    I've been interested in quilling insertions for resin too, but I feared I'd slip down yet another hobby rabbit hole. I have so much invested in my hobbies of the last few years, I need to cool it for a while. This is of great interest to me, though. So lovely!

      I think it's a great way to have more control over your resin designs as well...since you can create the entire quilled piece and then embed it in resin 😊

    Turned out lovely. Admittedly, I generally hate the color pink and gold is not my favorite metallic color (I prefer the cooler range of colors in general, honestly, with the exception of some shades of red and orange) but that doesn't mean I can't see how pretty this piece turned out. Well done! 👏
    BTW, have you thought about using a simple paper shredder and construction paper for this kind of thing? Construction paper comes in quite a few colors and can be found quite cheaply in large multicolor packs, plus it's a bit sturdier than regular paper. An old fashioned paper shredder (that cuts in strips and usually cuts 5 to 20 sheets at a time (depending on model) usually isn't that expensive either, since the expensive ones are usually the ones that cross cut which isn't what you need anyway. The only drawback would be that you'd only get one size strip unless you find a shredder that can do different sizes or buy multiple shredders that each cut to different widths. Still, even with the limitations, it might be worth looking into if you're planning more projects like this. 😅

    I just started watching this video (stopped at 4:33 to type this) and fell in love with it because, I too, work with resin and Quilling! I haven't put the paper in resin yet as I researched several months ago about how to protect the paper from the resin but wasn't able to figure out how to 'seal' the paper with intricate designs. This was fantastic! Now, to watch the rest of this video. :)

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I didn't seal the paper at all, because my resin starts to cure very quickly, so it doesn't soak through the paper as much as longer curing resin. You can spray seal your paper prior to resin if you need to

    • @Kaycyd
      @Kaycyd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LiaDiaDesigns Thank you for the info. Yeah, my resin takes a spell to cure. At least 24 hours and the soaking through is my worry. I'll relook at your video to see what type of resin you said you use. I might switch just to use the Quilling I make. :)

I actually went to a Goodwill type store &bought a bunch of footed dessert bowls to use as pedestals for cake platter stands. Candle holders are a great idea also, those metal ones give a different look than the glass kind. Either/or are great! Thanks for your experiment & your wonderful ideas are very much appreciated! This is a great idea! I’ve been messing around with the lead liner paint to make stained glass looking pieces. But it’s not so easy to get nice straight lines with it. I might have to give this a try because I think you could pretty much make other shapes as well with that paper. Thank you for sharing this idea! God bless.

    Shout out to your daughter for being as talented as you!! I love this! It's gorgeous! You've inspired me to give it a try. Quick question, when you unmold the piece, do you pull off the holographic paper on the bottom or does it stay with the mold?

    • @LiaDiaDesigns
      @LiaDiaDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      🥰 thank you so much! yes! I can't believe that part of the video wasn't included (accidentally cropped the clip too short) - but yes, after removing from the mold, you peel the film off the back of the resin.
