it took till 1998 when the first ever sliding door trains arrived on the line they were called the Class 317's - nothing new about them they were surplus trains from the West Anglia line
Started commuting to Fenchurch Street from Basildon in 1991. Couldn’t imagine the old slam door trains in today’s safety conscious world - those passengers who used to leap out as the train pulled in so they didn’t have to walk from the front of the train back to the exit.

How things have changed! This line is run by C2C and is one of the best.
Yep C2C is class but has definitely also gone a bit downhill in the last 2 years
C2c are appalling nowadays and rude customer service
