I have two extremely stressful days a year and tomorrow is one of them. Thank you for the comfort and thank you for all of the effort and love that have gone into all of your videos. I enjoy your content so much and am so grateful for you. Have a great week and thanks again! ❤
Aaa this is such a fun idea! My roommates and I do something kinda similar, we put genres of movies in a hat and we get thee genre choices. Every time we get to replace one genre with a new one! The only other rule is that the movie must new to at least one person. :> it’s been fun to watch movies I normally wouldn’t have considered!!
@@MauveASMR Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes! The premise didn’t really interest me but it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen recently ^_^ it’s silly and also a incredible technical film! Genuinely don’t know how they filmed it!!
This is such a great idea Mauve! I’m totally taking this and using it with my partner as our movie and show list is just too varied to chose from sometimes!
When I was watching this video for the first time it was released (1 yr ago)- all was fine in my life. Now, when all fell apart, I am watching it again- just to remind myself to be greateful fo little things in life.
first of all, live for the days when you post ❤❤❤ these rambles are the best! I'm realizing I've never seen a glenn close movie and need to get on it ASAP!
Ah, this sounds so fun! My partner and I have hosted a weekly film club since the start of the pandemic (coming up on the three-year anniversary!), and our favorite thing has been hosting themed series. We've done things like feminist horror film fest, sci-fi summer, French women directors, "Cozy Mystery Theatre," and Japanese cinema. It's an absolute blast, and we've discovered a lot of gems this way. One of the biggest crowd-pleasers has been Coherence (2013), a low-budget sci fi that unfolds like a really engrossing play. I've been chasing the high of discovering it ever since.
Yes yes yes Coherence is so good! I saw that at a film festival when it came out and was similarly SO DELIGHTED by it. Love that you do a weekly film club. If you see this, I would love to get some recs! What'd you watch for feminist horror films and French women directors, in particular? Also where's my invite 😂💜
Love this! I walked backwards into a similar project recently!! I love genre media, but think that a ton of contemporary genre media is, charitably, operating in modes that I find at best boring and often actively off-putting. I just rewatched the first six Star Wars movies a few weeks ago (I am, regrettably, "a prequels guy"), and it got me REALLY curious about the history of genre film (primarily, science fiction). So I decided it would be fun to watch as much pre-Star Wars science fiction cinema as possible (to figure out "what happened"). So far, I've watched Alphaville (1965) (which *rocks* and almost sent me down a Godard/French New Wave hole, but I'm just limiting myself to also watching La Chinoise for now), Fantastic Planet (1973) (which I watched with a friend and we really enjoyed! it's got a really good vibe and still looks _really_ unique), and Robinson Crusoe On Mars (1964) (of which I loved the first 60 minutes or so, and then Friday shows up and it majorly sucks to watch). Definitely keep us updated on upcoming film cycles!! I'm majorly in my Movies Era right now and am very interested in hearing movies talk.
@@MauveASMR I just watched La Chinoise last night so, speaking a someone extremely informed on the subject (having seen _two_ movies now): cannot recommend this hole enough omg I feel reborn
Ahhh, the elusive shadow couple. Makes perfect sense! Been there myself (sorta). INTJ x ENFP can keep all the MBTI memes, but you guys are the true golden pairing, in my book. Hmmm, you're 4w5, right? What's your partner's enneagram type?
@@MauveASMR sorry, I commented earlier, and felt the need to remove & rewrite, because I wanted to reflect a little more on some of my conclusions… but yep, I just meant a couple where your MBTI types are each other’s shadows - like INFJ primary functions are Ni Fe Ti Se so your unconscious or “shadow” functions would be the extro vs introverted inversions of those: Ne Fi Te Si, or in other words, the ENFP’s primary functions. It’s a really good match IMO, although not as conventionally compatible or let’s say as synergistic as the subconscious type, so ESTP in your case (function order reversed: Se Ti Fe Ni). They say the subconscious functions are what we aspire towards, so we can learn a lot from a partner that embodies those, but eh… I’m not sold. I think the shadow pairing is quite beautifully complementary, and can lead to a really interesting dynamic… which I’m sure reflects your experience, based on where you guys are headed ☺️✨
lmao Alan Dershowitz was Jeffery Epstien's lawyer. not the best guy. remember watching Reversal of Fortune and thinking how funny is that the lawyer character is good at basketball
Lollll I follow nothing related to law so thanks for pointing this out to me! Also yes L O L he is good at basketball, he is desired by hot women, he is taking risks and MAKING AN IMPACT!!! They try to sabotage him but no one can touch him! Nor his legacy -- !!!!!!!!!
I’d love more of these breakdowns for future film cycles you do! I need to stay awake for the movie recommendations.
Will do! 😊
Me too:)

This was soooo fun love the rambles can't wait for the next!
Dangerous Liaisons!! Great film. Stephen Frears is an excellent director! Extremely versatile. His comedy “High Fidelity” is one of my favorites!
My partner loves High Fidelity! I like it but I think I missed the boat a bit, age-wise

Greta Gerwig has both acted and directed. Francis Ha is one of my all times favorite movies.
