As someone who fell in love with this band off of _In the Absence of Truth,_ this album has a very _Norma Jean_ vibe to me, kind of _Bless the Martyr._ It's great, for sure. I won't say it's my favorite - they have too many great albums for me to pick one, frankly - but it's definitely up there.

I got to open for them in a pub called Vinos in little Rock Ar and I bought this album on vinyl from them at their merch table at the show God prob 16+ years ago they were so fucking awesome first note till the last one so fucking heavy of a sound in that little concrete wall pub wasn't 2 inches of space in that place left max capacity Isis will always have a spot in my metal inspiration!
Probably the closest definition would be Sludge Metal. They were heavily inspired by both Neurosis and early Melvins. But, Isis is usually seen as one of the originators of Post-Metal. Which is like a cross pollination of Metal and Post-Rock. But, I'd say that sound didn't fully develop until their full-length albums like Celestial and Oceanic. Their early EPs were based more in Sludge Metal.

This broke me into the band. This is baci in the day when you read an article and bought a cd on a whim. Don't regret it at all.
This is such a perfect EP. Perfect balance of beauty, anger and ass-beating riffs.
This has one of my favorite intros of a song everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It doesn't get better than this and I wish I could steal it.
