Hi :) I work through the entire cardigan in panels (2 front panels, 1 back panel and 2 sleeves). For the patch like effect I just alternate between colors to create the "patches".
I decreased 11 stitches vertically and 22 stitches horizontal. But I actually measured everything my cm so it would fit more perfectly. I didn't count the stitches until after I finished my cardigan.
I didn’t record the whole process because the pattern wasn’t planned :( I was going to recount the stitches and make a written pattern but I haven’t got the time.. I will try and make it ASAP..

you have made all of the squares or rectangles that you sewn or it is a single piece by changing the colors
It's a single piece :) it's actually easier to make a single piece and changing the colors because you don't have to count everything ☺
