The problem with the fast food chain restaurants is quality and price. If I spend $18 at McDonalds on a crummy burger, fries, and a medium coke, but for just a few extra bucks, I could go to a wonderful sit-down restaurant and pay $27,with tip, and feel satisfied.😂

I stood in a line to get into a big box store to grab a Black Friday item. A family in front of me talked among themselves they were buying a TV. Impatient for the store to open, the father sent kids over to a StarBucks across the parking lot to get coffee drinks. They came back with FIVE drinks and a couple of snacks. As they gulped them down, I thought, 'There goes your 'bargain price' on your TV purchase, you just spent it on coffee.'

What they don't realize about Chipotle is that it's like a treat, which is where Starbucks needs to maneuver. I hardly EVER go to any fast food anymore. The primary reason is the excessive prices! However, I do still get Chipotle once a week. It's expensive, but it's a treat and a lunch with friends. It'll be interesting to see how Starbucks tries to change. The only time I have Starbucks anymore is if I have a layover at an Airport and I want to treat myself. It's just so expensive for a drink.
My wife makes the best coffee, we use a old perculator, had it in my family for long time, makes it on the stove, can't imagine not waking up to fresh brewed coffee, I have a thermos that I never leave home without, if we want to treat ourselves, and we do sometimes, but there's no way I would spend that type of money for a cup of coffee, it's ridiculous. We occasionally treat ourselves to a dinner, even when we travel we take our thermos of coffee, and it's fresh, hot and delicious! Starbucks is just a fancy name, I tried it once with a co worker who treated me, even though I refused but she insisted, to be honest I like the coffee from street vendors in NYC rather than Starbucks, but to each his own, I prefer my wife's coffee.

@@jc6941 One of the things I liked about Starbucks is that they are mindful about their supply chain. They try to pay their bean cultivators a fair wage. They also try to make decisions that are less destructive to the environment. They also donate a lot of money to environmental organizations. Since they also pay their employees okay for fast food wages and give them all healthcare, all of this would add up and result in higher costs. But it didn't have to be this way if we elected people to the U.S. government who would fix the broken healthcare system, take away all the power from the insurance companies and big pharma, and passed laws that incentivized companies to engage in fair and environmentally sound supply chain management strategies, instead rewarding companies that cut corners in order to turn a profit. That was one of the reasons why I chose Starbucks beans to make at home (no time or interest in going to a drive-thru every day). It's not an either-or situation. But this is something that most consumers don't understand. It's extra expensive to run a business that tries to do things in an ethical way in the U.S. I mean, there are certain exceptions for other fast food places who are just jacking up the costs because they can get away with it. But if you want quality, good ethics, and employees being treated fair in the U.S, unfortunately you have to pay more for it until the government realizes they are just creating a race to the bottom.

Well, I was in the marine corps during the height of the vietnam war, 1969-1971 and spent 6 months training to use many weapons of war. I didn't end up in Vietnam, but I did experience carrying and using the weapons of war. People need to realize that going into the service requires having some expertise with the weapons of war, whether the soldiers, sailors, marines or airmen actually fire at an enemy or are just in a state of constant readiness. People need to realize that Walz put in 24 years of honorable service and could go at any minute into the heart of one of these wars. How plain ignorant civilians can be. If you know how to use an M-16 and are trained with it, you are experienced in handling the weapons of war.

It is completely fair to call out lies about your service, especially for political gain. Serving in the military does not shield you from all negative consequences of what your say and do. There was no need to exaggerate the truth, Walz service on its own is enough. Walz likely got really good training in combat arms, but never saw combat himself. There is nothing wrong with that. 24 years of service is very respectable - nothing wrong with leaving just before a war. You never know how long a deployment could be in those circumstances. At least Walz admitted he "misspoke" about his service - which is just a nicer way of saying he lied.

What they don't realize about Chipotle is that it's like a treat, which is where Starbucks needs to maneuver. I hardly EVER go to any fast food anymore. The primary reason is the excessive prices! However, I do still get Chipotle once a week. It's expensive, but it's a treat and a lunch with friends. It'll be interesting to see how Starbucks tries to change. The only time I have Starbucks anymore is if I have a layover at an Airport and I want to treat myself. It's just so expensive for a drink.

My wife makes the best coffee, we use a old perculator, had it in my family for long time, makes it on the stove, can't imagine not waking up to fresh brewed coffee, I have a thermos that I never leave home without, if we want to treat ourselves, and we do sometimes, but there's no way I would spend that type of money for a cup of coffee, it's ridiculous. We occasionally treat ourselves to a dinner, even when we travel we take our thermos of coffee, and it's fresh, hot and delicious! Starbucks is just a fancy name, I tried it once with a co worker who treated me, even though I refused but she insisted, to be honest I like the coffee from street vendors in NYC rather than Starbucks, but to each his own, I prefer my wife's coffee.

@@jc6941 One of the things I liked about Starbucks is that they are mindful about their supply chain. They try to pay their bean cultivators a fair wage. They also try to make decisions that are less destructive to the environment. They also donate a lot of money to environmental organizations. Since they also pay their employees okay for fast food wages and give them all healthcare, all of this would add up and result in higher costs. But it didn't have to be this way if we elected people to the U.S. government who would fix the broken healthcare system, take away all the power from the insurance companies and big pharma, and passed laws that incentivized companies to engage in fair and environmentally sound supply chain management strategies, instead rewarding companies that cut corners in order to turn a profit. That was one of the reasons why I chose Starbucks beans to make at home (no time or interest in going to a drive-thru every day). It's not an either-or situation. But this is something that most consumers don't understand. It's extra expensive to run a business that tries to do things in an ethical way in the U.S. I mean, there are certain exceptions for other fast food places who are just jacking up the costs because they can get away with it. But if you want quality, good ethics, and employees being treated fair in the U.S, unfortunately you have to pay more for it until the government realizes they are just creating a race to the bottom.

I just gotta say, your reproduction system is NOT your "womanhood". I had a total hysterectomy and I'm still a woman. People need to realize that going into the service requires having some expertise with the weapons of war, whether the soldiers, sailors, marines or airmen actually fire at an enemy or are just in a state of constant readiness. People need to realize that Walz put in 24 years of honorable service and could go at any minute into the heart of one of these wars. How plain ignorant civilians can be. If you know how to use an M-16 and are trained with it, you are experienced in handling the weapons of war.

It is completely fair to call out lies about your service, especially for political gain. Serving in the military does not shield you from all negative consequences of what your say and do. There was no need to exaggerate the truth, Walz service on its own is enough. Walz likely got really good training in combat arms, but never saw combat himself. There is nothing wrong with that. 24 years of service is very respectable - nothing wrong with leaving just before a war. You never know how long a deployment could be in those circumstances. At least Walz admitted he "misspoke" about his service - which is just a nicer way of saying he lied.
If he had said "wartime" instead of "war" it would have been 100% OK as far as I can see... though I disagree about his gun control point itself.
