Hub gears do tend to be much more reliable. The old Sturmey Archer is proof of that, and then on the high end, Rohloff is well known as THE most reliable gearing around.
Thank you for this review, well covered. Would be nice if you guys start stating: 1. Who is the manufacturer of the motor (like you did with the battery) 2. What is the real-world range of the battery than the factory specs (which we know do not represent the real-world) Albeit great to have a competition for further innovation and price reduction, still way too pricey. It is for customers to take on the risk considering it is only a 4 year old company and still has high chances of collapse in the near future. Then customers are left with these e-bikes with no support and very few places willing to service them/fix. Especially the motor if made by the same company, who is going to fix that if something goes wrong? Look at what happened to Vanmoof bikes, and they had raised over EUR180mil with investors...

Gr8 review! I was interested in the gocycle until I watched Marky Mark's video of his new G4i, he demonstrates a horrific noise coming from the rear hub gear system and even although the bike was returned with the noise somewhat reduced, there's still noise and a premium bike at £4k should be silent. I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues??
Ooh thats a nice little bike, isnt it? I was thinking the fatter tyres would give it the advantage over a Brompton... that and the rear suspension sound like a comfy ride. I've got a 20 inch wheel folder but its a bit heavy for me to lift in and out the car now. The thing it has got in its favour over this one is a rear rack which makes it more of a daily shopper. All I need now is a windfall cos that price tag is more than i can manage, really like it though.👍
I've been riding this bike for nearly 2 years now and twice had problems with the planetary gearbox, sent it back to MiRiDER to get fixed and a year later another problem occurred with the gearbox. Not worth the money at all and thinking of getting rid of mine☹️

Spot on. As much as I like the good quality battery, the hydraulic brakes, the gears and the belt drive, I cant get away from the feeling that at £2.5k this is just too close in price to the top-quality big boys like Brompton and GoCycle etc. In fact there is an ex-display gocycle at the moment for a little under 3k. And the superb Tern Vectron Q9 (with a 50nm Bosch motor in the bottom bracket) can be had for around £3k.
