- Philippines former president and icon of democracy Corazon "Cory" Aquino was recently diagnosed with cancer of the colon. In this report, Kris and Noynoy talks about their mother's challenge, while Alfredo Lim and Franklin Drilon reacts.

Former President Benigno Simeon Aquino IlI is laid to his final resting place beside his parents, former Senator Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino, Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino, at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City on June 26, 2021. The late President is accorded with arrival honors and 21- gun salute to pay homage to his life and legacy as the 15th Chief Executive of the Philippines. President Aquino succumbed to renal disease secondary to diabetes in the morning of June 24, 2021. He was 61 years old. His remains were cremated on the same day of his passing. He served as a three-term Representative of the Second District of Tarlac in the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2007 and a Senator of the Republic from 2007 to 2010 prior to his election as Chief Executive.
Straight from her arrival from the United States, President Arroyo and some members of her Cabinet went directly to Manila Cathedral to pay their last respects to former President Corazon Aquino before the scheduled burial today (Wednesday) at the Manila Memorial Park. President Arroyo cut short her US trip to be able to visit the wake of the former leader. She was politely received by Sen. Benigno Noynoy Aquino III and stayed on for at least 10 minutes to offer a short prayer and also view the remains of the nations peace advocate and icon of democracy. Cory Aquino led the nation in a peaceful EDSA People Power revolution in 1986 and ended the regime of Ferdinand Marcos. She died early morning of August 1 at the Makati Medical Center from cardio respiratory arrest, complications brought about by her advanced colon cancer

She died on August 1, 2009 at 3:18 AM following a year-long battle with colon cancer.
