In architecture school we are taught to talk about architecture in a certain way so that its universally understood among architects because there is so much thought and detail out into every single aspect of a design. So, we have words and phrases that we use to quickly and easily communicate our ideas between designers because most of the time it's a team designing something and not just one person. There is a little trouble when you get so stuck speaking in a certain way because you spend so much time on these designs. If the architects aren't interacting with normal everyday people regularly about their designs, it does become pretty hard to explain very complicated concepts to them. This is why these architects are talking the way that they do. They are just simply trying to explain themselves as quickly as possible because their mind is working faster than their mouth is at this point.
@@CiPp35 Oh I know LOL, I was just saying they would be great at creating the architecture they want and it's more realistic than legos. It would also be cool to see what architects and interior designers working together to create a house. Building is such a big part of the Sims and so many people (including myself) watch people on YT that do house builds. So, if the real people did it, I would be really interested and I'd love to hear their ideas 😊.
Shot Down firstly I don’t know you so the term “home boy” would not apply to you as that person must be a friend. Secondly it makes perfect sense if you didn’t understand all you had to do was ask. Architects build buildings Sims doesn’t require you to build anything as everything is placed for you or built by the sim in a way that is hard coded into the game. You make ZERO design decisions that involve structure. That’s what architects do. The sims is better for an interior designer to play.
For the love of god can we get “architects build their dream homes in sims” and then a follow up of “interior decorators decorate their dream home on sims “
I would suggest Interior Designers instead of interior decorators. Interior Designers actually went to school and got formal training, while interior decorators can be anyone.
I currently take architectural design at my high school and I can really agree with everything that they said. Even with all the constraints you’re given in every client’s request, you still have to be creative with what you’ve got.
I really love how Francis designed his house, not only for the result, but because he used the lego people to measure the volume of the house... I'm studying architecture and honestly think anthropometry is the most important part of design, thinking of who is gonna live the space and how are they gonna live it.
Ok so the guy actually built a house and explained where other elements would go, the two women built empty structures and said “this is where things would go” 😂
Tattooed Dad Their houses weren't "empty". I think they did this because women are more in tuned with what makes a home vs men focuses on what a home is made of. The women know that there's more to a home than a room, their designs are very symbolic and still have rooms, just not traditional rooms. They all built full structural homes with " rooms", they focused on different aspects of a home.
@A9je What an absurd and simple-minded thing to say-as if watching someone fiddle about with plastic toys for 5 minutes is *any* sort of indication of their training, competence, or experience. smh. You don't get to have an opinion until you've seen their actual portfolios, and even then it probably wouldn't be a fully informed opinion.
as an interior designer i appreciate all the points they were making about being creative with the restrictions given to you. its a BIG struggle to work around. i also wish they got more time to create more elaborate and detailed houses.
Roselline Xavier i know zaha lol may i remind you again that they are using a lego which limits shape and form they are not using autocad or sketchup. Lol
The thing is, architects dont care if you think their designs are "out of the box". What architects care about is that their designs serve their purpose. What the client wants and needs and what will be safe for them. It's all about making people lives better, if it needs to be something different from what people see as normal then that's fine as long as it can be safe. Architects main focus are people, and making sure that everything will work for the people that are going to be using the space. There's not a lot of stuff that is "out of the box" when it comes to what people need to live their lives.
I wanna be an architect, and seeing videos like this really helps me see more than one point of view on how the job works and what architects think like. All I know about the job of an architect comes from my uncle who works as one, so this really helped see into it a bit differently
The guy is the only that made something that actually looked like it could be a house, but that library concept is very very interesting. Would love to see her actually draw that up.
As a student studying architecture, this might be boring to alot of people but what they created was their own kind of "fun". Maybe because I'm not yet an architect (hopefully I become one) being playful like maybe adding a fire pole or a slide as stairs in a house wouldve been cool! Being mature is boring
Francis had the best thought out house by far. He took into consideration colour tones, open spaces axis, structure and peoples experience. Aman's house was pretty standard with the big glass door looking onto the sea and the full length library corridor, really?..felt she made something and then randomly looked for a story line ...Christine's simple form concept is good, and the use of colour and simplicity, but i wish she would have completed a bit more of the house.
Everything seems professional when a person that has a profession at it does it, even if its a toy. I always built legos without a thought, but they actually have a plan LOL
"this is a place where we share our library ... that's a place where I experience it only by myself no one really is allowed to go in there" honestly me too
I literally used LEGO in my fourth year of architecture school for massing models since it’s so quick and easy to build and you can use different colours for different areas. They let me into my masters this year so it couldn’t have been that weird:P
So, as they were talking, I thought the guy was kind of strange. However, as I saw their creations, his is the only one that I might recognize as a house. They're all creative, though.
Have they....ever played with Legos in their life?? I hope their excuse is that they're junior levels. Francis though, nice job. Clear and concise, and even looks nice.
Really cool video, I could watch hours of this if they had more legos. I'm very curious to know what kind of places they would like to design if they had unlimited freedom and no budget!
Wow, my 9 year old son can make a much more detailed house out of lego than these architects, i feel that none of them have ever played with Lego in their lives
Those women sucked. The monochromatic girl was too afraid to add color because it would be outside her comfort zone and add any amount of visual interest to the piece, not that that matters much because it was just a square block. Good job sweetie, you tried. Go pin it on the fridge. The yellow library woman just made a wall with some holes in it and a large empty space. Is it a loft with a she shed on the side? There's no kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, nothing. Maybe the black thing is a garage? The dude started off with some monochromatic, but even then added some visual interest to it breaking up the straight lines somewhat, then added in other features like nested windows for a more open space while still having sections of the house. He also added in color to pop and contrast against the black and white. Looked like an amount of thought process went into it rather than making a white square or a yellow wall with some holes in it.
