It's been a number of years since we (my son Lukas and I) took your wonderful workshop in Northern Ireland ... every now and then I come back to this demonstration because it's so easy to forget how to keep things simple. It's always helpful - Thanks!
Hi Margie, how nice to hear from you. I'm so glad you remember the workshop in Newcastle and glad too that you are still trying to keep things simple. Please give my regards to Lukas.
Will do! I also see that you will be teaching in the States this summer - I doubt I'll make it to that class, but you never know! Otherwise elsewhere at some point. Great hearing back from you. @@PaintingWatercolour
Welcome to the club Krook! Mistakes and watercolour go hand in hand. As you get more experienced the proportion of messes goes down but they never go away. I have a large waste bin in the corner of my studio and it is well used! Don't give up, each mistake is a new lesson learned.
Krook, no reason to be discouraged. Even famous artists, pianists, poets and a like make mistakes when they just begin. But they loved what they doing so they study more, practiced a lot and paint, paint and paint again...and every time it was getting better and better,,,remember the old joke:"How to get in to the Carnegie Hall?" - "Practice, practice, practice...." Happy Painting!!!!
Thank you for a great vid on skies. Very helpful. Grahame could you please Sir do a vid showing how to paint simple ripples in water? I know the tube is full of such vids but none with your knack for painting and teaching behind them. Either those vids are missing some key element or I'm even more dense than I think I am.
is he scottish or irish? i'm a dork so i keep thinking of the disney movie brave "if you could change you fate, would ya?" also not to be entirely obnoxious and off topic, thanks for the tutorial, i'd never seen the blotting technique done, i'll have to try it
Are you working with your paper slanted? Are you trying too hard and over-painting it? Don't give up! You can do it - and it doesn't have to look just like anyone else's work! :) Don't. Give. Up! :)
Hi Stacey. Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I know ads can be annoying but they are there to help a little with the costs of making these videos freely available. Unfortunately I have no control over what ads are shown but I'm sorry if this reduced your enjoyment.

I have a fire starter bin! and I seem to keep making the same mistakes over and over again.. But the fire always starts well on the paper..
Honored to be learning from a fellow Booth. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion.
Great thanks - my class loved it, and it gave them great insight into how to do their own work.

Well done! That's creativity and simplicity.
Some good tips here, although I shall have to watch it again. I was too busy listening to the lovely accent. It's one of my favourites.

what brush is this?
Is it a 100% COtton paper? Tnx
No, Alessandro. It is Bockingford, which is 100% cellulose but an excellent paper and very economical compared to cotton.
can i buy one of each
what's with the ads? I don't want to see political ads on watercolor videos! Unreal. Thumbs down on the ads. Thumbs up on the tutorial!
