I liked your video, however, I think they are equipment for different functions. The main function of the Shoulder Rig is to convey the sensation of the human gaze. As if you were present at the scene watching. That's why it's not completely static. The gimbal is used to create movement. The most correct comparison would be a gimbal and a steadicam.
I came here to learn the difference between the two but ended up learning a lot more on how different camera angles could be used in storytelling. This was so much fun to watch! I think the shoulder rig would probably work well in a horror setting maybe? Like when someone or something is chasing after you.
@@cigarcitysoundz6938 looked like a pocket 4K to me, but couldn’t really tell on my phone. If so, I agree - I own one and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
How has this not got any comments! Really helpful for a newb, not just in seeing the difference between the options, but also helping to understand the different types of shots. Thank you guys.
Thank you for showcasing both. I actually enjoy the story telling of a natural shake and what it can emote when using a handheld or shoulder rig. By the way the rig is meant to carry a counter balance to get more of a natural balance. I think depending of your story telling gimbal, shoulder rig, handheld ect is really up to you. Add the counter weight and it’ll add much more balance to make a more accurate comparison. Well done !
Totally unbiased video🙄 nice graded in focus and wide aperture shots with the gimbal but foolish nonsensical shots with the shoulder rig. It’s fair enough that you are biased but try to make an objective video at least🤷♂️
The different in focal lengths further exaggerate the differences in movement.

2:19 i felt like gimbal Shows you the story, shoulder rig brings you in the story!

I can't help but feel that less care was used with the shoulder rig.
That and the other camera clearly outshines the one that was on the shoulder rig.

yeah this video seems biased
Definitely lol. They could’ve at least gave the shoulder rig the better camera just to even out the playing field a bit lol.

good job thanks for the information
Damn you guys just confirmed that I have no choice but to spend a lot of money 😭😂
Brilliant. Exactly the type of comparison I needed.
Thanks for this video. Helped me decide to get a gimbal for my Lumix G85.
This is the best comparison video on TH-cam
Most helpful. Where are all the likes you deserve???!
"Lets compare this racing motorbike against my daughters skateboard, and see how they perform"
Thanks a lot guys. Really enjoyed this one, and learned a lot too. How’s tricks? My grandma used to say that. Please make another video.
This is so helpful, i was really trying to figure out which one to buy(i'm a newb in the video world) and this helped so much !
if you're a newb then i'd suggest not using anything yet and learn just with your camera first
how do you manage the focus when bmpc on gimbal
They used a follow focus which you rotate from the gimbal, it's wireless
If you work around client/agency then you know the 6 movements are Pan, Pan, Pan, Pan, Pan and of course everyone's favorite...Pan
Great comparison, thanks!
I bet the shoulder rig won't be able to handle any low-to-the-ground shot😁Fun to watch anyway.
thanks for the video!

plus, that rig....sucks. If you compare a good gimbal just compare it to a good shoulder rig. that one doesnt even seat in the shoulder
Almost unbieased...
Damn the gimbal fucked the shoulder rig UP. Thanks for the video!
bro sucks at focus tho xp
shots with gimbal looking all terrible and cheesy
