And it's always a pleasure playing your gear. Hope to get a more in-depth video done on Ventris at some point. It's such a killer sound design machine. But E-Dome is where I live around 80% of the time on it. Just such a beautiful sound.
I have said this on your channel before and saying it again… THIS IS how you demo reverbs and not by playing blues licks. Dude, I love your work man, I love you for doing this. Your enthusiasm for ambient music is contagious and feels like we could be friends. Coming to the reverbs, I love them all but personally I would love to own the Source Audio.
Source Audio Collider owner here, I love modulated Reverbs. I wish the Collider could get deeper but I understand the concept. I do also have the Red Panda Context V2 and I do love it (when it actually works and doesnt freeze or kills sound on me live!) I like the Red Panda Context V2 a lot, but i cant say I like how Red Panda ignores and is completely unresponsive to emails about issues with the pedal. So I am considering getting a Ventris instead. Although I would much love to have a Mercury X instead, but the Ventris is more “affordable”, and I know Source Audio quality and customer support, are great. Great demo man! I love your videos. Thank you so much. I copied your presets from your Collider demo a few months ago. 🙂👍🏻🔥🌟
Lovely! A kind of weird duo combo of mine that I dig with saxophone is Afterneath going into Polymoon. Aftermath set to be really bright with high pre-delay and Polymoon just being a simple warm stereo delay is a really cool phenomenon. Since the afterneath has high pre-delay, the wet effect sets in after the dry has passed through into the Polymoon and the combo of bright/cold and warm/dark is pretty fun.
Ah, the Ventris. I'm running a Mercury X now but the Ventris got me deep into my soundscapes before the Mercury X came along. And it still makes it's way to my board often. What an incredible pedal.
I love all of them. My new favourite combination of reverbs is a subtle, yet crazy and short reverb from the good old OBNE Dark Star into the Strymon Cloudburst in full orchestral mode and then into the Neunaber Immerse. Of course with this combination I don’t want to make it sound like a guitar. I really want to make it sound like an orchestra. So I use the Dark Star for a bit of extra movement to give it more of a human feel and I use the Immerse as…. a reverb. Then I record a single line bass part, then some moving chords on guitar and then a third track for the main melody line, sometimes combined with the use of an E-Bow. I’m happy. 😊
They are indeed all amazing, and it would be a win/win situation no matter what you choose. Context2 is super underrated though, so I'm glad you picked that one. Grain Mode is just hauntingly beautiful in stereo
I love that you use your pinky on the high E. I learned that from my older brother after he learned "classical guitar" on a nylon stringed guitar. Folks tend to ignore the pinky or plant it, when finger picking. As a "Lefty" who plays "normal", I prefer to give each finger, on my right (or "dumb") hand (...except for the thumb, which plays low E and A) one duty. Watching other guitarist on the Tube, I was starting to feel like I was alone in this approach....glad to see that there is another "pinky freak" out there. Thanks for another amazing video centered around ambient guitar (instead of shred). Keep staying golden Pony Boy! ps:: too many quotation marks and parenthesis on my end?
You're using just the right amount of quotations and parenthesis. Makes reading it more engaging :) I guess the reason why I use my pinky a lot is because I play in a lot of different open tunings, and that has just required me to somewhat relearn and rethink the way I used to play. So some "pinky action" is required to get the voicings that I hear in my head.
Perfect video. The 3 identical clips at the end are awsome for comparaison. I own the ventris and owned the skylar. 2 wonderful pedals. The skylar is also a pleasure to use with its lcd screen.
Thank you so much! Stoked you enjoyed the video. Yeah, none of these pedals fall short when it comes to sound quality, but I do agree that the Skylar has a very pleasing and intuitive user interface.
As ALWAYS, i love your vids, man. I love all the 'Verb pedals and wish i had an infinitely long pedal board so i could 'catch 'em all.' - Thanks for providing the most chill pedal show on youtube.
I also love the Context more and more. Maybe my best reverb. It has something special about its sounds. Not super clean, many character, ...maybe close to rack reverbs ? It was one of the many favorites of Kevin Shields once . Certainly underrated.
The Tremble Reverb is so amazing on the Skylar! Wish more pedals had the option to apply effects to the wet-only signal... like the drive in the Caroline Meteore and Kilobyte!
The Kilobyte and Meteore have been mainstays on my board for 6 years or so now. Kilobyte is my favorite delay. Everyone asks me what I’m using, even people that have them. With the right settings, I can get some very unique soloing tones, using the havoc foot-switch.
Been following you for a few years and love your presentations but more to the point i love your playing & off the cuff compositional skills. Would love to see a vid on your opinion of the various pickup types on your guitars. Love the comparison videos. Thanks for all you do. Regards from Oregon, US
Ventris: Sounds the most "normal" Panda: Sounds the most "experimental" and glitchy (pretty awesome). Skylar: Sounds the "prettiest" and you nailed it with the Dimension C comparison. I think the Skylar wins this one, IMO. Just depends on what you need. In the end, you won everyone over with your awesome playing.
Also, it would be cool if you could do few collaboration videos with someone like Bill from Chords of Orion, like a short series of gear-based challenge videos. Probably an immense pain in arse logistically and not worth it for you guys, but who doesn’t love a challenge video..?.?.?😝
Always love these videos, especially when you’ve got source audio pedals. I have the nemesis ventris and ultrawave, and all three are great. I’m surprised you haven’t done a deep dive on the ultrawave, considering you’re passionate about for pedals that can make your guitar sound like, well not a guitar. Thanks for all your time and tones, be blessed.
Thanks, man! I actually have an Ultrawave, and I want to do a demo on it. But that pedal is hella deep, so still getting familiar with it and its potential. But I love every sound I've conjured from it so far :)
@@thepedalzone yeah I’ve had it for a while and I’m still learning it. I for sure don’t use it to its full potential, but the team at source audio is killer as well. Thanks again.
I loved the e dome on my collider. Loved my reverb on my Meris. Red Panda can do no wrong but the Slöer can do 80- 90% of what I liked about them. It's now in stereo and now in my hall of fame.
Thanks Stefan! As always, great video and soulful playing! I'm happy to have Skylar and Collider. And it is their E-dome and Spatuim modes that I use together. Spatium is great as a transparent base reverb with a light sound. And E-dome mode is more deep dark and filling. Together they sound great! And yet I give first place to E-dome. But Rad Panda also sounds incredible and unlike. Great pedal!
You nailed it. Even though the sonic differences between these 3 pedals modulate modes aren't night and day, there are some key subtle tonal nuances that make them stand out on their own, and also complement each other really well. Can only imagine you sound awesome with Spatium and E-Dome stacked together. Happy you enjoyed the video :)
I saw you drop that Dispatch Master in the beginning! DM is still my all time favorite. Sadly sees less use since I went full stereo though. I will just have to buy a second one someday. Thanks for the beautiful music and thoughtful demo video!
