I came here after hearing the US playing the USSR anthem during an ice hockey match in 1991. I felt sorry for the soviets, because not only the US showed no respect to the CCCP, they played the anthem terribly. Interesting. They sing "God Save The Queen" instead of "God Save The King" so it was recorded after 1952, during the Cold War. This makes me wonder when exactly and under what circumstances did this happen. The only time period that comes to mind is the last years of USSR, could be the 40 anniversary of victory in WWII in 1985, but uhh, that's the time when Afghan War was waging on, so USSR didn't have good relations with US and UK. It would be nice to know when this was recorded.
My best guess would either have to be the Kruschev era before the Cuban missile crisis when relations were better, or the later Gorbachev era when things were lax with the west, I'd take a guess at 1988. EDIT: So upon a little more research, I found a TH-cam video of the recording of just the US anthem, the samd recording, probably cut the rest out, it says 4' 71" which I think means April 1971. (I don't remember if it was 4" 71' but you get the point)
Just take a moment to look at this picture and see it as an accurate description of that time: US and USSR as far from each other as possible with Britain and France stuck between them.
You know a country is respectful when they sing all national anthems fully and gracfully, not only your own. Especially while being rival's at the time.

Add in the fact my grandfather is ethnically Jewish while great grandmother ( Grandmothers mom) came from Latvia. And that my father's side is the classic Lithuanian catholic and you see why I usually dont bother trying to explain my family tree.

@@charitysworld2177 Yup. Lithuania was part of the Soviet union at the time but my family from my mothers side mainly spoke Russian, were orthodox and were more Russian then Lithuanian.
Add in the fact my grandfather is ethnically Jewish while great grandmother ( Grandmothers mom) came from Latvia. And that my father's side is the classic Lithuanian catholic and you see why I usually dont bother trying to explain my family tree.
