    Been enjoying my 2017 Titan for over a year now and it's the best truck for me. I got out of a 2014 Silverado for it and I have completely forgotten about that boring Silverado. Ive gone mudding and still haven't gotten stuck. Go Nissan!!

    Here's my experience. It's different not everyone has one of these like the American trucks. It's very reliable it's near the same 5.6 from the old Titans which were known to almost never go out hence "endurance v8". The truck is solid feeling. The exhaust sounds very nice stock. The design overall is very cool with the front taken from a warriors Helmet. The best mpg I get is set a 23mpg which is quite good compared to the old like 13mpg. The truck feels like it's got a lot of muscle and power in reserve. No issues whatsoever. The screen is kinda small compared to other trucks but I don't care because my old truck didn't even have a screen so this 7in screen is great for me. While it was expensive I got my pro 4x here brand new for 41k US dollars which really isn't that bad. Overall it's a great truck and I love it.

    I own 18 Titan SV. I love the overall package. Not a lot bullshit options that I'll never use. My favorite thing about the truck is the 5.6 engine. Very easy to work on. No cylinder deactivation. No small engine. push the crap out of it with turbos. It pulls my 5k camper through the Rockies like a champ! I tend to be a firm believer in less is better.

    Great video...You're an awesome speaker. I now drive a 2006 Titan SE that I really love. It's never failed me and tows our RV trailer, 4,700 pound flawlessly. Best part is that it's paid off! I've only 87,000 miles on because it really is a gas hog. Your video...really makes me want to trade it in for a 2017. Thanks for a great review. Maybe the prices have gone down some since.

    I'm a titan owner since 2005, first truck was 5.6 king cab LE, now 2016 xd pro 4X diesel luxury. Improvement on the nav screen and for me the seeting are not really the best... i get a sore back driving mine ! Couldn't live without the utility track system and factory sprayed liner. Only drawback are the dealerships are horrible, especially the Sudbury Ont. Dealership, i'm also in the market the buy an SUV in the next 3 to 4 months, but will not consider Nissan because of this.
    Great review

    I had the previous version of the Titan since 2011 and had very few issues with it, no warranty claims until recently and that was emissions related and covered. First off the fuel economy of my new truck is a lot better than the old and on par with Ford and Gm V8 motors in the 350 plus HP class. The ride is far better than any chev on semi rough surfaces and the resale will be more. To those who love their Fords, know this, I would have prefered to own a Ford but the thought of having paint blistering off a newer truck kept me from committing and we all know how paint quality affects resale. I don't know where the idea that the Titan is expensive came from but I priced a FX4 with similar options and the difference was minimal. In fact with my trade of the 2011 Titan and incentives that Nissan had resulted in the Titan being 9k cheaper than the Ford Fx4 out the door. Did I mention 5 year bumper to bumper? Far superior truck to old Titan except for underseat storage compartment, I like a flat rear floor. Great review FW

    Great review! I own a Gen 1 Titan, and to be honest I will likely not be buying a Gen 2 Titan for one reason, no sunroof. It's a huge oversight and while I am happy to hear they said it's coming, I may not be able to wait. Of all the reviews of this truck I have watched I would say this one is either a tie for number 1, or close #2. Awesome work!

    I actually quite dislike when manufacturers include the climate control into the infotainment system. I want buttons and knobs, especially when your hands are cold they are a lot more user friendly.

    • @FamilyWheels

    Great review. Just picked up a titan xd PR. Replacing a f250 platinum diesel. In terms of family use way better. In terms of fuel economy way better, 13.8L/100km @ 110km/hr. But ergonomics suffer. The drivers side temp control is behind the shifter when in drive. The infotainment system doesn't seem to allow for verbal temp control. To the best of my knowledge doesn't have auto temp control. Transmission at low rpm is lazy. I actually thought I was breaking down going up a hill but was just a lazy shift. On slow moving hilly road the transmission would shift eratically and mad my wife feel slightly car sick. On the other side great on the hwy. I only post this so others like me will see. Again, great review. I will subscribe

    Rumour has it, Nissan is doing a quick mid season front fascia change for this truck? Any news from the inside on the that? I understand they don't wanna talk about it, as they want to sell whats on the lot, but I'd be super po'd if I buy one (currently looking) then have them change the front end to something a bit more palatable. I do like the truck, drove one, and when compared to the Gm 5.3 which is also in the running, the Titan won hands down power wise. But the front hasn't sold me 100%.

    I love your reviews...thank you! I would love to have these reviews comment on the headrests, or lack of head rests in the center seats. Only Toyota and Ford have head rests in the front middle seats. Several manufactures, like Nissan and GM are lacking head rests in even the center middle rear seats, which is a huge safety concern for those of us with larger families that need to use this seat for our children.

    Also, King Cab is not larger than the Crew Cab you reviewed. King Cab is Nissan equivalent to Ford's Supercab with the backwards swinging door. Dumb naming scheme by someone at Nissan.

    I wish they would put more power in the truck. Especially considering how much more physically larger it is than most other other 3/4 and 1/2 ton trucks. I'm also not a fan of electronic push start, and would like them to include the option to continue using a key. After all, more electronic components usually means more issues to worry about down the road.

      @@djayt1215 Okay. Allow me to be more precise in my statement, to appease your sense of anal retention. Yes, all start systems are electrical in nature, in that they use components to initiate a charge to get things going. However, what I do not like is the integration of more "tech" components, which lead to greater/faster wear, when a mechanical option such as a turn key would last longer.

Plan to have a pop up truck camper and want the truck as a daily driver and to fit in my garage. Most all 250/2500s can't check those boxes. I have had my 2017 Pro4x for about two weeks and love it. A few things that I would have done differently would be: mover the 2wd to 4wd switch. Its right at your knee and if you are on a bumpy road it tends to hit you on the side of your knee. You would think they would put running boarding on all the 4x4's? It does not have them. It a gas hog - I had the Armada before this and they all seem to do poorly with fuel economy. Other than that its a beast, it sounds incredible and I have gotten many comments from Tundra and Ford F 150 owners that its a great looking truck. I have not taken it off road yet but I am sure it will do just fine. Very good torque, handles very well for a 4x4.

    I have a 2017 SV. I love this truck but there are a couple things that bug me. When in drive, the shifter blocks the view of the mirror heat and rear defroster buttons. The mirrors imho, should have been pushed forward slightly and mounted at 90 degrees instead of slightly angled to the rear. The convex mirrors are too small and almost worthless and the extendable mirrors should extend further. I do not have good views when pulling my camper. I also think the rear doors should open to 90 degrees like my old Dakota. Large items are tricky to get in and out. I also am not a huge fan of the 2:93 rear end. I know they did it for fuel mileage but my fuel mileage isnt that impressive anyway.

    I'm a F150 owner, 2016 Lariat, while Ford clearly blows the Titan away, you are totally right that the new offer from Nissan has come a long way. Front end design for the Titan is sub par and needs work. The interior is decent and your review covered that well, looked like a nice ride with the rear non flat load floor being a disapointment. While I love a V8, I way prefer a twin turbo V6, one of the reasons being as I do live in Quebec and we get frapped by the registration/license bureau with an annual engine displacement penalty, add that unfair nonsense tax grab by the government and after 5 years it amounts to a signficant amount that would have paid for a lot of fuel, so a 5.7L V8 gets punished here in Quebec. Good review and good start by Nissan but they clearly need to improve their looks and fix some deficiencies in the interior.

    I am really disappointed Nissan did away with the Center Console shifter. Did you ask the engineers or spokesperson as to why they went back in history with the shifter on the steering column ?

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I didn't think of asking this Mark-Anthony. I imagine they opted to do it so there'd be more storage in the centre console. Not a fan?

      Family Wheels Center console shifters are for cars. Column shifters are for trucks and men not girly men like that guy above.

    • @SterlingLikeTheSylvr
      @SterlingLikeTheSylvr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Column shifters are what make a truck, A TRUCK. If you want a console shifter, buy a effing Toyota. *insert eye roll here*

    • @Bru946
      @Bru946 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Thomas A console shifter is more useful when you need to gear down. Here in the mountains I'd rather just move it like a stick than have to do the stupid plus and minus buttons on the column. Even the most "manly" trucks like the Ford f150 Raptor have them in the console because you have more control and ease of effort.

    • @davec.3198
      @davec.3198 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't understand this comment. You remove the center console shifter put it on the column and now you have a console so big you can put a laptop in in. Friggen awesome.

    With the Platinum version do not like the interior seating color combo. They should off the beige leather as is available in the SL version. And the price is way out of whack. $57k? Nope.

      I found it to be pretty tight. And I mean, really, at this point you might as well call this an American truck, too. It was conceptualised, designed and built in the states - just like the Big 3.

    The pricing on these are just Flacking Stupid. 65grand will get you the same model in a diesel without the luxury package. IMO this truck with leather should be tops 55-57k. Trucks these days are way over priced. Right now I saw a diesel with leather, 14k discount for 51or 52k. after discounts, this is a 48k truck, cuz u know chev/ford all do hefty discounts. I heard in Canada, back up Cameras are to be standard as mandated by law.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the sticker shock I get whenever I do a truck review is pretty solid these days! As for your back-up camera question, any vehicle after May 2018 will be required to have one... which is great news for something this big.

  • @xXBurntBaconXx
    @xXBurntBaconXx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I feel like this truck doesn't have anything that sets it apart from the others.
    The Ford has those amazing ecoboost engines, the most towing and payload
    Ram has the Ecodiesel, air suspension, coil suspension, and ram boxes to set it apart.
    GM Has the most powerful engine option, mechanically very simple, dependable drive-train, the most fuel efficient V8s, and towing/payload that rivals the Ford.
    Toyota has their incredibly dependable workhorse engines that can take a shitton of abuse. Even from day 1 they hardly had any problems. Most people say "Don't buy the first model year of a new generation truck/car as they are unreliable" but Toyota proved them wrong.
    If they gave this something else, like a really great infotainment system (like Andoird Auto), or really amazing off road credentials, or maybe even a full on IRS. Just something to set it apart from the other trucks. None of the technology on it is new or innovating.

    Nissan will need to have lower priced models to crack this market
    1/2 ton pickup crew cab models start at 31,000 $ Nissan Titan only starts at 46,000 for a comparable model They are cutting themselves out of the main event They may get sales but it will not be many compared to GM FORD or Ram IT is a shame since the Titan is a nice truck Since Ford F150 is all aluminum 1.2 ton and you can get a nice truck for 42,000 dollars Nissan Titans are nice but rusty crusty steel can't compete with all aluminum Nissan should have used Aluminum body and floor
    Perhaps they have learned and the next Frontier comes with the 21st century vehicle material. Titans are flinty compared to the Ford F150 and feeble compared to the GM 1500 models The Titans are nice but lack in the most important areas. Longevity and value .this is why Titan will languish.

    • @Kingsoupturbo
      @Kingsoupturbo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its tough they are going for such a high Advertised MSRP to start. I don't know what they'll be changing hands for in person, maybe the same as a F150. I appreciate the previous Titan was very reliable and a class leader for many years, but its a tough world in Truck land. That being said a very limited selection of 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks out there from Japanese, I'd like to see some Nissan build quality advertisement on why this is better then a Ram\Ford. Good review, I personally think they're really nice looking trucks and its great to have more options out there in the Full size market!

    What a beautiful truck but the MPG just like Toyota is terrible in the V8 and Diesel. Even a FORD 3.5 Ecoboost gets better MPG. Nissan's diesel should have at least 25 MPG cause if you look back to FORD and GM in the 80's with 500 ft lb of torque they had 30 mpg's for 500 ft lb of torque. A 3.5 liter Diesel that they offer in Asia would be a better choice. A "C" class RV gets 10-15 mpg and thats a camper.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, Stephen. Nissan says you should see 11-15 l/100 kms out of this truck but we were doing a little towing, a little offroading, the terrain is pretty hilly around that area of Quebec... and the result was an average of 16. But it sure had a great V8 sound when you put your foot down!

      Family Wheels Oh it sounds wonderful, my neighbor bought one a month ago and it has sparked my interest. But for me I need a regular cab or a extended cab (I'm disabled & not just upstairs like the wife says I am either) I have a wheelchair that I have to either throw behind my seat or in the back bed. Yes I know its tall but I'm 6'4" on my right leg and 5'4" on my left leg. I haven't seen the reg cab yet locally but I hear its coming soon. I'll wait for it and maybe the V6 cause with my GM getting 10 l/klm for the 5.3 L I can't seem to go lower in mpg especially here with all these hills or Mountains as Albertans call them. My friend gets 16 L/Klm but we live on the upper level of Campbell River and its a 20 degree climb... sucks the needle empty.

    on Saskatchewan freeways/highways best iv gotten so far was 11L/100k and I think that's pretty ok for a big 4x4 but more consistently gets12-12.5L. got a little over 15k kms on and mines the SV and its got normal tires. short trips are what's kills my mileage but from fill up i can get anywhere from 560-640km a tank with about 70% city driving. but in winter its closer to 470-520 depending on how often use 4x4 or how long you let it warm up. damn February this year was colder than -32c for 30 some days in a row. never plugged it in even on days when it was -50, she started but the engine light comes on and goes away when it warms up
