to learn how others make their journals, you might discover new ideas to incorporate into your journals! love your clip charms (fishing doodads) cool idea! tfs!
One of my favorite videos and one I have referred back to several times. Thank you! You make everything look so easy and everything is always beautiful!
Natasa, I am a newbie in making JJ from scratch .. Can you tell me if I want to sew the pages like what you showed on your videos, do I need to use different needles from the one I use for sewing materials? Thanks!
Paper blunts your needles very fast. If you use your sewing machine to sew materials, I would have a separate needle. I only use my sewing machine for JJs so I don't mind and I just use the one needle.
🥰 I would've maybe just added a pocket to back cover maybe? 🤔?... I haven't tried fabric on notebook cover yet, wonder if a blue jean pocket would be cute?
The journalist you make are just beautiful. What I really want to know though is do people really write in the journals or do they just create beautiful books? And if they do write in the books what did they journal about?
As always Natasha you have delivered such a great video. So helpful and answers all the questions one has when starting out in making journals. I may even now get my first one made lol.
Natasa I was looking at flip through videos and you mentioned a letter that you include that explains what a junk journal is and how to use it, at least I think it was you! I believe you mentioned where you found one? Can you help? I just love your videos! Thank you!
This is one of the best videos. Everything is clear and concise. I appreciate you taking the time to do this and it reminds me of how unorganized I can be. Where did you get the circular stencil you used? Really liked it and seems easy to use.
What is the note you put in the junk journal when someone purchases one? I made one for my friend and wanted to put something in there on what it is, what to use it for etc. tia!
I think this was a great video to not only show us your process, but it explains your reasons and gives us some alternative ideas. I was quite impressed. I shared the video. 🐇💜🌻💚🕉️🐌💛🦋🐰🐞

One step at a time, and then its not overwhelming at all. Enjoy!!!
