Jessica, I do not like bars either that is why I never go to one except for maybe to have lunch. I find bars have way too many people and they are too noisy plus I do not even drink alcohol. I am looking forward to your vlogmas this month.
Might try the Ebon Knight series. My husband's friend is actually the author. They are really good, fantasy, a little romance. A good vs. evil battle for morality. And for Sandy who likes the spicey spicey with her fantasy books.....Laurell K. Hamilton. The further into either series, the spicier they get.
You do grow out of bars my girls did the clubbing thing but it didn’t last long they really don’t like drinking so that was short lived. The girls would have people over to the house and chill maybe have a drink watch movies just talking and laughing. Which suited me just fine. So if you’re not into the bars you just gre out of it which is just fine.
Hi Jessica, if you are interested in the discovery of the island group of Svalbard, I can recommend a book that was very successful in the German-speaking countries many years ago, but is really timeless and has since been translated into many languages, including English. It is "The Terrors of Ice and Darkness" by Austrian writer Christoph Ransmayr. I really liked it when it first came out, circa 1990.

J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood books are fantasy and spicy, too. The first book is Dark Lover.
