"Petrosian was a phenomenal blitz player. He would eagerly enter into complications he wouldn't dare to enter in serious games. He would find way out of forests of tactical confusions displaying great virtuosity. When you see him play blitz like this, you realize how phenomenal a talent he was" - Jan Timman (best of the west in the 80s :))
iCancrizans Tigran had a great record throughout his career not just in blitz. In the 1970's he taught Karpov a lesson in positional chess. He also beat Kasparov twice in the early 1980's. One player "duffed him up" twice in matches = Fischer. Also Fischer "put him to the sword" at bliz in 1970. Of course Fischer was a monster between 1967-72 at normal and blitz chess.
@@matheo1231 he was specifically called in to play with 17 year old Bobby when he was visiting Moscow and demanding to play the World champion botvinnik... He defeated him int hose games then, but then Bobby Fischer grew in stature 😂
Love those old school Soviet chessmen. So distinctive with the contrasting finial caps. Adore playing with my own knockoff, incomparable to the original one sees here.
Awesome material, it's always fascinating to see different generation chess players. And Vaganian was very interesting player, actually he didn't calculating much, he was very intuitive player with a lot of creative ideas. And I am not talking only about his awesome game with Kupreichik :)
Somebody PLEASE translate this. I'd love to know what "Iron Tigran" is saying to Vaganian while they're playing blitz; it's easy to tell Petrosian's having fun, alright.
+LarryRickenbacker yes, he makes jokes about Vagnian, they are a bit picky like "look at him , what a bird" or "ppl, tell me why this young man was piffling" but are not really meant to hurt him but to put spice in the game.

I always watch these with the sound off because I think they know what they are saying anyway but another reason is because I don't own a chess set. The chess set that I want used to cost $35 + tax but then I bought one and all of a sudden it sold out so I called them, on the phone, and they said they would be 'getting more in' and even though I knew that whoever it was that I was talking too just couldn't tell me for whatever reason that they had made a mistake I decided that since I'm in The United States of America that I would wait and still even though the picture and price remained on the website no chess set ever did show back up as being in stock although, curiously, then it did show up on another website for about $150 dollars but still I didn't buy one because I knew that eventually someone would have bought one and realized that they had a job to go to or kids to have or whatever and I would eventually just get one on ebay for whatever price but I guess the chess set that I want has really just ceased to exist maybe here in the land of 'The Customer is Always Right' or actually (judging by ebay) I guess maybe even worldwide, and so my name is Michael J Kendrick my address is 309 Harvey Dr, Woodway, Tx 76712-3326 and I own probably $100,000 worth of chess stuff, but no chess set, although it does feel good to be a trendsetter. Such a great historical video!
Thank you very much
karpov is also an holder of a degree in economics.A very bright and gentle man.
Priceless footage. Karpov seemed to have been annoyed with Furman. 😊
Nice to see a film of Petrosian. The man looked like a character.
It looks like it was the cigarette smoke that bothered Karpov.
@@comic4relief But Furman just had to take in one more puff after that and before he put the cigarette out. Deplorable habit.
Iron Tigran was virtually unbeatable in blitz, particularly in the early 1960s

Petrosian, the very first trash talker in history 😂 ... My respects to such a great player.
Priceless video indeed.Vaganian and Furman were strong grandmasters,Karpov and Petrosian were kind of geniuses and are chess legends.
Karpov's reaction @ 1:06
Yup. Get that **** away from me. Lol

outstanding yaar thankyou so much for this great contribution
yes he don't like cigarette smoke
@@valery3338 Not many people do:
pay attention to a guy who's watching the game. This is S. Furman, Karpov's coach.
Karpov, Vaganyan and Furman. No Petrosyan until later.
Interesting black and white video. It's historic. Greetings from the Chess Lab. Laboratorio de Ajedrez

Petrosian trolling
Perhaps when all work is being done by AI robots, we will sit around all day and play chess.
Too bad we couldn’t see the board.
Ahead of his time....banter blitz!

I don't think so, the top of the King and the Knight are too way different

Karpov DOMINATED chess from 1975 - 85. And was as good as kasparov in later years.
What are you saying? Karpov is one of the legends of chess. Particularly positional chess.
und nur nebenbei gesagt, sein Gegner ist nicht T. Petrosjan (Ex-WM)! gehaltlos der Mist
