As the desire intensifies, just observe your mind so intensely, like a hawk.. and you'll notice you don't actually desire it anymore, the flesh isn't more powerful than the spirit. Align with Christ, and allow Christ into your heart and ask for God to allow this temptation to pass. God helps those who help themselves, the balls in your court. Peace to all beings.
Jesus himself said that the flesh is weak but the spirit is willing meaning that flesh is strong and God is literally the only one that can get us into heaven. Yes we exercise free will over our mind to control our mind and will but God is the helper of those WHO CANNOT help themselves. He hates pride let him be more and I be less. I understand your intent to help but we must be discerning for we struggle with that sinful flesh, others struggle with certain besetting sins because our hearts are still deceitfully wicked, so we must watch that we don’t tempt our brothers and sisters who struggle with that.
