Well, I'm glad no one at all cares about your opinion and they keep making their beautiful music. I've seen them live this summer and it was so moving I felt like I was melting while dancing all the time. I almost cried at "Glass Jar" (somewhere around 38:45, when the song really kicks off after the hypnotizing intro). If you can't hear the beauty of it, I feel sorry for you.
I imagine it will happen, when Brian DeGraw was doing interviews in 2014 for his solo project he said they definitely had plans, and that they would either be going back to the original improv style or some 'future' style akin to Eye Contact.
You might be right, that being high enhances the listening experience, but I don't use drugs (except for some mild anti-depressants :P) and I find this music captivating. The arrangements are complex, sophisticated and sensual.
LOL at everybody hating on the singer. I heard some GGD way back before she joined and it was super forgettable. Hadn’t listened in years but heard a few tracks on Russian Doll and stuck out enough to have me look up who it was. As someone who has played in experimental Rock circles NOBODY ever wants to sing but bands don’t get far without one.
song at 21:13 is the first transitioning into a hippie after you just banged the squeegee girl with weird hair.. drumming is you now living the life! meeting all the people with a new attitude and its sort of exciting.. then you really start grooving but you're still trapped into thinking "how am I gonna quit my life and live with these people?" ... then the chants of the squeegee goddess run in your head to keep you tribally attached to the need of hanging with the musical squeegee people living downtown sharing their apples.. its like a real resignation of spirit, washing away the impurities of societies judgments? like when you're like "fuck this, I deserve REAL INTENSE happiness" and its like "fuck this!" 'NO!!!!' "I MUST LIVE!!" lol.. really good band and its good not to watch them play. writing this helps. I suggest you create the world their offering.. I mean I don't think the set is all about a guy who was a square who just rolled with feeling accepted by the buskers/ musicians at the local city park, but it works for me.. the weird shit at like 30:50 is the second transition into realizing more about yourself since you started paying attention to what your heart and soul wants. Music, with the people!
this is a squeegee hippie day in the life.. the beginning part feels like a montage of them trying to work all day, saying "love up! thanks friend!" then at 3:20 is when they spot their squeegee lover from 2 blocks down.. Im only at around 6 minutes into this and the comments near me have me expecting to dislike her voice but I listen to Blonde Redhead a lot so I (a guy) enjoy "singing" like this to beats on a phone app.. now I'm into the second song. sounds like squeegee people made music on a casio and people kept giving them more and more equipment. in the second song with that scream whistle, they should have just made the sound go from side to side. thats my only issue with the band.. its all panned dead centre I feel, like mono? I don't know enough to really make that remark but they have an antibalas kind of jam feeling at this point, so her screaming is basically the lead guitar. This band sounds like themselves but they're for sure making me feel like I tried WAYY too hard to be happy and act freely and by the 15 minute mark I'm crawling in mud crying at the universe.. It's like art that hurts you in the soul then turns you onto what would have been torture if you didnt actually try to go down on this bands netherbeenlands.. Im now evolved at 18:30.. Getting laid but feeling accepted too! full blown day in the life of the parks downtown when nobody gets hurt and everyones happy and going to the drum festival in the park with fire breathers.. THERES 25 MINUTES LEFT!!! Ill review the second half soon.. lol they sold me!
Is it true that the late Benjamin Lo-Fi made Welsh rarebit for the band during the recording of this dainty delight? We here at the Foundation like BLF a lot, because of his music, not just his cheese on toast...
@citrusrapture: C'mon no one would take advice from a strung out fan of shitty, mediocre folk revival. At least this group has energy, iron and wine has the vigor of a street performer
I love the music, but the vocals just kills it for me, at 4 minutes in I literally had to take some pause. Which is a shame because the instrumentals are really well thought out. the Vocals at 10-11 minutes fits in really well and is perfectly in tune with the atmosphere but the high pitched squealing that keeps reappearing kind of just detracts from the overall feel of the songs. Some great stuff going on here though, really original. You gotta push things to find out if they work I guess! It's close to working for me. :)
I gotta tell you.. this singer is one of the worst I've ever heard.. it's like I fell asleep and in my dream Yoko and Bjork had a baby girl.. but it turned out to be real.. and this is the result
Great music, but the singer needs to be removed. This band would be so much more amazing without her muffled sounds of a dying cat playing over it. Seriously I hope since this was recorded the band wised up and gave her the boot.
+beanwithbacon this has its own beautiful vibe, if you want perfect sonic clarity and tone go listen to Charlottle Martin, who is also great for who she is.
It brought me here right after I watched the Iron and Wine 4AD session. This couldn't possibly be more opposite, and terrible. WTF is this shit?! Other than the mediocre drum beat this has nothing to qualify it as music. You could argue that it's a sound collage maybe, but it's still a terrible one. My god the more it plays as I type this the worse it gets, it's like an aural trainwreck. Please for the love of god, no one pay them for this or they'll just keep making more.
I can hear everything. It's everything time.
Alex v
one of the most original sounding band of recent years to me, this session is pretty interestin too
She's most of what makes this Gang Gang Dance and not something else.
4AD...Where do they find talents? This record label never ceases to amaze.
the drummer is unbelievably good
That’s my bro -in-law! He is indeed incredible. His brother is the drummer for Let’s Go Bowling. 😁
@@jennifersoria1804 thats too much skills in 1 family
@@NWforager seriously!!
glass jar goes hard
I really like how the stage is different for each band with these 4AD sessions and is designed to suit each unique musical act..
I KEEP COMMING BACK TO THAT EVERY DAY

perfect in every possible way...beautiful voice
Love your sounds. You are real artists and specifically real musicians.
agree 100%
Amazing! Love it all.
I'd buy this live album
Seriously though just waiting on the next GGD album
I imagine it will happen, when Brian DeGraw was doing interviews in 2014 for his solo project he said they definitely had plans, and that they would either be going back to the original improv style or some 'future' style akin to Eye Contact.
I need like one every month
Outstanding.
He's definitely not random. He takes part in their live performances as well. I think he may be the key to their musical success.
This is what Yoko Ono wishes she sounds like
fantastic, have only seen glass jar from a different camera
amazing!
いいですなぁ~
Este viernes en la Cd. de México en el teatro Fru Fru :D
Amazing performance! Fuck the haters, this is incredible! There's a reason Animal Collective love them.
To everyone bad mouthing their angel of a lead singer, I will destroy you.

So weird but so good

Holy Shit
triax33 she sounds great on the album though.
listening on beyerdynamic dt990pro :)... glass jar for like 3rd time
I freaking adore GGD. Amazing. Her voice and the instrumentals ... There's nothing else like it out there. It really transcends reality.
Leah Cotton ,

Pretty sure they've been to some Guitarrada in Belém do Pará
I do not understand your comment, what do you mean?. Only for curiosity.
Ah ah ah, de certeza, com maconhada ;)
What he mean is that they might have been to a Festival in Belem do Para (Brasil), a festival is named ´´guitarrada´´
voce tem certeza....

It might be a shocker but you know with some artists they have songs that sound different. Sometimes track 1 sucks and the rest is good.
The random groupie dude makes me feel uncomfortable :/
Romance Lyers :/
I gotta tell you.. this singer is one of the worst I've ever heard.. it's like I fell asleep and in my dream Yoko and Bjork had a baby girl.. but it turned out to be real.. and this is the result
very bad
Nawh just u
Musicians need to ditch her!!

Will Powers Agree to disagree, the singer in this case is take a lot away from the rest of the music, she doesn't' sound like she belongs with them.
The singer knows how to fly yo
Bradley Pate Get your ears examined dude, she sounds like a shitty Yoko Ono impersonator.
+beanwithbacon yoko ono is the best
She is ruining the music. The band can be a stand alone instrumental band. They don't need her. She makes me feel very violent.
