The illustrious career of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab spanning over almost six decades amply testifies to this fact! Thank you for your superlative comments. Mme. Borah. I've been a devotee since seeing him on a obscure cable tv channel in the early '80's, never knowing of him previously, hearing his mesmerizing voice, at the tv show's ending noting the announcement that he was performing that very night, rushing to see an unforgettable live performance. I might've been the only non Indian in attendance, understood not a word, but was in tears at the beautiful words and voice of this messenger. I never set eyes on Medhi Hassan Saab thereafter, but he's been ever since my favorite vocalists. I've spent the following decades slowly learning some of the English meaning of the ghazals as technology has evolved. Thanks, again!

For me, listening to the magical voice of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab is like - embarking on an eternal voyage - in a dinghy - in a deep blue sea - on a moonlit night - with a cool breeze and solitude to give company !
Such was the wizardry of this great Wizard of Music ! Those, who have already missed it, have missed many things in life ! As ill luck would have it, I didn't see this legendarysinger, while he was performing live, during his lifetime ! Perhaps, I will have to carry forward this unfulfilled wish to my next birth, had there been any !
I have a long and faithful association spanning over 40 years or so with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ever since I came to know about him through his divine creations in 1978, when I happened to purchase a LP album, featuring four of his ghazals, for my HMV Stereo System ; and will continue to remain zo till I breathe ! Whatever little coloqual Urdu l have come to know is through listening to the magical voice of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab is my Master and I am his Avid Listener ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab had made me understand the true meaning of love and compassion and had made me view this world in an altogether different perspective - full of hopes and aspirations ! I will remain ever grateful to the great Mehdi Hassan Saab for this peerless gift !
To be very true, no epithet is sufficient to describe this enormous talent ! He was just - INFALLIBLE, as an exponent of ghazal gayiki and as such, he was beyond the reach of us - FALLIBLES ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was, indeed, the Brightest Jewel in the World Of Ghazal Gayiki and, infact, its Crowning Glory ! He had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal, which will be very difficult to surpass! It was as if the ROOH (SPIRIT) of ghazal gayiki had gone, along with his sad demise ! Personally speaking, I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have born during the lifetime of this legendary singer !
Such a resourceful singer will ever tread this path again in the world !
