- There's no denying the Windy 29 Huracan a lot of money for a 29ft sportsboat. But thanks to its premium looks and build quality as well as its superior cruising range, fuel efficiency and comfort, it has no trouble justifying it, says Hugo Andreae.

windy builds a beast. lovely boat!

Marvelous test and reporting, Hugo. Isn´t it nice, after all the swoopy curvy shapes of the 90´s, to see boats return to more practical flat vordecks, and better use of cockpit space. The quality of Windy has always been great, but it really shines on this compact sportster. I find it is vastly underrated by first time buyers, but good access to well laid out ancilliaries allows minor technical issues to be sorted on the go. By the way, the purpose of the flip-up bolster is, beyond what you described, so that when manouvreing in close quarters, the skipper has a good view of the extremities. Additionally, if single handed, can move quickly to deal with docking duties.

Yet another amazing boat from Windy, and great review as well! Fuel economy figures sounds weird in terms of Nm/litre, in Sweden we’d say how many Liters/Nm, I was gonna ask why but I guess it makes sense for Brits since you use mpg on the road.

People who can afford this boat, aren't going to worry too much about the fuel economy. It's like there not going to drive it everyday and when they do, they will make the most out it. I like the diesel numbers. I think they should change the seat and steering column adjustment, up/down, in/out. Nice boat.
I do around 100 hours a season in mine and care about the economy. With the diesel I can do 30+ knots at 40 l/h. With a gasoline engine similar speed would be 60 l/h minimum. In a season that's around 4000 euros of difference on the fuel alone.
The hull port side already looks to have damage to the port side 15:31, not sure if the hull is as strong from damage as it should be.

Nice little boat Hugo......but I think the FORMULA 310SS would give it stiff competition..... the Formula is more expensive but then it does have two engines, either sterndrive or outboard..... and arguably better fit out. That helm seat/position on the Windy seems like a major oversight to me...... S
Probably depends what you plan to use it for and whether you need/want a diesel engine

@@hugoandreae3785 I would imagine Hugo that they ALL go out the factory door with the biggest petrol engines you can spec.....haha!! And why not? If you want economy....you don't buy one of these boats....:)
In a Coho GT the seat rises higher when you push it forward. Probably the same in the Huracan.

The boat needs the kitchen behind the passenger seat and it needs a DINGHY garage not a sun pad and it should have a Mercury racing six drive so it could do 70 mph
It would have to be a very small dinghy to fit under that

It is made in Poland. Only the larger Windys are made in Scandinavia these days

Shocking price !! Nice boat but for the price,, it should be running in the 60 mph range not under 50 ...
As long as it cruises in the late 20’s and does more than 35kts what on earth is the point in a boat that goes faster?
It’s about the quality.
It’s like rubbish American cars - fast in a straight line but can’t corner -boats that do 60mph are usually so flat bottomed they are rubbish in a usual chop - whereas this is like a Porsche, fast enough but rides and corners beautifully
@gw4182 Living in South Florida, storms / bad weather come up fast...I've been caught in bad weather before, having a "Fast" boat is always a safe bet , not to mention getting to the fishing area quick .. You can keep your 35 kts, if I'm paying ridiculous cash amounts, I want certain things. We can agree to disagree..
HOW MUCH, with a diesel it's the wrong side of 300k, this is a small sports boat, typical of Windy, like all of their boats they think quality build equals lets rip people off, it really isn't worth what they want for it, like the recent Fairline troubles, and of course well known pasts with Sunseeker and Princess, people are waking up to this type of robbery.
