SONGKRAN is the Thai New Year’s festival held between 13 and 15 April.
Thailand’s biggest party and the worlds biggest water fight.
From young to old, everyone joins in. You put on colourful beach shirts, grab any container that can hold water or equip yourself with a huge super soaker water gun. Locals will drive around with buckets or even barrels of water in the back of ute’s and splash water at everyone as they drive past.
Unless you are shy of water or just can’t stand having fun, it is FUN.
Due to the global situation however the past few years had to have very muted celebrations until April 2022 where Thailand was finally allowed to turn the celebrations up a little for the a long awaited time.
Songkran 2022 was the busiest Bangla road, Patong has been in a couple of years. Not near what it used to be like, but an opportunity to welcome life back into the infamous walking street of Phuket.
If you have never been to Thailand during Songkran,
unless you are shy of water or just can’t stand having fun,
add it to your bucket list.
Put it in your plan for next year.
It is the greatest water fight in the world
and you will not go home dry!
You will go home having had one of the most entertaining and fun new year celebrations!
