I just got T5 as a present and have decided to go for basic cook book and additional paper cookbooks . I love the way " Great Taste on Every Level" cookbook has been published by Thermomix plus since being British have also gone for the option of " The British Isles on a Plate" .
I had the TM5 without a Cook Chip, Cook Key or recipe book for a while and was basically just looking at recipes online. Even with that setup, it's a phenomenal machine. I used the TM5 for a while with the Cook Key (bought on ebay) and thought it was a big step forwards - I just really enjoyed having access to so many automated recipes... but after a bit of dealing and negotiating, I was able to get my TM6 for very, very little money and I LOVE it. But, if you don't plan on using the high heat, slow cook or sous vide modes... you don't need to upgrade from a TM5, in my opinion.
I have to be honest - the more I use my TM6, the more my conclusion at the end feels less true. It really is a fantastic bit of kit - just this week I made Teriyaki Salmon and Shepherd's Pie... neither of which I'd never have made from scratch without the Thermomix, (instead choosing to buy pre-made sauces or spice kits). It's made me fall back in love with cooking.
This is true! And don't let my strong opinion about how good Cookidoo is put you off buying a Thermomix that DOESN'T have a subscription. Even without a subscription, either a TM6 or TM6 is a fantastic device - so powerful and versatile!
It's a LOOOOONG story, and it took about 6 months, but I got my TM6 by buying and fixing up broken TM5s off eBay. I bought a few TM5s and was able to use the good parts from each to make a couple of working machines. I kept one, and gave the other to my parents. But I wasn't content with just having the TM5... so I bought more broken machines and fixed them up until I was able to sell all the repaired TM5s (including Mum and Dad's) because I'd earned enough to cover the cost of 2 lightly used TM6 Machines off eBay and Facebook Marketplace. The purchase price of the TM6s were about £360 and £450 each, but after all the buying, fixing and selling, the total cost to me was just over £50. I appreciate It's not something that everyone could do, but what I will say is that after having taken apart a few Thermomixes, they're very well made - the motor assembly is extremely robust, so if you find a well priced machine on eBay or Facebook Marketplace, I'd go for it. In terms of cleanliness; anything your food touches can go into the dishwasher before you use the machine for the first time, and there are loads of spare parts available. Hope this helps.
@@ItsHeBeGB wow..!! Well that wasn’t the answer I expected, but such a good way of getting a machine. Unfortunately I don’t have the time or skills to do that. I have been looking on eBay and hoping to pick up a new one, or a good used one. I’ve got a £1000 budget for one so hopefully I can make that work

I have a TM6 and absolutely love it. I have tried many recipes that I wouldn't normally try because the TM6 just makes it so much easier.

Brilliant video thank you, I found this really helpful.
alternatively, if you have basic cookbook as an attachment instead of buying membership if you can't afford it you can buy a few of their cookbooks.
