That's me now. I was born with the perfect ears and used them w/ absolutely no problems for 43 years then lost one ear's hearing ability one day at work out of blue. It has only been 3 months now but I do stand on the right side of the person I am talking to, I sleep on my left side with my left (good) ear against pillow to block out noise. I double check my right side when crossing a road because I can't hear the cars coming at all from the right side. I am glad to see some young people having the same problem as me and accept to live with it. No offense. I have seen only the older folks having the hearing problem like me. Did you consider getting a Cochlear Implant? My doctor recommends that I get one and I am indecisive.
Someone else who was born deaf in one ear like me! I don't know if I've ever come across that before. So funny how we both use the same sleep trick. And for a while I only used one ear bud for music, but I got tired of people asking me why I'm only using one instead of two. Also because people kept taking it as a sign that they can disturb me 😜
This is very good. I had sudden hearing loss 40 years ago. Yes it wasn’t easy when I was young and hangin out with friends or in a bar or dating. But I have simply learned to live with it and I’m amazed at how both the brain and body adapt. You have a solid view on what its all about...God or whomever you think is that higher power fortunately gave you and I 2 ears, just like 2 eyes, so when trauma knocked out one of those ears, I simply made some adjustments and carried on with my business. These days I have no prob telling people I’m kinda deaf on one side and friends and family know to always be on my left side and I get very strategic in business meetings or sitting down in restaurants, but again, I have zero probs asking someone to move...well worth the 2 sec embarrassement vs an entire dinner where I cant hear half the people. One suggestion: I have heard (no pun intended!) that if you use Apple airbuds with noise cancellation and keep that in your good ear during loud settings, you will do much better hearing. Reason being, as one side hearing only ppl, our brain/ears tend to focus on all the louder background noise vs someone sitting right next to us talking. There’s also a rumor out there that Apple will be developing a system where you have a speaker on your bad ear and a microphone on the other ear/bud transmitting sound. I know there are devices out there that do something very similar, but being as vain as I am, dont love the look of a hearing aid and apple AirPods a much cooler look. I ‘m also aware that there are cochlear implants now avail for SSD ppl, but very tough to hide that disk that sits on top of your head or the hearing aid looking thing. In either case, long winded way of saying you can live an increasingly healthy and successful life with unilateral hearing loss as I did!
@@kartikdeo3135 the only real solutions at this stage are as follows (and please note, I’m not a Dr or audiologist, just someone who’s suffered from this for many years): 1) cochlear implants are thought to be very effective, but very tough to hide both the disc on the head and the device behind the ear, so basically you’re broadcasting to the world that you have a hearing problem and 2) a crossover, which is a fancy name for a pair of eye glasses or a device that has a microphone on one side of your ear (your bad ear) and then a speaker on the other side (good ear). In my view, there have been almost no true advances in dealing with this type of hearing loss. That being said, Ive learned to live with just one ear functioning and while it quite literally sucked for the first few year, as I got older, I grew much more accustomed to it, such that if the other ear ever miraculously turned back on, it would prob feel very weird.
@@kartikdeo3135 no. Not using a hearing aid will not affect your other ear. That being said, you may want to see an audiologist or an ENT to see if they can help in any way. Good luck!
The noise is what they call tinnitus its brain trying make up sound due hearing loss. For me I lived with everyday over 20 years. I AM DEAF IN MY LEFT SIDE.
Hey thank you! I needed to see someone who I can relate too. You described everything I go through on a daily basis. So Thank you.

One ear work properly , other ear don't work
If i don't use hearing aid , may damage both ear in future?
