    #MAVERICKWATCHREVIEWS #BOLDRVENTURE Guys BOLDR just keeps knocking it out of the park with every new release! This 2nd gen Venture is fantastic! I love the increased water resistance to 200m and the addition of an automatic movement. This watch feels and looks like it was made by one of the more established watch companies. While small for me personally you really ought to snap one of these up if you like a smaller case size.

    Changed the case design, added 3 colors, doubled water resistance, added screw down crown, added a bezel / height, an automatic movement, and have better packaging than the 1st gen I own. Wow. For $300 not on sale, it still seems like a great deal for a watch.

    Personal preference. I like mine without the date. In fact, I like everything about this watch. Got mine on pre-order for $249.

    Almost bought this one yesterday. But cooler heads prevailed. I probably will end up with a Boldr sooner or later.

    nice boldr venture...if only there was a date and a back case display ... maybe I don't think anymore of choosing this watch

    • @discingaround
      @discingaround 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually field watches don't have a date function by design. Maybe adding a date option would suit everyone though, and might look good along the way. Case back display would be a decent option and up sell as well for Boldr.

    It actually looks good on you. I have an 8" wrist I'm regularly wearing 38-40 km cased watches. Those gloves on the other hand must go. You should find a local uniform shop and get a bag of cotton parade gloves.

    Not familiar with BOLDR but appears to be a very nicely made watch overall.
    Totally agree with all of your wish list for improvements. However, I'm going to take it a step further. In addition to your desire for a Date window, keep a variable with the dial as is and use the correct Seiko NH38A movement. If they're going to make all the buckles on the strap titanium, well??? The movement is more important than a couple little strap retainers that 95% couldn't swear it was titanium or blasted steel.
    You nailed it suggesting a 42mm variation. If you hadn't said anything, I was going to suggest a 42-45mm variation. Their lug to lug distance is spot on. Using the same scaling, BOLDR could pull off the perfect fit and appearance.
    Keep up with the awesome unbiased reviews 👍

    Thanks for the video as I watched this a few times before buying my Venture. However, I thought I'd report that on the Venture that I just ordered direct from Boldr... there is no date wheel on the movement. I was ready to punch a hole in the dial to make my own custom Venture with a date window. Now I'm debating buying a new movement with day/date wheels (my preference) or seeing if I can add a date wheel to this existing movement. 🤔
    I'd suggest editing this video for other potential buyers. Thank you, Jason.

    42mm probably too big ... 40mm would work (i have a 7.5inch wrist btw).
    Date wheel - if they do it it should be 1) at the 6 o'clock position and 2) color matched.

      Why do you like no date?

    • @williamthomas5780
      @williamthomas5780 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maverickwatchreviews partly because most of my other watches are day/date (and larger).
      None are field watches though and I'm drawn to the dial. Non-complicated, not busy. I feel that the date would hinder the theme. It's a rather subjective point that may be trite.
      There are a number of other NH35-A no date pieces. I'd imagine it comes from the reliability in conjunction with the price. "Ghost wheel it is then!".
      Really great video BTW. Work appreciated.
      Sub, M.

      Maverick Watch Reviews I like no date in certain watches for two reasons. One, if you aren’t wearing it every day, it’s a lot easier to just set time and go. Two, it declutters the dial and keeps everything symmetrical.

    38mm is actually large for a field watch. If you want BIG, get a dive watch. Or an Alkin.

    Why should a microbrand offer a flawed product just by categorization?
    Aren't the big brands knows for overcharging and cutting corners? Seiko with crystals and bracelets. You know where you fav big brands lets you down.
    Direct sale helps a lot in bringing more value for the buck. Low marketing cost. Contrary to fashion watch brands, of course.

    I also would love a bigger version. Leave the 38 in the line up for smaller guys. I have a 7.25" wrist, and 38 feels small now. I have a 38mm Victorinox field-ish watch from 2 decades ago, and it feels too small. It's just hard to go back to small watches after realizing the advantages of a slightly bigger watch. The improved legibility of a bigger watch is also nice. I wouldn't even need 42, but at least a 40, or even better at 41 would be perfect. If this was bigger, I would buy it. I want a rugged, legible, field watch and this would be perfect if not for the size.

    • @JasonHoogerhyde
      @JasonHoogerhyde 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought it because I can wear 38mm divers with no issues. But this lug to lug is so small that it just feels way to tiny on my wrist. Going through a return on it now.

      I also have a 7.25" wrist and for a field watch the size works well for me. But must admit after wearing it for a week my Seiko Samurai did feel really big! My review of the venture: th-cam.com/video/FmJiwB4TG8w/w-d-xo.html

    The Boldr watches look fantastic, BUT...average movement, and where am I getting it serviced? Ship it off to Singapore? I don't think so. Couldn't care less about the lack of a date or no case back display. And I get why the crown is at 4 o'clock but I loathe it.

      Just my opinion: for the price, the movement is spot on. It is a work horse movement. Used by Seiko on their midrange watches. Accuracy deviation is not at COSC level, but no one expects it at this price. Still a decent movement as I have a couple of watches with the same movement. As for the servicing, what kind of servicing will it need? You can replace the whole movement with a brand new one for less than $50 plus the labor. If it was a watch with manufacturer in-house movement with complications, I could see the point for having to worry about servicing. This is a set it and forget it watch. When the movement goes, you can buy a new one or take it to any watch maker for repair.

    Way too thick for a field watch. Make a handwinding one that's under 10mm and we can talk!
