Gonna be coming up to DePere from Indiana on the 26th. Only ever cat fished there in the summer. Any tips you can pass along? Up river or down river from the bridge? Any help would be great.
Depending on how packed it is I would start up by the dam out from Voyageur Park if their are to many people, then I'd move down river and go out from the fox point boat launch and start looking around. I like using a small jig and 1"gulp minnows. We were getting them interested in it by pounding it on the bottom. When one was close we would bounce it on the bottom and they would fly in and be alot more aggressive. Be safe make sure to check the ice as you go good luck!
Piscifun Flame 1000 reel with 6lb ice mono and a Beaver Dam 32" noodle rod. I like using a noodle rod so I can see the really light bites you just have to jack them hard to get a good hookset
I love walleye and catch and eat a lot of them, fished the lower end of the bay in 2019 had a great time and cought several. Cook some when I got home and they were the nastiest walleye I ever ate.
I used to take a fish or two for a meal..talked to a DNR guy while they were shocking and tagging; he said that if you were concerned about contaminates, just trim out below the top of the ribcage all the way down to the tail, losing a little bit of meat, but they fried up just fine..walleye fingers..
Nice job guys! Good video
Thanks!
