Well I caught giratina with a dive ball, palkia in a nest ball and dialga in a level ball with my level 7 hm user on field, I can vouch for the random and eccentric pokeball tastes of the creation trio.
Oh try my current poke all choice for catching the creation trio. Dialga- Timer ball (fitting and I throw them early to make it harder) Palkia- Heal ball (color matches) Giratina- Luxury ball (color match and hard as HELL to pull off) And my current proudest achievement in my whole Pokémon career Hall of Origin Arceus...in a freaking premier ball. Biggest bragging rights to date considering it having an even worse move set then Giratina: Hyper Voice Future Sight Recover Refresh

Reminds me of the the time me and a friend hunted for the Musketeers in BW and she caught both Cobalion and Virizon in regular Pokéballs after they ate up all of her Ultra, Timer and Dark Balls. Good times.
I remember playing Pokemon Diamond for the first time and i was up against Dialga. I used so many Ultra balls and I had only a Great ball left and it caught it. Best feeling ever.

There should be a hilarious ability on certain Pokemon called Chuggaluck. With this ability, the catch rates between Pokeballs and Ultra Balls are swapped, and Premier Balls have a 4x catch rate indefinitely.
When my brother was playing Pokemon Diamond he had me try to catch Dialga for him and after paralyzing it and dropping it to crit health I threw a pokeball and it worked on the first try

One time i was playing pokemon alpha sapphire, i encounterd Heatran, and i was trying to catch it. I am NOT making this up. I threw an ultra ball, and it failed, i then threw a great ball as joke, and it failed(Obviously) and then i threw a poke ball, and i CAUGHT it. I jumped out of my bed and jumped in joy and laughter because of that.
