    Before joining Go Cloud Architects I was so lost on my career path. I was trying to get all Associate level certifications to impress the employers. I WAS WRONG!
    Mike was able to clear that idea out of my head. Now I’m focused on learning the CLOUD!
    I really appreciate it Mike.
    Thanks so much!

    Excellent explanation of the roles. I was really confused before I happened to stumble upon your videos a few months ago. I wanted to get into a cloud role, but I didn't really want to learn Terraform, Python, etc. I have already spent 15+ years doing Linux administration and ready for a change. So excited to be in the program. That's a sweet shirt btw!

    In my company Cloud Architect is just software developer who does talking to the customer, draw basic architecture and do coding and coding and coding and testing and testing etc. Typical software development but with some cloud elements, that’s it. Don’t be surprised, “architect” is just a word. Company looks for developer, so you sit a do coding.

    I swear imma send this guy a check once I get my first check, the way he talks is easy to understand, I’m getting my certs now , multiple cloud architect, database engineer

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I’m so happy your hear and learning.
      If you want to be a cloud architect I would skip the database engineer. It will take you away from architecture and move you to a database engineering career which is a different skills set and career.
      Now if you love databases and want to be a database engineer instead of a cloud architect that’s another story.
      I just want you to have a great career.

    Wow Mike, this is an eye opener on Solutions Architect. Although the slide is short but it is loaded. While listening, I just remembered my work experience in Financial Institute as a Relationship Manager- telling customers about the bank's products that can benefit their businesses. Mike, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately it doesn’t work.
      That’s like trying to be a great physician by becoming and accountant, lawyer and physician.
      This makes someone an enthusiast not a professional.
      You could spend 50 years as an architect and still learn everyday.
      If you split your focus you won’t be able you be good at anything just a hobbyist at everyone.
      You will have surface level knowledge on everything.
      So I recommend you become an expert at your job and not someone else’s.

      @@GoCloudArchitects Thank You. But can I really be a great Cloud Architect without having expert knowledge of these other roles? I'm about to study Cloud Computing for my master's, coming from a computer science undergrad background... I thought being an architect was something you earned from having experiences in these roles.
      (Thanks For Your Advice)

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@flowmaintenance
      The roles are not relevant to an architect
      They make you think differently and in most cases make you not an architect
      In fact the biggest challenge we face with experienced engineers is to change their thinking, change their resume so we can convince the hiring manager the person is not a software engineer
      So I’ll put it another way as these caters are SO different
      Do you think if your goal was to be a physician you should train to be a lawyer and an airline pilot
      Do you think that will make you a better physician
      So what happens when someone tries to learn three different careers? They become bad at all three careers.

      Cloud architects and enterprise architects are a hybrid of a tech executive and a design (not building) expert.
      This is really not a self learn position. This is a position that pays as much as a physician or attorney and requires training.
      We have a 500 hour plus training program that gets people hired every day.

    Hi, Do cloud architects touch on cloud security? I want yo do something related to cloud and security:)

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely - security is very important in our role.
      Cloud architects must design security into every architecture.
      Now cloud security architects only focus on security.
      But cloud architects work heavily with security.

    So a cloud architect is a product manager. 👀

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not quite!
      A cloud architect focuses on designing and implementing cloud infrastructure and solutions, ensuring they meet technical and business requirements.
      In contrast, a product manager is responsible for the overall strategy, roadmap, and feature definition of a product.
      While both roles collaborate closely, their primary responsibilities and skill sets are different.

    But Company paid same amount for Cloud Admin and Cloud Architect they all are do same work almost more Organizations

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While I see his point, my 25+ years in the industry show a different trend.
      Cloud architects usually earn more than cloud administrators due to their strategic role and broader expertise.
      Architects design and plan cloud infrastructures, requiring deep technical knowledge and alignment with business goals.
      Administrators, vital for day-to-day cloud operations, focus on deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
      The higher pay for architects reflects their wider skill set and significant impact on organizational success.
      However, specifics can vary by organization and market demand.

      No one is born with any skills. We learn them through great education.
      We train these skills in all our architect programs as it’s not possible to do the role without these skills.
      But it’s like anything else. All you need to do is learn and you can do great.

      Actually the roles are very different
      There is also about a 100 thousand dollar per year difference on average between cloud architect and cloud admin roles.
      But there is much more upside as an architect roles. For example there are many principal architect roles that pay 200-300k more than admin roles.
      There are also chief architect roles that pay over 800k per year.
      But what matters is doing what you love.
      And anyone can learn any of these roles with the right training.
